Entertaining night in the end, especially from the fat Millwall fan behind the goal second half, he was quite funny when he could string more than 4 words together1
-
Oh and congratulations to his mate who clearly finally hit puberty in the second half too, judging by the way his voice was breaking4

A clean sheet, your 'aving a Giraffe !
Good professional job by Cafc with the mandatory cock up to keep Cray interested until our two class players Dobson and May KO them.
CBT has gone AWOL in the last two games and Miles not at his best but thankfully Alfie May did play despite some comments on CL.

That first 5 minutes of the 2nd half was exactly how we should have played at The Valley. If we had gone 2-0 up in the second half it would have effectively killed the game off, but instead we allowed them to dominate play after the break and get their equaliser.
Tonight we were completely on top and scored twice within 6 minutes of the restart, killing the game off. The rest of the half then effectively became a relaxed training session.
Yes we had better players in our team tonight, but the likes of Kirk and Tedic are easily good enough to beat this sort of opposition. IF they work hard enough...5 -

Who was Lisbie Jnr giving verbals to in the corner after he scored the pen?He looked genuinely angry.1

Got the score right though, which is respectable. I saw us doing a Barnsley in reverse struggle first half 2/3-0 second.0

I do hope that result has helped the 'Embarrased' ones to get over themselves.8

Unique and slightly bizarre evening. All worked out well in the end though. Not sure why they didn’t give us a bit more room behind the goal.Rusty Bucket for a pre match pint was a great call and good to see @InspectorSands and @se9addickGot there at 7.20 thinking that would be good enough to get a spot in the front row. Called that wrong so very grateful to @SE7toSG3 for letting my lad stand at the front and get to see the pitch.I only really got to see the right half of the pitch, so fortunately that was where all the action was 2nd half.Getting ‘banter’ from the yoof lot who didn’t watch a single minute of the match was amusing.
The poor caterer in our bit must have had a nightmare as walking out they seemed to have 281 pasties still.
The March to Wembley is on. Bring on the Gills. All hail the Cray 282.13 -
A most enjoyable second half, although the comedic defensive cock up before half time brought back a few old insecurities. Ness misjudged the flight of the ball and failed to track Lisbie’s run but Walker’s attempt to clear the danger was, to put it mildly, unathletic. We really have to hope that Ashley Maynard-Brewer stays fit.
A thoroughly professional performance in the second half put the tie to bed and we were out of sight by the 60th minute. May, Dobson and Asiimwe were excellent and Jones brought a calm authority to us at the back.
What a great moment for the young lad, Mbick, to get on the scoresheet. I confess I’d never heard of him, although I’m told he’s only just turned 17. A good opportunity to get Kedwell some minutes as well.
Taking into account the combined £75K TV money for the 2 games, the £41K prize money for winning and the few bob from our 40% of the net gate receipts, this tie must be the most that Charlton have earned from an FA Cup tie for some years.4 -
First off well done Cray Valley. First half their intesity and organisation made them look leagues above their status.
Once again MA showed his ability to turn a shit first half into a decisive second.
Alfie May red hot, although his admission to being a bin dipper has scared his performance.

As the bloke next to me pointed out, tonight was the lowest attendance we’ll play in this season but also the biggest audience.8

I'm embarrassed to say I cheered loud those first two goals for us .
I fancied us to win but the shame of losing to that middle park mob would be too much to bear , the phone was warming up with grief at ht but went quiet thankfully.
if we got any more shitness left in us this season can we leave it all in our next fixture and go out of that bollox
let's get to Wembley in this competition que sera, sera1 -

Now, if Appleton had put that team out in the first game we wouldn't have needed to play tonight. Thought 6-1 was flattered us but they weren't in it after we scored our 3rd and the last 15 mins was just a training exercise in keeping the ball.
Echo the thoughts of other posters re CBT and Leaburn. Both seem really off the pace & just hope it's not because they have had their heads turned.
Great finishes by Alfie....he's so good they made a film about him 😃. Dobbo only scores screamer and the Mbick is 5 days younger than my youngest lad.....who only left school in the summer !
My only fear now is that I'm hoping my lack of an away stub tonight wont stop me from getting a ticket for the Emirates in January 😄.0 -

Would like to adopt Alfie May.0

Classic Charlton, lull the opposition into a false sense of security with a crap performance to force a second game where we smash them.0
-
Seeing May still chasing down the ball at full pelt near the half way line on 80 some odd minutes at 5-1 up tells you all you need to know about the guy.
The desire and engine on this guy, not to mention the talent - phenomenal.
He could legit get 30 goals this season and I don't think any of us would be surprised.

So I was in the home end, right in the corner and diagonally opposite the Charlton fans - so apart from the early attacks and May's first goal didn't get to see much meaningful action. That said, I'm made up that the Cray 282 got a close-up view of that second-hand performance. I said to one of the people I was with that Cray had scored at the wrong time, because Appleton would kick Charlton up the arse in the second half, and so it proved.
It was a weird atmosphere - a little rumble of "Miiiilllll..." around kick-off and some mouthy youths near the goal giving unimaginative abuse all match. And while there was a pocket of noisy fans the other side of the goal, most people were there for the occasion and it was good-natured. After our second goal the announcer tried to gee up the home crowd and didn't get a response. The most noise came from the generator and TV drone in the next field, and a police/guard dog going spare nearby...
Right at the end a group of older guys joined us and started fiddling with the fence. Going on the pitch? "No, we put this in ten years ago. Still standing as well. Each of these posts has an empty can of Fosters in. Did it all in one night. I was shitfaced by the end of it."
Went out to get the bus after and it was quite strange to see Charlton's team bus parked out in the Eltham Road, right by where the old Greenwich Borough ground was - no room for it at Badgers!
So yeah, a funny old night and I never really saw that much football, but I'm glad I got in.21 -
Alfie the Conqueror Laid Cray to rest..
if you know you know.... I suspect many won't.0
