Managed to get out today for a 5k, first time I've been out in a month. Been absolutely shocking this year so have booked a few events to motivate me, just can not be arsed unless I'm working towards something.2

Started slow. Got slower7

Got back out again yesterday, twice this week. Blowing out of my arse doing a 5k, which is mental considering I ran a marathon in April.2

I'm celebrating finishing runner up at Kettering PR this morning, well in my age category anyway (60-64). First time under 27 mins for a while. A realistic target to aim for now is probably under 26. I can't halt the passage of time and it's effect on the body.

Bit of a slog today, heavy rain last night evaporated into some nice hot steam. Managed 28.30 so not too bad1

That was just about the most effort I have put into a parkrun and I was nearly 3 minutes outside my PB. I staggered to the line and heard several 'are you alrights' ! You do lose it quickly though. I missed 2 weeks and a training run while on holiday. Been back a couple of weeks the miss another run through injury. Still Mrs Hex says I should be happy to be over the 50% age graded score at my age.2

In Welsh Wales for the bank holiday weekend (also my birthday) and had looked up Parkruns and there was one across a beach about a 20-minute drive away so brought my trainers but alas the ridiculous volume of water falling from the sky ruined it for me…1

Managed 10k today, pretty much all in zone 3&4 so my fitness is slowly coming back.2

I've finished the parkrun alphabet today at Uckfield. It's a really nice, tough trail with decent facilities.
Certainly a better ending than pokey little Ifield Pond last week.5 -
Beautiful morning for 250 of us at Avery Hill this morning. My 74th Parkrun saw me post my 70th fastest time :-(
Anyone else get out this morning?3 -

Edit - Thought we might have regulars from Victoria Park Leicester coming over to do so some local tourism today as I assume theirs was cancelled. Very inconsiderate of those Party in the Park folk. Still Texas are on!

Yep, would have been my 70th but forgot my barcode! 28.18, not too bad considering a) it's warm and b) had a first PT session on Wednesday at the gym, and I never thought I'd walk again.
My eldest has decided she wants to do running with me now, but only 2k at only, it seems, at 6.45 am. We will see how long this experiment lasts3 -
Yep it was gorgeous, haven’t been for a while with two aborted tourist trips (N Wales because of a monsoon and Isle of Wight because of a hangover) just recently but made it to Clapham this morning with about 950 other folk for a sloooow time in the sunshine…5

A very pleasant morning for parkrun - around 19°, sunny and no wind. I did my usual (it seems) mid 33s and grandson ran his 10th grown up parkrun at the age of 10.

Thanks for this thread. My boys footy training has just moved to Weds from Saturday mornings so I may have to get back to some park runs. Used to go in about 27-28mins - imagine I would be well over 30 now5
-
I was 5th at Nobles parkrun - so technically I've had a top 5 finish in a race on the Isle of Man.
The course is around the TT paddock so has a lot of sentimental value to a bike fan like myself.6 -
Down to Great Lines in Gillingham this morning - they're using a temporary course at the moment which wasn't the most exciting but it's a lovely park. Nice crowd of people too - everyone seemed to know each other, which ain't bad for a 300-strong run! Would like to go back when the proper course is back in action (and when it's less hot!).
Also did Valentines in Ilford a couple of weeks back - that was a lot of fun.

Another gorgeous Saturday morning for it. Good crowd down at Avery Hill. Two midweek runs paid off and I managed to knock over a minute off last Saturday’s. Still got a minute and a half to find for my post-Covid PB, but feel it’s going in the right direction9

Perfect weather for it, but got a slightly disappointing time. Realise I'll have to run more than once a week to get any better!3
-
10°C at the Shorne start which my old body doesn't appreciate when standing around beforehand. Slightly faster today, I think (no times email yet), so maybe my 8k midweek runs are starting to pay off.2

Autumnal nip in the air this morning, but the sun out in M. Harborough for only my second sub 26 of the year, both within the last month though, so I'm doing something better.
Squeaky bone 🦴 relay tomorrow (4 X 3.5 mile legs cross country at Turvey house near Olney (Bedfordshire). My team has just lost it's fastest runner (by some margin) and I'm on anchor, which means there's a good chance some teams will have finished before I even set off. Oh well. Always next year and a possible wooden spoon tomorrow 😉1 -

Did the Westminster Mile this morning with my 10yr old. He did it in 7mins 30; me in 8.18. I was happy I could see him until half way! Lovely.weather and a few things to do in Green Park after. Pretty impressive medal for a mile run at the end!
Last time we did it was 2019 on play off final day. Hoping for a last minute winner at The Valley later.4 -

Tail-walked at Thames Path Woolwich so scored a personal worst of 1 hour, 9 minutes and 13 seconds! Hurrah!
Lovely morning for it, though, great views from the top of the hill.
I'm doing the London 10,000 tomorrow - my first 10k.7 -
