Thanks Kigelia and thank you for marshalling. That really was brutal. I was 14 mins slower than last year @ 3h27 but I reckon I finished a lot higher. Everyone (inc me) was walking all the hills and taking breaks at water stations. Marshalls helped handing out extra water too.

At the 17-18k stop the Harvel HH Harriers team were handing out cold beers  :D I politely declined.
Hugely well done. just cycling the 6 miles to my marshalling point was tough. I tip my hat to those that ran it.

And google says…..yes it was…well done you, treat yourself to a neon blue isotonic drink with an unpronounceable name and a sickly aftertaste…
    Gatorade? Yuck!

Found it really tough yesterday morning, had missed a couple of weeks and had overdressed as it was raining when I set out but still was very, very laboured…

Doing the standard chartered 5k on Tuesday. Normally good fun, not done it for a few years so a ringer (can you be a ringer if you're shite?) At my previous firm. Anyone else doing it?

Managed one yesterday but does anyone know if any of the London parkruns ever do them on Sundays (Xmas and New Year not included…)

I ran 7.25 miles today, my furthest since running the MK half on May 2nd last year at and at a similar pace. (9.48 min miling)

So yes, after a series of false starts, I do believe it's coming back to me at last now 😉 So my message to all who aren't at their best and are frustrated. "don't give up!"

First run in over 5 months yesterday. Indulged a fair bit in those 5 months so fitness was absolutely shocking. Need to get the bug back so it's a start!

No you'd have to pose as an under 14 and do junior parkrun.

Volunteering at them is more fun than I thought it'd be.

no, never, just junior parkruns on Sundays

there were occasional non-Saturday runs back in the dim and distant past but they became too impractical as parkrun increased in size so Saturdays only became the rule

Well done. Mind if I ask why the 5 month break? I took one of four because I got sick of running, then got sick a month after coming back and had to take another month off, but I've been back running regularly at shorter distances since May. It's taking me ages to get my fitness back, but I've just cleared 60 and finished 5th in my new age category at PR on Saturday B)

It started when we had building work going on and was finding it hard to find a gap to go as any free time was taken up. Last couple of months is more because I got out of the habit. Will look to book a couple of organised events for later in the year/early 2024 to keep me motivated. Once I'm back into it I'm usually fine, it's just getting that rhythm going again!

I see. Yes, it always helps with motivation to have an event planned. I'm limiting myself to ten mile max ones in future, but there are still plenty of those to go for. I've half an eye on the Grimsthorpe Gallop (Grimsthorpe Castle Lincolnshire) early September, but that might be too soon for where I'm at now.

Thrilled to get a PB of 27.00 at Charlton this morning, particularly after 36 holes of golf yesterday.

I did Whitstable last week. Very demoralising. Seemed to be uphill for 90% of the course.

I find it frustrating the other way around  - do Junior Parkrun with my kids on Sundays but 9am Saturdays coincides with my eldest one's swimming lessons I take her to!

Got 27.14 myself, fastest since 2020. Good weather for it as well, overcast with a nice breeze

I think I was motivated to run quicker because there was this really annoying woman with a dog running alongside me. She insisted on talking to it very loudly in a baby voice for the whole race. I'd have given anything for it to have turned on her

Wow, that’s one to tick off the tourist list!

First one for me this morning since May. Have only managed one 2 mile run in the last five glutinous weeks, so just hoping to get round and it not be my slowest ever!

Probably best if you don't check the weather forecast !

Aye we're gonna be back in trail shoes soon.

I'm on my way down to Ashford, that's my 50th parkrun location. Then we're in Jersey next weekend, as long as the trains after Newport away aren't messed up - I'll have about 2 hours in bed before heading to Gatwick.

Just done my 50th Kettering PR (189 in total). About 3 years later than I'd originally planned pre COVID, but got there in the end 😉

Mrs Hex got a PB.  Under 30mins for the first time.  She complained she had to wait even longer in the rain for me.  Cheek !  No respect for her elders !

Late to the party, but I did this - it was good fun.

Went over to Canons Park at the other end of the Jubilee Line this morning - shame the weather was wretched because it's a much more interesting run than it looks at first sight, a mix of park and woodland. Did Westmill, up the A10 at Ware, last week - stunning scenery, quite a tough cross-country course, worth the trip if you get the chance.

I've just booked my travel to Hanover for German Unity Day on Tuesday 3rd October to do Georgengarten parkrun, as they've confirmed today that they're on.

Bugger me! Why does it never seem to get any easier? Just done my match day 10k to bring us luck ... Not that it's ever really worked to much meaningful advantage that I've noticed. Only just came in under ten minute miling, which was a poor effort. Let's hope our boys raise their game more than I did 😉
