Sad news about the brilliant, engaging BBC journalist George Alagiah who has passed away, nine years after being diagnosed with cancer. George was 67. He was among the best of us.

Ah no, that's a shame. Always seemed to have gravitas without being too doom and gloom when reading the news. RIP George.1

Newsreaders become like a family member, you see them on an almost daily basis. They help us through traumatic events and join us in our celebrations, so when let's us down, by doing a Huw, we are shocked and we mourn their passing as acutely as any celebrity. RIP to a giant of his profession.3

We went on a BBC tour in London seeing the Radio and TV news room in 21/1/2016 and George Alagiah had just gone back to work after treatment. Stage 4 diagnosis means you're on borrowed time and that is always the fear when you meet the Consultant's.
No tests before 60 then unless you went private and George was in his 50's unfortunately when finding out the bad news.
Earlier and earlier tests are needed but...
George was a calm and top Journalist as well as war correspondent and saw some sad sights.
Top man and sad for his family and close friends as his cancer Journey comes to its sad end.
RIP George Alagiah

When listening to and watching George the one thing that shone through like nothing else was his integrity. You trusted him because of it, and he cared.
A life of integrity is a life well lived, although in his case cut painfully short.

RIP . This fucking disease is horrendous and i'm amazed he continued to work after multiple operations.7

RIP. The obvious emotion shown by his colleagues on hearing the news is testimony to how highly they regarded him both as a presenter and a person.
