I think most people would agree we were the better side first half but needed a second goal but second half a different story and Wycombe looked most likely to get a second. Once we did score though we looked comfortable. Overall today is a positive start and we turned what could easily have been a loss into three points. On the train back to Leeds a happy man! Coyr4

I find Hector a concern. At times he plays as though he’s had a toke on the pipe. For someone so experienced why is it that I feel more confident when Ness plays? A very good decision by Mr Appleton to replace Hector.I still need convincing with Isted.Other than that Just give Miles the ball. He has ooodles of skill.6

Winning 3-1 when you are not necessarily firing in all cylinders is a fundamental requirement for promotion. We just need to follow that up with playing well and winning as well8

Jones had his best game for us. Thomas did well at left back. Isted dealt with their late crosses well. They were only dangerous from set pieces and apart from the goal and the header that hit the bar there was little threat.
Good subs from Appleton - when Camara and Fraser are back we have a very decent squad.
Early days but positive signs.
Admittedly highly unlikely they'll all be fit at the same time, but if they are we have a decent squad that should be play off contenders.
Defence still worries me though and i think we'd definitely have to look for reinforcements in January.1 -

I like the look of Louie Watson. He looks like a young Mark Kinsella. But he is young.I’d hope that we can offload McG, and Kirk in Jan. And I think Fraser has to make a case why we shouldn’t offload him too to help pay for a decent defender who is captain material. I don’t know what’s wrong with Hector, but right now he’s more a Naby Sarr on a bad day than a Jason Pearce. Definitely not captain material. And it does seem that Ness has gone backwards, but some decent coaching will hopefully fix that.3 -

3-1 win over an in-form team who will be looking to finish in the play-off spots and people are scrapping over whether we won convincingly enough. Cheer up lads, we did a win!

Feels like TC is starting to blossom into a key player. Was really good last year but can see he’s full of confidence and belief. Need to get him on a nice long contract ASAP1

Southbank said:Defence is still porous. The centre backs do not command the area and the boy from Udinese is too raw. Maybe T Watson will make some difference.
But some of our attacking play is very good and we look dangerous going forward. If Appleton can improve the defence we should be able to climb the table.
Oh and although Isted's handling was good he did not make one save. Has he made one since he got in the first team?
He had no chance with the goal.7 - Sponsored links:

Good performance, not great but good.
Kept going after we conceded (instead of collapsing). Alfie May could be our POS , great work rate and unselfish running. Miles goal after getting it caught up in his feet showed maturity and a player learning his craft.
Lot more to do! COYRS3 -
Good overall display but would have liked to play 2 up front . I thought ABANKWAH was very poor even though he was out of position- made a number of defensive mistakes , never went forward and always passed backwards . Hopefully Watson will start next week at right back3

It's not surprising that an actual RB played better than a teenager out of position either. Hopefully now T. Watson is fit Abankwah can go back to playing/covering his actual role and judge accordingly.10 -

He was our best defender today or at least as good as Jones.14 -
Nice to win a tight game. I do think defensively we are very vulnerable at times but so are most L1 sides0

There was a point in the second half where I absolutely despised Charlton Athletic. It’s quite a common occurrence to be honest. We’ll be winning a game, frustrate, concede, frustrate further, and then probably concede again. I’ll then have my mood dragged along the pavement for the next 7 days.
But not today! It took a Tedic “piledriver” to get in front, but by that point I wasn’t convinced it was coming. We are such a frustrating team. We look like we have so much potential when attacking but defensively we’re shaky and our end product is just dire. So delighted for Blackett-Taylor at the end, running with the ball he so often looks like Barcelona yet his end product is more Palma Nova. Not saying he was good, but first game I’ve not scratched my head wondering if Isted is an actual goalie or competition winner. Thomas was the pick of the defenders, with Hector looking like he is wearing leaden boots and Abankwah not looking yet up to the standard of a 0-80 min Asiimwe. Watson looked very comfortable when he come on.
Having a stronger bench than a few weeks ago made such a difference. Would we have won more earlier points if we hadn’t backloaded our recruitment to the last minute?I see Micky Apples getting tactical praise and you can’t argue with subs making a difference, but if we hadn’t have got the Tedic goal we would have had been properly under the cosh for the last ten as Aneke was blowing after 20 mins running and we were one up front then, we would have proper invited them on in injury time. Delighted Apples has got a home win to get him started. At the end of the day though the sun shone, I lost my voice, I celebrated the win like a Champions League one and we left The Valley happy that those b***ards won’t be miserably ruining my life for at least another 7 days.Up the Addicks28 -

He was pony last week & pony today.
He may be playing right back instead of right sided centre half, but you wouldn't want him in your Welling/Bromley etc team playing like that.
He's a complete liability & it's not his fault but hopefully he doesn't feature again for some time.9 -

We’ve got some proper strange fans. Unbeaten in 3 and a thumping win at home in the sun, and still the little digs and spiteful comments.
Enjoy the win people. We as a fanbase know more than most that when the sun shines you bask in it.11 -
There was every sign we were going to see our trademark fragility take over but instead we sorted ourselves out and won the game. It helps that we now have a lot of attacking options. I thought our strength was going to be our midfield but Fraser and Camara are big losses. We just need to compete until they are back. Defence don't look right yet but I thought Jones had a strong game and I can see that aspect improving. The main negative is Dobbo is one booking away from a suspension. We really need him at this time.1

Abankwah wasn’t even that bad today???
A couple of shakey moments last weekend and now everyone is picking holes in everything he does.17 -
He looked out of position but I thought he improved as the game went on.0
-
Abankwah was one of a back line that limited an in form team to one effort on target. Wycombe didn’t play with wide men so his job was slightly different to what it may normally be as a full back.
He’s young, a centre back playing out of position, adapting to a new environment.
I haven’t yet read anything that actually describes what he did wrong today.8 -
i don't need to justify why the scoreline flattered us - it just did. At 1-1 we were being run ragged at times and just because the keeper didn't have many saves to make is irrelevant. It's my opinion ( and others who have agreed with me)4

I also believe players are aware of what people post on social media, and saying someone is pony is insulting. He's our player FFS. It's possible to be constructively critical without using one word put downs.5 -

If you're offended then I apologise but your opinion, in this case, is wrong..in my opinion of course.1
