  • Think he'll do well.

    Hope he doesn't though!!
It won't be hard to do better than Potter or Lampard!
  • When you look at the amount of players Chelsea have bought for big fees its ridiculous that the 1st job Poch needs to do is have a massive clear out. It's an impossible task trying to manage the existing squad there

Pulisic, Havertz, Lukaku, Ziyech, Hudson-Odoi, Azpilicueta, Aubameyang, Loftus-Cheek, Mendy, Mount.

That's 10 who will probably be high on the list to go. I'm sure there are others i've missed out as well.

They've already got Nkunku, Gusto and Colwill to add to next seasons squad as it is.

Chelsea have appointed former Tottenham and Paris St-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager.

The Argentine, 51, begins his new role on 1 July 2023 on a two-year contract, with an option of a further year.

He takes over from interim boss Frank Lampard, who guided Chelsea to 12th in the Premier League.

"Mauricio is a world-class coach with an outstanding track record. We are all looking forward to having him on board," the club said in a statement.

So Pochettino has been without a club since last July, his new club is a total mess, we’re in the midst of signing players and he’s not starting until July. Now, I don’t believe that, but why would either the club or the manager think that putting that date in the announcement is a good idea.
  • At last a chance for Mason Burstow.

Yes it's a bit weird. What's he doing for the next month?

Madness isnt it ? That what I mean about impossible to manage. How can anyone see the wood from the trees with that lot ?

Must need a holiday after all that job hunting

So much for my opinion, thinking that Shrewsbury would be a threat this coming season, what with the slow work Cotterill is doing there

Maybe an outsider for relegation if the Manager wants to resign this time of year, as you'd straight away think Transfer Budget
  • Apparently they've appointed a new " Football Board" which sounds like a recipe for trouble.
  • League One looking weaker and weaker next season. They were dark horses for the play offs with Cotterill in charge in my opinion. Only team I can see being stronger next season than this season is Oxford - but that is only because I rate Manning as a manager.
  • Don’t forget Cotterill was poorly for a long while - maybe he is taking a break.

I see DC United are the new Derby County

Assistant coach Jason Kreis has also left Inter Miami, with fellow assistant Javier Morales assuming the role as interim head coach before Saturday's home game against Wayne Rooney's DC United.

Brendan Rodgers seems to be the main target

I hope that's the last we ever hear of him

Does he count?  Not sure if he was an interim etc.

Pretty funny he came in, got 1 point from 4 games, and got relegated.  Well done Sam.

I think he's a good manager, and a good appointment.  Whether he'll succeed at Spurs is another matter though.

Yeah i think he will be as well. Spurs have gone down the big name manager route with Mourinho and Conte and it got them nowhere (although Mourinho did get them to a cup final but was sacked before it).

Postecoglou has been successful everywhere he's been so if the players and fans buy into his way of playing i think they could do well. By 'well' i mean challenging for top 4, obviously they're miles off a title challenge or even top 2.

He needs time though. If it isn't working after a few months they need to stick with him. He might need 2 or even 3 transfer windows to shape the squad how he wants it.

Not aimed at you specifically but I don’t get this ‘been successful everywhere he’s been’. Winning the A league, the J league and then winning Scotland’s equivilant of League One in what is basically, at best, a two horse race. If I were a Spurs fan, which thankfully I’m not, I’d be more than a tad concerned.

O'Neill and Rodgers (for a while!) both did well down here after leaving Celtic.

Celtic were way behind Rangers when Postecoglou arrived too - 20 odd points the season before I think - and he turned it around very well.  So it's not like Neil Lennon, taking over current champions while Rangers were going broke.

  • I'll give him 3 months.....to xmas at best. Desperation appointment imo.
