Short team thinking sam31100

Coming in between tough trips to Wigan and Portsmouth there's no way we're playing a strong side at home to Cray Valley. At best you might see some first team regulars on the bench, but i'd be amazed if we started any. It's simply not worth the injury risk.
Also we need to remember that our U18s beat them in pre-season, so a mix of back up squad players and U23s should be more than capable of getting the job done, although of course i expect them to raise their game for this.2 -

take it seriously, don't take the piss with a crap inexperienced side - we're live on national TV
We've a big enough squad to put a decent starting XI out and then make changes as and when16 -

A mix of fringe first teamers and U21s will get the job done. May and Leaburn on the bench if they’re really needed.

Seems like a good game to get minutes into the players coming back from injury. Although they might be susceptible to some industrial challenges0

Play a full strength side. End Off. The likes of Bowyer and Robinson took the piss out of the fans by playing second string teams and it always backfired. It's great that Cray Valley have got this far but let's try to rip them a new one , live on the BBC.20

Let's face it, we're not going up this year, and we're not going down.
Let's not add a massive cup upset to mid table division three mediocrity.
Full strength side out, get a comfortable lead, bring the youngsters on.
And whilst we're at it, open up all 4 sides of the ground, rather than acting like a two bob outfit.

Our U18s beat them 3-2 in pre season. If the U21s and a sprinkling of seniors can’t beat them relatively comfortably, we deserve to go out.
Play a full strength side and we’ll probably win by double digits - while risking a long term injury to key players like Leaburn at Welling.0 -

Young Addicks Impress against Millers
David Carter 1 Aug - 20:50Pre-season friendly - Millers v Charlton Athletic Academy XI
Pre-season friendly full time - Cray Valley (PM) 2 Charlton Athletic Academy XI 3
The Millers were made to work as hard as they have had to this pre-season by a young strong and energetic Charlton team, managed by former Charlton centre back Jason Pearce, who earned a deserved win at the Artic Stadium last night. The Young Addicks particularly in the first half looked impressive as they were able to ping the ball around and utilise their pace on the flanks.
Adam Coombes tested the Charlton keeper in the opening minute with a swerving shot that was well saved but it was the visitors that took the lead in the 6th minute. A well worked corner routine was returned to the far post for an open volley from the corner of the six yard box which was fired into the net.
Denzel Gayle equalised for the Millers on 21 minutes, cutting in from the right flank he finished well slotting the ball past the keeper into the far corner. However parity was short lived as six minutes later Charlton re-took the lead, a break down the left and a low ball back towards the centre of the box was slotted home by the arriving midfielder.
Second half and the Millers looked to restore parity once again, Michael Ademiluyi came close as his effort was hacked off the line by the Addicks keeper. In the 73rd minute the Millers lost possession in the middle of the park and a simple ball set the visitors through on goal and a calm finish from close range increased their lead to make it 3-1.
Malachy Turner one of the Millers Isthmian side U18 players, on as a half time substitution, acquitted himself well at right full back and going up for a corner went close with a header. After a raft of substitutions in an entertaining game, The Millers did pull a goal back towards the end, Freddie Parker doing well to head home Lyle Della-Verde's corner kick. Full Time 2-3.
The Millers end their pre-season on Saturday when Isthmian Premier side Dulwich Hamlet are the visitors to the Artic Stadium. Kick off is 3pm, hope to see you there.

Malachy Turner, released by us at U14, was the ball boy seen celebrating goals a few years back, all his family are Charlton fans and been season ticket holders for years and can be found along with Malachy in the Radical before home games. Very good chance he will be on the bench Sunday, he scored against Chatham Town in their FA Trophy win on Saturday.5

I hope we play a reasonably strong side on Sunday and that the team have the right attitude to the game1

We should show the fans, the opposition, the competition and the TV audience respect by playing a recognisably first team line-up.33

If we don’t win very comfortably with a large score it will be a very poor day.We don’t need to rest anyone unless injured. We don’t have many future additional fixtures to worry about because we don’t take cup games seriously enough.0

Fraser, Tedic, Chem Campbell, Ness, Nbankwah and Kirk all need minutes. Those plus AMB a couple of youngsters and first team regulars should be more than enough to win comfortably.

They’ll either be watching Antiques Roadshow anyway, eating their Sunday roast, or hanging onto every word of Jamie Carragher during the post match reaction of Luton v Liverpool on Sky Sports.
No one has this on their calendar because they’ve been dying to see Lloyd Jones and George Dobson playing against a side two tiers lower than Welling United.9 -

It’s games like this that offer the opportunity for adding goals to our strikers season tallies. They may not be league goals but they will be goals nevertheless. It will be a great psychological boost all round come February and trying to mount a promotion push if we have two players that are looking like they could realistically achieve 20 goals or more for the season.1

I'd be going for a bit of a mix and match side , definitely wouldn't have May or Dobbo involved.
