Good night, strange night. First time I've ever watched a competitive Charlton match live and it didn't feel like a game. Hard to explain but probably down to the restrictions. I thought the steward next to me was a bit of a wally, I could understand he has a job to do but it was all a bit serious Sam and he kept tutting if people moved even slightly near him.
I know it's Cray Valley, but Alfie just keeps on impressing as the season goes on, May just be the best signing we have made outside the Premier league if things carry on, so glad he's ours. Solid run outs from a few players, was impressed with Asiimwe at right back, very athletic lad who can get past players and puts a shift in. Usual suspects also played well, liked McGrandles getting the minutes, really involved himself.
I think CBT has been poor for a fair few games now, was very good against Reading & Wigan but really hasn't delivered in the other games in that time period. Not sure if his heads turned or he's just struggling for form but he looked disinterested again.
I think Miles also looks like he's going through the motions a bit. Hard to read too much into a game against Cray Valley though as he probably thinks (and he's right) that playing them is below his level. I'll see how he reacts when he scores against the bigger clubs in the league.
Some funny chants started I have to say, got some real stand up comedians at Charlton, group of lads to my left have jokes like they've almost prepared them pre-game and two blokes to my right were coming out with some crackers too.
No video from me, when I got there I thought this isn't practical. Would have had to have held my camera above my head the whole game to get footage and didn't wanna annoy the fans around me with their already restricted view.13 -
Micah Mbick usurped the likes of Casey etc as they had their u21 game on the same night.
Will be interesting to see the young forwards used next week in the 'forgotten the name cup' for Cafc.

Only able to catch the highlights from which it seemed apparent that Leaburn and CBT will both be leaving in January.
Or at least, they very much want to.0 -
At home battling a bout of Covid, was a welcome tonic. Alfie’s goals very clever, always finds the right angles and goal. Very lucky to have him. Fear CBT defo going. Was playing brilliantly 4-6 weeks ago, started to look a bit anonymous in games. Pleased for McGrandles, very much finding his feet in the team now.0

Is he highly rated?
Already been in the U21’s a few times, and scored.
He and Fullah who is 16, and Rylah who is 18 on Saturday have featured way below their age range.
Worth remembering how young these players are if tempted to rush to judgement and criticism.
Tyreece has only just turned 20.0 -

Ness misjudged the flight of the ball and failed to track Lisbie’s run but Walker’s attempt to clear the danger was, to put it mildly, unathletic. We really have to hope that Ashley Maynard-Brewer stays fit.
A thoroughly professional performance in the second half put the tie to bed and we were out of sight by the 60th minute. May, Dobson and Asiimwe were excellent and Jones brought a calm authority to us at the back.
What a great moment for the young lad, Mbick, to get on the scoresheet. I confess I’d never heard of him, although I’m told he’s only just turned 17. A good opportunity to get Kedwell some minutes as well.
Taking into account the combined £75K TV money for the 2 games, the £41K prize money for winning and the few bob from our 40% of the net gate receipts, this tie must be the most that. Charlton have earned from an FA Cup tie for some years.Jones is great, but that doesn’t mean we should blame someone else when he messes up.Jones has turned out to be a very good signing and there are glimmers of the old Ness in his last couple of appearances. He’s still very young of course. Was unlucky not to score, and the praise for May’s finish meant he didn’t get a mention for his neat through ball over the top that landed in the perfect spot.3 - Sponsored links:

If anything, there’s probably a little frustration in him that this season hasn’t gone so far for him as he would have hoped. He’s learning and has a great career ahead of him. I wouldn’t over analyse at this stage.13

I'd hope to see both Casey and Mbick involved at some stage , Bower, Rylah and Kedwell I would expect to be involved too.1 -
Mbick spoke very well there
agree about Miles, something defo not right with him at the moment2 -
Doesn't Mbick speak with a maturity that is beyond his years, hard to believe he is just 17, the Academy input into the first team is blossoming very fast and gives me a good feeling for the future stars of CAFC, just need to keep them convinced their future lies here...

Mbick. What a lad...'I'm a bit of a handful' when describing his style of play.2

If he manages it we might have to reintroduce the 'Killer' chant.1 -

Has The Red Red Robin ever been played at an away ground ever before?0 -
Wonder if Charlton will go in for Lisbie. Looks a talent, and surely he would jump at the chance?

When Miles came off the bench against Bolton he was working his absolute nuts off. I think he's just struggling for form. He's not scored many so far this season by his usual high standards.2

Also great that Danny Murphy looked frozen by the end, ahh well not to worry.Thought Lisbie sized him up well with his comment about doing all the hard work scoring when Murphy had put the corner in (comments about a clip of them player together at Charlton)You are right though, think he likes to be seen as a Liverpool player. Perhaps easier for bragging rights with Shearer and Lineker back at the beeb.
In the same way, Lisbie is described as a former Charlton player when he played a lot of his football at the likes of Colchester and Orient later on in his career2 -
