Jeez, I knew Wembley was a stretch but only 150k on ITV is abysmal. I know TV ratings aren't what they were with streaming but still!
Will be interesting to see how they market it, as most people won't have an idea what AEW is despite how big a draw some of their guys are. Their biggest draw is hopefully done with wrestling! RVD has said when he was on Impact fans would ask him what he's up to now that's he's left wrestling!
Loads of UK promotions have tried fairly decent size halls with former WWE talent to failure. The only promotion that I can think of that's done well was ICW when they pushed domestic talent and had Drew but they slipped when they tried to do the large Hydro arena pushed with US talent.

if they price up up fairly (unlike WWE) me and a group of attitude era fans would be totally up for AEW at Wembley - you can only hope with such a big stadium they will play fair on this and they could get a very decent turn out. Keep the prices England international level and we are there with bells on1

I recall it was a few years ago that Tony Khan’s father was actually trying to buy Wembley Stadium. And with the Jacksonville Jaguars having played there multiple times, they clearly have got some sort of clout with the owners to have pulled this off.
Concerts at Wembley usually involve about 30% of the stadium being cordoned off for the stage so wouldn’t surprise me if this is the same. Would leave a potential capacity of about 60,000 at a guess.0 -
What's a fair price? MITB was very expensive but sold out in seconds. Ringside will be expensive but i expect most seats will be England international price. They probably want a visual of a large crowd rather than to make a large profit that night.
Pretty sure he's made this decision whilst off his nut as it's bonkers.
I think Wembley has a limit in how many full capacity events it can host a year, hence Spurs not getting the whole ground for every game. Guessing AEW won't be one of them!Cafc43v3r said:

The WWE could have sold out the O2 at double the price they charged, which was already a lot.
So it's apples and oranges, but I would be surprised if they even try and sell 90k. The other thing is this will be the second stadium show, inside a year, after 30 years without one. The more regular they become the less "can't afford to miss it" plays into it.0 -

Quite a few theories doing the rounds about how the WM39 main event outcome was adjusted with the sale of the company in mind.
They went all out to make this the most profitable WWE event ever, purely as a way of demonstrating the company’s potential to buyers. Hence the even-more-than-usual saturation of sponsorship on the show. They took over $21m from gate receipts alone.So whilst the planned end to the story was a Cody win, they’ve swerved right at the last minute knowing that Roman’s likely to be the biggest merch draw and so wanted to hand the keys over to Endeavor with him as the top dog.0 -

Watched Dynamite, main event FTR V The Gunn Club for the tag titles and if FTR lose they leave AEW.
That's a decent stipulation for a PPV match, it was the main event of Dynamite with a week of build up? They also had Omega V the AAA champion El Hijo Del Vikingo as a Dynamite main event recently with about a week's build up as well.
What are they leaving for Wembley? Guess they can bring in some British talent like ZSJ and Osprey and MJF hardly wrestles on TV so plenty of choice for him but it all seems pretty short term.0 -

The booking was stupid for Del Vikingo, absolutely zero build up other than its a dream match. To anyone that thought that was a dream match already watches AEW.
They never actually explained who he was.
They did the same when they started the company, they told you the Elite were the best in the world but never gave any reasons to believe it.
These people are insanely over with a very small % of people, the whole thing is booked for less than a million people. That's 999,999 more than last Monday's RAW was though.1 -

Him v Kenny would be massive draw for people that know who they both are. It will be interesting if they try and sell out Wembley on the back of the AEW 'originals' and AAA and NJPW talent or use the ex WWE guys who people actually know who they are. I don’t think NJPW / indie presence is enough to add significant numbers to the Wembley attendance. I’d assume most people who follow wrestling outside of WWE in this country would plan to be at the event regardless, considering the novelty of it.I don’t even think a CM Punk level presence would change the number drastically, though it would of course make for a hotter build.Best chance they have is making the tickets so cheap that people can easily drag their mates, kids etc along to pad it out0

For context all the EFL goals have been on Sky before the highlights shows is on. 67k is still more than NJPW gets in the US though.
