Friend Or Defoe said:No one wants AEW to fail and I'm not sure what's wrong with talking about how it is failing? Claiming it's something it's not is pretty strange. Seems only criticism of WWE is permitted. 😕‘Botchamania’ and ‘AEW Fails’ type pages encouraging people to criticise and alienate those who enjoy the product, just to give themselves a bit of attention. Yet the people who run them and follow them will be watching every single week. You can’t tell me there isn’t a fairly sizeable portion of wrestling fans who want AEW to fail, when all they seem to do is promote the company’s drawbacks instead of its wins. There’s a lot to enjoy in the current world of pro wrestling, I just wished it was celebrated a bit more rather than having holes picked in every detail to try and push some “I told you so” pettiness.2

I posted when Adrian Street died, nothing. Yesterday I post a preview of a new Von Erich show, nothing. Criticise AEW and this thread picks up. That's probably why pages like AEW fails exist. No idea why the internet is like that. I'm not even going to touch the i told you so comment. Apologies for being right.
Meltzer is probably their biggest cheerleader and has now started to criticise it himself.

The way I see it is an "alternative to WWE" means different things to different people.
If you want to watch Japanese strong style, lucha, death matchs, over the top gymnastics with no selling it's always been available. But people don't watch it in any significant number. This stuff was there before AEW.
What I want is an alternative place where people can go and work in a similar but different environment, on a similar kind of wage, so things get freshened up people move without giving up their livelihood. Back and forth of talent not only gives you fresh match ups it gives the talent a fresh coat of paint the opportunity to "go away and learn a new hold".
People like Rollins, Shamus and the like have been in WWE twice as long as Hogan's big run, longer than Bret was, without ever going away.
Look at the moments returns and debuts get. People still talk about Jerricho, Hall, Nash, Luger etc etc jumping over 20 years later. The reactions to Punk and Edge coming back. How can I miss you if you wont go away?
If you want the first one you have always had it, if you want the second one you still haven't got it and you won't while Tony indulges the EVPs and their friends to the extent he has done.

Spot on. An alternative to me is a major North American promotion which forces WWE to up their game. Their product hasn't been the greatest since the Monday night wars ended. Fair play to AEW for offering an alternative for talent to work on the financial side at least.0

Edge had a good run as well. The bloke has so little self awareness.0

Anyone going to tell him SIN CARA is going to debut to about 25% of the TV audience he had in WWE tomorrow?0

Who wants to tell him his show broke the "decades long" streaks of Chris Jericho, Edge and others?
Khan Snr needs to give Tony a timeout0 -
I was so uncomfortable with that Juice Robinson bit, it’s on the knuckle at any time but in the current climate, it’s very very poor & will be interesting if ITV keep that segment in.Just to add my thoughts, AEW got me back into Wrestling, I watched AEW solely through Lockdown, then I got drawn back to WWE but have recently returned - think attending All-In helped but I also went to MITB!Both companies are great, I think AEW tries too hard to come across as the indy upstart company, TK needs help with booking, the best move WWE can make is HHH being responsible for creative, you could tell when Vince came back.3

ITV will show it, doubt it will get much attention outside the bubble.
I don't use Twitter but it's no surprise that some people want AEW to fail if Tony Khan is posting that kind of nonsense.0 -
I think daddy khan needs to tell Tony to lay off Twitter for a bit.Bragging that NXT didn't draw 1 million viewers when your own show drew MUCH less is stupid.I like both shows, but he's making a bit of a tit of himself0

It's gone past the stage of eye rolling and groans. This man needs professional help and I feel sorry for him.1 -

Good to see Nick Aldis on Smackdown. Hopefully he'll be similar to Adam Peace and not have a gimmick or try and over shadow the talent. It's been good to have a neutralish authority figure after years of a heel one.2

Decent venue!
Promo video for the main event.

Decent event. Eddie Kingston looked legit embarrassed that he was getting more of a reaction than Tanahashi and that was put right before the bell. That maybe the last time he comes to the UK, he's a shadow of his former self.
Not a bad match but i can't stand kicking out of multiple finishers, which occurred in the main event unsurprisingly. Co main to a lesser extent, lots of back and forth. Ishii had stil go. Worth going to see him, Tanahashi, Red Shoes unno (!) and Naito live.
NJPW did an awful job of promoting the show. Loads of empty seats. They could learn from AEW. I was at the national sports center the week before Royal Quest 2 and had no idea there was an event there the following week. A few adverts on social media and they would have sold out.0 -

Watched some of the main event. Its really physically impressive, but is it actually wrestling?0 -

It was a great spectacle between two great athletes, but for me not wrestling. Very entertaining though.
