Still running marathons in her mid 70s and she's run every London Marathon apart from the very first one which went past the end of the road which when she went to watch inspired her to run it the year after.
She must have raised an absolute fortune for charity! No other way she could have done all those in the ballot.. Great effort.
Tbh with you, she's been getting her places as a GFA qualifier (Good For Age) for a very, very long time. This article about her was published not long ago https://www.runnersworld.com/uk/training/motivation/a41858365/gina-little/ The GFA qualifying time in her age group is 6hr 20 now. She's almost 2hrs UNDER that lol.

That's quality, my time as a male wouldn't be GFA until I'm 60 odd
Anyone else doing the London Landmarks this weekend ?
I've now taken someone's place in this, in wave 4. The fastest pacer in that wave is 1:50 so hopefully it's not so busy I can't overtake people. Should be cool experience regardless, most of my events have been small ones.
Then I can retire from long distance running (again).

Ah, good luck ! I did the London marathon in October and the crowds were absolutely mental, unreal experience.. I imagine parts of this will be similar. Think I'm aiming for 2:03, would love sub 2hrs but can't risk getting a niggle before the full one in a few weeks.

Good luck to you both. Every race I have ever run in central London has been a joy. Even when it hurts and I am knackered. When the cars are sent away the centre of London is wonderful.

doing it myself! before starting my training in January i'd only ventured further than 6k once (manchester 10k) but got the runners bug now! loved the training and looking forward to the race. In the chocolate wave
Thanks Kigelia. Yeah being in London with no cars is special, even as spectator. Would be a good morning to go uptown and have a wander.
I sneaked into the back of wave 2, got around in 1hr38 which is a PB for me - and 37 minutes faster than Easter 2021!
I might have to look into North Downs now I have a slight chip on my shoulder after having to walk lots if its ending last year.
Did you do Kingdom yesterday/win it?
For me, MH PR didn't happen, but I did force myself out later and ran five miles whilst we were wracking up the goals at the Valley. I can't promise to do that every week though!

I think I will marshal this year as I joined the club who organise it. Although when we start using the course for training runs I might change my mind and opt to run it instead.

Heh, yeah I went to Kingdom and paced my girlfriend/had her telling me to shut up and go away for 30+ minutes.
Nice, not often you can go for a run and Charlton clock up more goals than you do miles!
Back into running after a layoff. Well, parkrun and a 5k this morning. hopefully I can tart.to get some of my "pace" back then I can get back up to 10k and enter a couple of races

Exactly where I'm at. About to do another 5k having done one a few days ago after another lay off whilst I was suffering with Shingles. Later in the year, I'm being asked if I'd like to do the Ealing half, but I'll need to get 10k and a 10 miler under my belt first.
I’ve no intention of doing 10k at my age let alone half marathons. However I have done a few 7k+ training runs over the last few weeks resulting in a Shorne PB a week ago and another, by 59 seconds, on Saturday. Mrs Hex has higher ambitions and quite regularly enters 10k events but I won’t be tempted.
I have fallen back in love with running. Have a 10k soon and a half marathon in June. Am enjoying training and park runs (did my fastest in a while at Shorne this week 23.13).
yep - knew it was coming for a long time but I only found out at 6.45am that the start was today!
Results not in yet, but they had a very low-key start with about 130 people. It's quite a fast out and back course but includes a run up and down the spiral in Gallions Reach Park in Thamesmead. It's going to be *very* popular, but I'm glad they were able to keep it quiet so they didn't get swamped. Next weekend might be different!
Been out and about over the past few weeks - have ticked off Hackney Marshes (which is great) and Orpington (very cross-country in parts).
Enjoyable trot round Avery Hill this morning, my first for nearly 3 months. Good to have a chat with @WSS
be interesting to see the impact of the Woolwich one. 4 Parkruns in one borough feels excessive, suspect it will probably dilute Charlton the most.
Think it'll be fine - I expect Charlton will lose a little bit but Thames Path Woolwich will gain its own crowd given time, which is what happened when Catford started down the road from Hilly Fields. Avery Hill and Danson have co-existed for years with an overlapping catchment area so Charlton and TPW should too. There's a few thousand within the Arsenal alone and they accounted for maybe a quarter of the 149 runners today.
If you include Victoria Dock and Beckton across the water, there's now quite a cluster of parkruns in that area.
Keeping up volunteer numbers will be the bigger challenge.
Was expecting it to be warm but was overcast and a bit chilly, which is perfect for running. Also managed to knock over a minute off last week... 28.06 which I'm happy with but feel like I could have done better had I gone for it at the end... Got stuck behind two women who weren't even slightly out of breath, one moaning about her love life to the other. Reckon if I hadn't been listening I could have got under 28 mins easily!
Agreed about the weather. I set a PB at Sutcliffe (20:33) so have finally rid Strava of my dodgy GPS PB from last summer.
440 or so people at Woolwich today, I think we'll try there next week and use the Tesco as a base. I don't believe there any any loos near the start(?)

More importantly we all have a new Parkrun to tick off in Woolwich, unless anyone in the know did it today?

Pleasantly smug.
Some bloke beat my time by more than 2 minutes this morning.
Demoralising. Hope he's a tourist.
You’re safe, he’s a tourist. A 306 Parkrun veteran and club runner.
looking at the results I had friends just in front and just behind you. Must pop over to Charlton sometime
