I'm on my way to Peterborough so made the most of being in London and went to Richmond parkrun en route.

Yeah last week was obscene, everywhere turned into cross country. It was fun though, once your feet are wet you think 'F it' and embrace the mud and waterlogged areas. I did Catford/Mountsfield Park, old Charlton home for a season.

Avery Hill numbers were boosted with a few over from Bromley, was nice to have it over 200 again. Was a gorgeous morning and you get the sun at Avery Hill for 3/4 of the route, so was lovely

Oh nice, if you saw someone in a Sampdoria shirt that was me :) it's a lovely parkrun, I like that the hills get tougher as you go on. Could use some toilets though.

There is a chip and pin toilet near the start but it looked like it was having issues with a number of people trying to get in it this morning as I illegally chained the bike up there….

Did my first park run in 8 years this morning at shorne. My old barcode still worked. A bit icy but a nice run. 23.30 for me was happy with that. Really enjoying my running at the moment.

I hope you appreciated how I stepped out of the way to give you a clear path !  Shorne has become mine and Mrs Hex’s home course as it’s less than 10 minutes drive.  I think I’m getting the hang of it now.

Missed it last week due to a cold but came back and limped around Fulham yesterday….
  • Did Beckenham Place Park yesterday - first time since they changed the route after the pandemic. It's now one lap through the woods, fields and paths - really enjoyed it.

Went up to Victoria Park for a RunThrough 5k this morning - heaps of people there (there was a 10k and half-marathon running alongside it) and it was a stunning morning. Got my best time for a while too.

    Is that one called Bethelm?
I fancy doing that one and Wormwood Scrubs sooner or later…
  • I haven't been able to run for about 3 months now as my foot been in a lot of pain believed to be morton's neuroma. Went for a scan but it showed nothing. Probably restart running this week

I ran a Shorne Woods PB this weekend.  After 9 runs there I think I am getting the hang of it despite not feeling on top form before the start.  It was also easier not having any slippery mud to slow me down.

Shout out to @WSS who’s consistently hitting top 20 finishes at Greenwich 👏👏

Cycled to park run, ran it, got another crappy time, cycled home. Shit, shower, shave, cycled 12 and a bit miles to The Valley, watched that bollocks but left after the 6th minute of extra time as you could see we wouldn’t be able to drum up a shot, cycled home (ok cycled to Surrey Quays and caught the overground) but this made me doubly annoyed watching all those shitty wank puffins

Nope - Bethlem is in the grounds of Bethlem Royal Hospital at the other end of Beckenham, before you get into Shirley and the Croydon badlands. Did that a couple of times a few years ago, it's good.

Beckenham Place Park is the big park between Beckenham and Bellingham/Downham that used to have a golf course a few years ago and still has a big mansion in it. Lewisham Council have spent a fair bit renovating the park over the few years.
  • Went to Dulwich today - the nearest one I hadn't done. Big numbers - about 530- and three laps round big wide paths. Nice park, but not the most exciting of runs. Fast course, though - I bagged a rare sub-32. And I think that's what keeps them coming back...

Wimbledon Common parkrun had over 1,000 today (usually gets half that) because it was their 777th event, and it appears people like bagging numbers like that.

I’ve done Wimbledon a lot when there’s mostly 400-odd, must’ve been a bit hellish today in the muddy parts with that many!

Early doors on my London training plan, 10x10min miles today. Only my 5th run since the last marathon, so I'm pretty chuffed with how it's going. Just want to beat last year's time of 4'34, which will mostly be about sticking to the blue line and not running 28 miles again lol

  • Second visit to Dartford parkrun today - was tougher than I remembered it being! Good fun, though.

Dartford park? That hill in the wet is a killer.

Ha! Yes, I'd forgotten how tricky it was even in dry weather...

Proper fresh this morning, well done all who got out. Who run where?

Was nice to bump into @WSS at Greenwich
  • Anyone doing the Dartford Half next Sunday? Woefully under prepared for it but still looking forward to getting out on the country lanes.

Not quite at ParkRun level yet but been for 2 30 minute runs (with a bit of walking half way through) this week. Trying to get fit after far too many years of drinking too much beer 😂. Running is a lot harder than it used to be.

I am, I'll have a look out for you before and after. I'm hoping to be nearer 1:45 than 1:50 this time.

I did Lullingstone today, man it is tough.

Well done. I’d say you probably are at Parkrun level, the well supported ones are full of people who jog and walk (and even just walk). At Danson today of the 319 there, about 60% finished between 30 and 58 mins. You’ll find it really encouraging being around others.

I'll be pleased getting in under 2 hours! Last time I did more than 10 miles was the North Downs 30k last June. Will keep an eye out for you.
