Soaked to the skin at Hilly fields which was far too hilly and far too fieldy.
    Ticked a box mind

Back form my hols and back on top running form, kind of.  Got round Sutcliffe parkrun in one piece, skillfully avoiding the puddles and a man carrying a dog along the way.
My other half and i went to the London Stadium to watch the Diamond League this afternoon where the athletic talent was a few levels above and watched a great afternoon of athletics.

Got around Charlton in the rain yesterday - rain eased just in time...

Was away for two weekends before that - did Alstervorland in Hamburg last Saturday, and the week before I did Zamek w Malborku (Malbork Castle), near Gdansk, which is a great run that'd be worth a visit even if its name didn't start with a Z.

I did Zamek w Malbork (Malbork Castle) last year and loved it.  Gdansk is a real hidden gem of a European city break destination.

Did Ambleside West Vancouver Parkrun yesterday.  Closest of the Vancouver parkruns to downtown Vancouver. Great course.  Flat, paved and with views across water towards Stanley Park and Lions Gate Bridge.  As always with Parkrun,   enthusiastic and welcoming organizers and local runners.  A lot of visitors from UK.

I did Mile End which is another reasonably hilly bastard ticked off.
Sadly I might be stuck on 44/65 Londone for a while…

Hit the deck on my long run this morning after rolling my ankle pretty badly. Doesn't feel great and gutted as I'm in the best place ive been with my running for over 3 years. Hoping it clears up before the Big Half in September

Went over to Morden today - not the most exciting of courses and annoyingly undulating, but a lovely crowd of people. That's me on 64/65 London runs now - only Southall to go (on the 16th, all being well).
  • Up in Scotland doing the stunning Aviemore Parkrun.

Don't normally post on here, but yesterday I offered to pace 25 and came in bang on 👊.

A considerable improvement on last week when I got within about 30 seconds of the finish and realised I was ... Well ... Far too early!

I will now retire from running considering that my greatest achievement 🫡

Canons Park yesterday for me. A nice, fairly flat, 3 lapper.

The added bonus of pastries at the end and some very encouraging marshals made the 15 stops on the Jubilee line to get there worth it.

Did Queenstown Parkrun NZ on Saturday. Beautiful course along lakeside. Some soft forest trails and freezing temperature combined for a slower than usual run.  Well organised event with usual parkrun enthusiasm and welcome. Close to town with many cafes/restaurants etc.   Recommended if you find yourself in the area, which is stunning!

Charlton for the past two weekends.

The numbers there have gone up in recent weeks, certainly when compared with the other nearby parkruns - lots of slower runners/couch-to-5k people giving it a go but, happily, sticking with it.
  • Fulham Palace, two clubs I hate, parkrun was my destination of choice on Saturday. Lovely run alongside the river Thames with some very friendly volunteers and although it was pretty congested, possibly due to Battersea being cancelled, everyone kept left for the fast runners and ran considerately.
We had breakfast after in the River cafe, opposite Putney Bridge station. A real gem of an old school cafe.

And you get to jog past the Church that Dr Who got spiked from in The Omen. Sad times…

Charlton this weekend just gone, but did Southall the previous Saturday - really friendly and nice run. That's all 65 London runs done now - until the next one starts...

I've been in Singapore the last 2 Saturdays. First we did Bay East Garden which runs along Marina Bay and opposite many of Singapore's main sites. One side of the course has construction work, once that's done I think it'll be a bucket list parkrun. You start under the bridge on the right:

Then Saturday was East Coast Park, 2.5k along the coast and back. It's a bit greener so we preferred it.

They start at 7:30 over there and it's already sticky, stifling heat. I'm pretty well travelled and Singapore goes in as the hottest place I've been, so running was gruelling.

I had a twinged back so really shouldn’t have done one on Saturday but after getting 52 consecutive across two years, I really want 52 this calendar year so I went and done one and even in a bit of pain surprised myself for not being too far away from my regular rubbishy time but now I’m really jarred up and feeling like I won’t be able to go again on Saturday now…
    🫣😬😢

I am hoping to do the East Bay Garden next year on my way to Australia for a family visit.

    That is some view.

I achieved my 3rd highest age-graded score today (144 parkruns).  Providing you can stay fit for a reasonable period it is one of the few advantages of getting old !

Mrs Hex passed 200 parkruns but was a couple of seconds too slow to beat me !
  • Folkestone Parkrun today - glorious sunshine and a good (mostly flat) run along the Leas with views over the Channel. A very friendly set up and a more manageable 412 participated this morning.

Last week was the 500th at the course and 709 took part - smashing their previous record of 491.

My father in law, aged 86, normally joins us and Parkrun is the highlight of his week.

Barry Watson who competed in the 1976 Olympics is a frequent volunteer on the course.

Had to miss it this week due to this back twinge.
Will need to commit to a German Unity trip to reach 52 in 2025 but currently not up to looking at flights let alone booking anything 😢

Was just along from you @FremlinsFellow

Run this morning around Port Lympne, probably the best and most surreal run I’ve ever had amongst rhinos, lions etc. At one point had Guinea baboons running alongside us. Unreal.

Went for my first non PR run for months today. Gentle three and third miler to the post box and back. Got absolutely soaking wet. Loved it. Hallelujah! It's raining again.

Paced my mate to his first sub 22 5k at Norman park this morning, 21:50. 850 runners there.

Belton House in Lincolnshire for me today. On my absolute limit distance from home wise at 50 miles. A rare bit of tourism for me these days. Nice course. Nice and flat.

My first in Lincs. Just need to tick off one in  Oxfordshire now to have completed the many counties that border mine (Northants)
  • hi all,

Recently I have been losing weight... down to 113kg from 135kg at the start of this year. Took up running 6 weeks ago and now doing my first ever parkrun next Saturday.

Ran a few 5ks and my best thus far is 33mins. Really hoping to beat that, any tips on how to make me a bit faster in a short space of time? Really nervous about it all, hope I don't succumb to the pressure on the day or over exert and DNF/injure myself.

Do you guys have any food/drink before the run? Pacing tips? Don't think my parkrun has any pacers so I'm self-reliant in that aspect.

    Thanks all
