Rodwell says January will be mostly about loans rather than permanents
I've not seen a January loan do anything...ever. And we've had lots of them.

The summer loans like JRS, Gallagher, Cullen & Beilik turned out to he good but we've also had loads of duds too.
Erm didn’t Ben Purrington score in the play off final?
To be fair, if we sign another Ben Purrington, I'm hardly gonna be dancing in the streets!

Paul Elliott has been reading too many management theory books.

I've got a question,  "Paul, why don't you have a chat with Curbs"?  :s

I actually thought that was decent and they were pretty open throughout, judging by the comments though I am in a minority here

Rodwell presented a slide earlier with a 24 man squad broken down into 8 "Elite League 1 players ", 8 Solid League 1 Players and 8 Academy graduates.

The January window is a bad place to do business which highlights the misplaced trust in the squad at the takeover and up until the seasons start
  • Thank god that's ended!

    Elliott on discussions with Curbs.
"It's how you learn. Exchange ideas on things with people who know more about things than you do"
Paul now has a better understanding on the workings at Bolton Wanderers and Curbs is planning on getting a ground source heat pump installed later this year

So only 16 senior players in a squad. Wow.

As much as I am proud of our academy and do enjoy watching our players develop, the fact we are having to play so many for so many minutes is exactly one of the reasons why we find ourselves where we are now.

Football is a brutal game, and even out of current crop who are essentially first teamers now, I’ll be surprised if any (apart from Leaburn) go onto have a career above league one level.

I think it is better they did this than not but we are a disillushioned fanbase for good reason. If they improve us they will get the plaudits but they haven't yet so will get the criticism and scrutiny and yes, cynicism as whilst they haven't been, we have been here before.

I feel we learnt nothing from that meeting, other than we have new doctor from Brighton coming in on Monday.

More chance of winning playing 8 8 8

I thought that they were fantastic, their vision for the club sent a shiver down my spine AND the promised additions this window had me in raptures... Then again I was not there and have no access to what they said!

    In summary.
We are aiming to reach the Premier League by reducing losses down to £1M/£2M pa and the transfer market is the most difficult ever.
Rodwell - "Where could we sign a player from that is better than Karoy Anderson?"

I'm off to look at our relegation price.

    8 elite players
    8 league one normal players
8 players promoted from the youth squad

    Hey Presto
Our Relegation Squad for 2024/25 right there for you
Allowing for injuries, as is normal, that would likely result in every sub on the bench being a youth player/ graduate, to bring on to change the game. Well that's gone swimmingly lately hasn't guys!!

Love to know the measurement for an "Elite" player compared to your "normal"one ?  Can they eat 3 weetabix for breakfast perhaps ?

    Very poor.
Their optimism is built on misplaced self belief, and what the club is like at Sparrows Lane during the week without any paying spectators or points to be won or lost.
@Covered End and I don't really get on, but I would like to thank him, and am grateful for him telling us about Rodwell blatantly lying about the Dobson/CBT reaction at a live fan event.
  • Has any of the recent league one teams that have gone up had the squad made up for 6 - 8 youth team players?

I think you can introduce two youth players of the right quality max. And you can add to that when they establish themselves. Some will quicker than others but Arsenal and Liverpool U-21s get beat by League One sides, and not always full first team ones, in the Mickey Mouse Cup. There is a reason for this.

I can't remember playing so many together and for the length of time that they have been appearing. It's normally one or two but even the senior players are not that experienced
