It's not compulsory to join in and it's not like it's being arranged officially by the Club.If Kenneth Noye was Charlton would we want the crowd to applaud him ?8

I know Dave went to Charlton but I thought Charlton wasn’t his team , just he had mates who supported us , is that correct .1

Then people piled in. Maybe, maybe ME14 should have said "I appreciate they'd want to make a gesture for him and celebrate his life, but this is a bad thing to do environmentally", and maybe she wouldn't have copped flak, but I bet that wouldn't have been the case.
I would LOVE to know how this is disrespectful, honestly. I cannot see it21 -

Whilst I didn't know the bloke I also doubt a self confessed gangster would give two hoots whether someone on a forum questioned a balloon release, people on this forum get more offended than he likely would have.
Fair play to ME14 for mentioning it, the environment was the first thing I thought of when I heard of it too and I have been surprised that it is not the majority reaction nowadays to such ideas.18 -
I think this debate over balloons has been done now. Let’s leave it there please.6

Think that video would genuinely bring me a bit of comfort if I was a friend of his, which feels a strange thing to say.0

This is an RIP thread which people have a choice to comment on as a mark of respect that is their choice whether too or not. No need to derail it into any other subjects. That’s isn’t meant as digging out anyone10

It's sad that someone's life has ended, so no need to derail a sombre thread.

Does it really matter. If you wish to applaud then you have the right to do so, or you can just sit there. The whole argument about ballon’s is laughable. Shouldn’t be an issue to kick around.5

Must be honest, no environment impact and animals etc crossed my mind for a second. People do these things with only with good intentions in mind
As for Dave Courtney, I don't recall meeting him, but I hope that he is able to RIP.
I know people who have lost family members to suicide and they never get over it. After watching the moving video, I would think this is would have helped his friends and family come to terms with their loss.
I can understand not wanting to live a life in constant pain with limited mobility. Its a choice I believe we should all have with the correct support to decide and help.4 -
