Don't think I'lm be buying a ticket for Saturday by the sounds of the last 90 mins.
  • As dull as I expected.

Having one person in charge (as with TS) causes problems, but at least you know the aspirations of the management and the owner are aligned. Here we don't really know the aspirations of the owners, how much they are prepared to invest, and how long they are prepared to stick it out.

Just getting ready with a beer and this little fellah.

Hmm that probably went off the scale very early

If the was meant to be a meeting to reassure our fanbase about where we’re going and how we’ll get there then personally I think it was a flop.

I really hope they’re trying to under promise for this window and then over deliver but I fear that won’t be the case… yet again.

Anyone asked Jim what he thinks about Area 51, yet?
  • Do we have any elite players? Serious question. Or is their definition based on salary.  So say a player whose salary is in top 30% for League One etc.

Can someone tell me what all this 8+8+8 is all about.

Rodwell presented a slide earlier with a 24 man squad broken down into 8 "Elite League 1 players ", 8 Solid League 1 Players and 8 Academy graduates.

    8 elite players
    8 league one normal players
8 players promoted from the youth squad

    Hey Presto
Our Relegation Squad for 2024/25 right there for you
    Thank you.

Love to know the measurement for an "Elite" player compared to your "normal"one ?  Can they eat 3 weetabix for breakfast perhaps ?
Imagine signing 8 elite players and another is avaliable but we say "nah you're alrighf, we've got to ensure Karoy Anderson gets a game"

We'll just have to reclassify Erling Haaland as a "league one normal player" to free up an "elite player" slot...

So only 16 senior players in a squad. Wow.
Not necessarily. Leaburn is an academy graduate, as is Maynard-Brewer, and playing devil's advocate, Terrell Thomas. I'd consider them all senior members of the squad now

Yes. The 2 that Rodwell said - well maybe quite not in these words - can eff off if they don't want to sign a new contract.

I think their definition of Elite L1 is a player all or most L1 clubs would want if available. I wouldn't put Fraser in that category. We are probably looking at May, CBT, Dobbo and Aneke from our current squad. Aneke is always injured so doesn't really count and it looks like Dobbo and CBT might be off. I suppose Powell did it. He managed more than 8!

The port vale game or the online meeting?

Well there’s that, though I don’t necessarily buy it myself.

Though I do understand whatever they said certain people, based on the fact we are doing so poorly currently, would have made up their minds anyway.

I didn’t watch it because ultimately I find not much is necessarily said at these sort of things, and whatever is, is either over analysed or dismissed/accepted straight away due to your confirmation bias.

The only things interesting it sounds that came out of this was the notion of 8+8+8. Which to me just rings so many alarm bells. I don’t think any team will have 8 elite players to be honest, it also wont have 8 youth team players. I think good squads will they will have 20odd players who have the right mentality, and the right attributes to play in the system(s) the manager requires.

None of these three is capable of giving a succinct and clear response to any question. Lots of repetition and verbosity.

    In summary.
We are aiming to reach the Premier League by reducing losses down to £1M/£2M pa and the transfer market is the most difficult ever.
Rodwell - "Where could we sign anyone from that is better than Karoy Anderson?"

I'm off to look at our relegation price.
Didn't listen as I'm in US at the moment but just read through and this comment is the most worrying to me as I've always found @Covered End to be one of the more positive and realistic posters on here. Worrying times.

  • it it is interesting that from the above around 90% think they have no idea and talk rubbish. Elliott of absolutely no use, he really embarrassed himself.
Let’s get rid of power point slides, save on consultants.
get decent players, win games, supporters will be happy.

    "Some peoples roles become redundant".

Who on earth can he mean?!
Belinda, who older fans will remember worked the shop when it sold clobber on behalf of the club leaves at the end of the month after 33 years.
     Redundancy.

  • The club has been run badly for many years, this lot at least seem to have put in an experienced management structure. Like most management teams they speak the speak which does include a fair amount of bullshit but ignore that and there is a decent foundation being put in place, whether they can build on that is open to discussion but at least it is now there.

I actually thought it was better than I expected.  Learnt nothing really, but it was good to hear Rodwell speak.  I didn’t expect anything tbh, but thought they might be more hostile. What disappointed me was the low viewing figures, hoped for better uptake than that.

But nor do any clubs supporters, why do you fell that they should share everything with you ,that's not how businesses are run, we all know how hard this window is, but I get that they are giving it a go, will it work, I don't know, but lets let them try, being negative doesn't change the outcome but being a optimist means you have a better time getting there.

    Guff of the highest order.
Im really not sure who it was aimed at?
If it was to appease the fan base I'll warrant a guess it was well well short.
More a begging bowl cry the yanks to spin a few more quid over for consultancy meetings and blue print creation that they've already spunk*d up the wall!

Don’t begrudge the event as something is better than nothing.  But in reality similar statements and aspirations to TS.

Until we see tangible signings nothing really changes.

A load of guff so far, very good at talking it up but the reality is so different from all these aspirational heights of the premier league
So many questions, but few if any solutions.

Hugely telling about where we are at imo and a worrying indication of where we’re headed, unless drastic change happens.

Talking a lot about what they'd like to do but no substance about what they're physically going to do!
    All questions and no answers.
They may as well have said we're complete shite and we're looking into it.
