I have been really surprised by the last 3 performances ( I know we won midweek but it was still shit ) players looking for contracts seemingly not arsed enough to play half decently. Like alot of others I wont be spending anything next season unless TS has gone and not replaced by a similar group of idiots who think their brilliant enough to run a football club without taking advice from experienced people.
Oh and Gallen can do one as well as far as I'm concerned he is taking the piss with the last 2 years signings7 -
Diabolical performance.feel for Henry,he never recovered from the mistake,he should get another chance,Morgan ran and ran without much to show for it,lots of huffing and puffing but no composure on the ball,no movement ,just dire backwards and sideways passing.Where were the defenders for the tap ins,if Innis had been playing some would be calling for a public flogging.AMB needs a rest. Also give Kanu a run up front for last 2 games.1

sadly didn’t work and as FishCostaFortune said a showcase of our entire season in one match.
Youngsters are inconsistent and if the midfield was as poor as this thread suggests then Miles probably had little or no service. Don't forget this is his first seaon in the first team.1 -

Whilst I agree today was woeful in the extreme, he can only dish up with what he has on offer, and until/if ever the alleged takeover actually happens, and we see the colour of their loot, that's where we will remain, the players just ain't good enough, and that has very little to do with Holden...imho.

Some of the wayward passing made that first half feel like one of the worst Charlton home performances in years. The day wasn’t helped with the East Stand overrun with annoying kids and football for a freebie types who it felt like were taking in their very first game and willing to try and disrupt the “enjoyment” for anyone around them. The whole thing was just shite.3

We were on the beach, Morecombe beach.
Just sick of being in this proxy league, please sell the club Thomas, you are doing more damage than you realize.1 -
Did half wonder whether the players had been out on the lash last night, they were awful, some of them couldn’t string a pass together, must have been quite a few leaving do’s.1

Because I’d be amazed if you were sat near where I was amongst a load of kids running up and down, kicking chairs, arguing, not watching the game etc without finding it an entirely painful experience.

Most disappointing performance today was Hector, really thought he was going to be the answer to make us more solid defensively but the longer the season goes on he's getting worse1

I didn't bother going today. I'm so apathetic to this lot that I opted to help a family member move home instead. As things stand I won't be renewing my ST for next season unless I see major upgrades in the squad during the summer. I will also be finding something else to do next week too. I will be attending the player of the year dinner on Sunday, but I'll probably get escorted out before my pudding arrives, as I may well tell a fair few of these so-called players what I really think of them.1

Woeful display by a side going through the motions, it's going to have to be an amazing turn round for next season.1

Utter crap, looked like a bunch of nobodies plucked from the train station and stuck in Charlton shirts. Even our equaliser was crap with Payne smashing a ball in as hard as he could to deflect off Rak-sakyi's thigh.
Everything was woeful, passing, defending which was non existent for Morecambes second and third as the players all stood around expecting the ref to blow up for every perceived foul like they were Fergies united.
Henry looked especially bad as tried.fsr too many defence splitting balls from deep, so most went straight to the oppo, but, they were all terrible today apart from.....
Fraser (well taken goal), Kanu and Campbell, but then, really, fresh legs coming into a shit show of a half arsed game,.they'd have had to have been really fing bad to not have made an improvement.
It's one game game closer to the end of the season so thats something at least.

A pretty dismal performance from Charlton and I thought that Morecambe were worthy winners. They were much the better side in the first half and we were fortunate to go in on terms after Stockton missed a gilt-edged opportunity to put them 2-0 up and Rak-Sakyi deflected in Payne’s cross before half time in one of the few times we got to the byeline.
We started the second half a little better but their guy on the right drifted inside Sessgnon and Payne far too easily and a clever low ball into our box found Hector sleeping on the job, with Stockton very much awake. Shortly afterwards, we again offered Morecambe the freedom of the park - memories of Ipswich - and, cutting through our non-existent midfield, Stockton was given ample time and space to hit a strike towards our goal, which Ashley parried and a Morecambe forward gratefully tapped home with no defender in sight.
Fraser got one back before the end but no one really believed we were going to turn this one around after such a tepid display. For their part, Morecambe defended very well, closed us down tenaciously and fully exploited our soft underbelly. I thought that Crowley, their diminutive number 8, largely controlled the game until he was withdrawn towards the end.
As for individual performances, Hector was poor, Sessegnon didn’t look fit, Henry had a bit of a nightmare, Payne was poor and Leaburn got no change out of Morecambe’s tough defenders. Morgan tried to get things going and Campbell looked lively but it’s very hard to think of any Charlton player who emerged with real credit.
And so it came to pass that Morecambe, a team who had won 1 game in 21 away and scored only 10 goals, deservedly turned us over 3-2 for the second season in a row

My point is that things haven't improved all that much since he's come in. I think under Holden we've gone from 14th to 11th, and the football is still shit.1 - Sponsored links:

That looked to me like many of the players out there have sussed they are not wanted next season.Remember after Powell took over? Four straight wins but then reality dawned that he was getting rid of just about all of them and we went on the slide?Holden has done well to hide the truth from much of this squad. Today I reckon it has dawned on most of them.I hope I’m right. If not we are deep in the doo doo.20

We were comical today - set Stockton up for the first and didn't attempt to defend the next two. Most of our players can't pass and our crossing/decision making was woeful.
Hard to work out who our worst player was.

Rak Sakyi's goal saved the players from being booed off at half time.
But I must admit I was expecting the crowd to turn hostile when we went 3-1 down.
I was surprised how subdued the atmosphere was and I couldn't work out whether it was because it was a meaningless (to us) end of season game or whether we have become so conditioned to being let down that all the passion has drained out of us.
Screw the game we were shit, but I found the air of resignation and demoralisation quite worrying.

Just seen the goals. Comical defending which would embarrass a Pub side on a sunday morning. Most of it self inflicted by continuously trying to pass our way out of trouble. So many goals these days are scored by defenders & goalkeepers giving the ball away in the final 3rd. When will a manager forget "total football" and just hoof the ball out of danger & into the opponents half of the pitch.
As a club the football has been getting worse & worse as the seasons progress. We might finish higher this season than last but the football is a lot worse.
I fear for the next few seasons. Can't see us bringing on the dozen or so players we need to turn things around. Our top goal scorer & creator wont be here next season & our only other goal threat might not be either. If that is the case the "where will the goals come from" thread will be in meltdown.
Gah....4
