I actually thought it was better than I expected.  Learnt nothing really, but it was good to hear Rodwell speak.  I didn’t expect anything tbh, but thought they might be more hostile. What disappointed me was the low viewing figures, hoped for better uptake than that.
Hugely telling about where we are at imo and a worrying indication of where we’re headed, unless drastic change happens.
    True, apathy.

If things do drastically improve all the loyal nutters that have stuck at it and slogged through the crap deserve a reward.

Not sure if has already been mentioned, but interesting to hear Roswell say that preliminary discussions around safe standing have taken place and that they met architects this week. Will happen at some point apparently.

Total waste of time, carefully scripted questions asked by a carefully scripted interviewer and carefully scripted answers that have nothing of real substance.

I'm praying they do well, but have no faith that they will.

Actions always speak louder than words. We all want it to work and I hope it does. Am I enthused after that?. Not really, but some good signings this window might help. Not good excuses why we didn't make them.

So only 16 senior players in a squad. Wow.
Not necessarily. Leaburn is an academy graduate, as is Maynard-Brewer, and playing devil's advocate, Terrell Thomas. I'd consider them all senior members of the squad now
    Terrell Thomas, good one...!

Came through the academy, didn't he?

So if someone, say Elerewe for arguments sake, stays with us for another 7 years and is in his mid 20's, would you still classify him as an academy graduate that's not a senior member of the squad?

    The "it's a sellers market"
The "you can have all the money in the world but doesn't mean anybody wants to sell to you"
The "January is about loans not permanent transfers"

Sadly says all we need to know.....

Can someone tell me what all this 8+8+8 is all about.

Rodwell presented a slide earlier with a 24 man squad broken down into 8 "Elite League 1 players ", 8 Solid League 1 Players and 8 Academy graduates.

    8 elite players
    8 league one normal players
8 players promoted from the youth squad

    Hey Presto
Our Relegation Squad for 2024/25 right there for you
    Thank you.

Love to know the measurement for an "Elite" player compared to your "normal"one ?  Can they eat 3 weetabix for breakfast perhaps ?
Imagine signing 8 elite players and another is avaliable but we say "nah you're alright, we've got to ensure Karoy Anderson gets a game"

    Haha, great minds;

That 888 nonsense is some of the most embarrassing shit I've ever seen

    how disapointing that was
8-8-8-8     think they forgot about the 8 injured
obviously not spending this window and no intention of offering Dobbo and CBT any improvement on there contracts offered

Not as bad as a Prince Andrew interview but not good.

Rodwell - "Where could we sign a better player from than Karoy Anderson?"

Oh do fuck off, if you believe that you're of no use to us.
To be fair he was saying we couldn’t sign another young player on loan as good as Anderson, not just a better player.

What is this 8 plus 8 plus 8 crap? Does that mean if we have 8 top L1 players we then aim for average ones? How many of the current squad would be considered in the elite 8? You could argue 3, some may argue 7 (not me). Would they class Fraser as an elite L1 player? Surely you try to get 16 elite L1 players and if you manage 10 you might not be far off!
Yes that should be your takeaway from that piece of information...
And when 4 of the top ones and 4 of the average ones get injured every season, you end up with 4 top ones May, Dobbo, CBT & Jones, 3/4 average and 4 kids.
So it's no wonder we're lower mid table, because that is what we're planning for.

I am sorry but we are well and truly in our 'banter era' firmly still. That slideshow shit was the most amateur, cringe thing I've seen for a while.

Was it made by a 12 year old?

Why are they listing slides with objectives that shouldn't be objectives, as every professional club should be doing them at a base level!

    Challenges Identified!

    Solutions?!

    Clowns.

  • Rodwell - ‘believe you me.’ I think he believes what he says but isn’t necessarily capable of translating that belief to the audience. A lot of soundbites and I don’t feel he really articulated many of his points. He bristled at the tougher questions, particularly around Appleton, Holden, CBT and Dobson - in more comfortable talking corporately rather than about individuals.

Elliott - Not sure at all whet he brings to the table apart from a seemingly personal challenge to use as many words of four syllables or more whenever he can. I totally support the drive for inclusion, diversity and equality but and he seems more than qualified to lead on that but what else?

Carter - ‘all about giving the tools…’ . He is a fan which gives him more credibility in wanting the club to be in better health than it is now. Hopefully he remains a fan first and foremost and represents us all.

I liked Lucy’s questions - I’m not sure Rodwell did but they need to be asked many more of this type of question moving forwards.

I wouldn’t waste too much of your brain power thinking about it. The “8 + 8 + 8” nonsense will be forgotten as quickly as it was dreamt up.

I honestly doubted the vision behind it all but thought they addressed all the questions well, so much talk of scripted questions but they clearly answered some difficult ones? They conceded that it's not gone amazingly well so far but are committed to improvement? Much better than the last 4 boards have presented imo

Spot on mate, they even dodged the last question about FFP and just tried explaining FFP to us instead.

It's obvious they're not going to back us, we are in a relegation fight and Elliott even said he's aware of it. The answer should have been 'no, that's unacceptable, we will sign the right players to ensure we pull away from a relegation battle'

    Load of crap
  • The 8-8-8 idea will come back to haunt them. As naive an approach as I’ve seen.

Just finished work so couldn’t make this.

    Couple of questions:

    - did Rodwell really say - "Where could we sign anyone from that is better than Karoy Anderson?" ?

    - did they intimate that CBT & Dobson would be sold this window?

you missed the first slide about the finances and performance of the club. the club has lost £45 million over the previous 7 seasons.

We have six senior players out injured at the moment, which is not unusual for us. (Taylor, Camara, Isted, Aneke, May, McGrandles).

In the 8+8 system, that would mean there's only 12 senior players available, so the bench would be full of youth players....... Which is exactly the situation we're in right now.

    Genius!

"All the young players have been an absolute sensation this season"

    No, they've all struggled.
And it's those statements that make me think this meeting was not pitched at the fans. We all know they've been woeful.
Your far flung, mildly interested American investor probably wouldn't.

Rather that than approach everything everyone says with cynicism. What out of interest did you think it was missing and wasn't addressed amongst general fan concerns?
