MATCH THREAD : Charlton Athletic Vs Peterborough Utd : Saturday 13th January 2024 : KO 15:00

Peterborough find themselves lying third in the table, and are a shoe in for playoffs at least, with a big chance of automatics still, we have gone toe-to-toe on 28 previous occasions, winning nine, Posh 11 and the remaining eight fixtures ending all square.
We go into todays match on the back of that dramatic, but at the same time disappointing 3-3 draw at Port Vale last time out, with CBT, Kanu and TC all finding the back of the net, but now hopefully with a boosted moral after the recent incomings..
Time for a win to welcome loanee's Tyreeq and Lewis, and of course our new permanents Conor and Macaulay...
Here we go...
Tyreeq Bakinson will make his full Charlton debut in today's clash... he comes into the starting XI as one of five changes made by Michael Appleton following last weekend's draw at Port Vale.
There is a place on the bench for fellow new signings Conor Coventry and Lewis Fiorini, while Alfie May and Chem Campbell return to the starting XI after minor injuries.
Lucas Ness and Terell Thomas also start with the Addicks expected to change shape from recent weeks.
Michael Hector isn’t involved with a hamstring injury sustained last weekend, while Corey Blackett-Taylor misses out after picking up an injury in training on Friday.
Harry Isted, who hasn’t played since late September after picking up a knee injury against Shrewsbury Town, returns to the bench.
It means the Addicks are expected to line-up with Lloyd Jones, Ness and Thomas in a back three in front of Ashley Maynard-Brewer.
Tennai Watson and Tayo Edun will likely operate as wing-backs with captain George Dobson joining Bakinson in the middle of the park.
Tyreece Campbell, May and Chem Campbell are expected to make up the front three.
Coventry, Fiorini and Isted are joined on the bench by Nathan Asiimwe, Louie Watson, Karoy Anderson and Daniel Kanu.
Charlton: Maynard-Brewer; Jones, Ness, Thomas; T.Watson, Dobson (c), Bakinson, Edun; T.Campbell, May, C.Campbell
Subs: Isted, Asiimwe, L.Watson, Anderson, Coventry, Fiorini, Kanu

Well this'll be interesting to see how we line up - Especially having three Centre-Backs, is this because what we can expect when Gillesphey is ready?
Is CBT injured, or is he on his way out... Conspiracy theorists... Do you thang!!1 -
I thought Appleton was welded to 4-3-3/4-2-3-1?

Edun can play in midfield but definitely reads like 343, hope May isn’t too isolated up top3

Cashoutitus is the issue suggested by one twitter user (nothing to back that up)5 -
A defence to give me nightmares!2

I begged the gods for a back 3, the monkey's paw curled, and Hector did his hammie6

No Hector no CBT hmmmmm0

If it is a change in formation it will be a first for Appleton. Pressure from on high maybe ? Something along the lines of "we should have sacked you but we are backing you....but only if you change your ways. Here's a load of new players, just dont try shoe horning them into your rigid system.

3-5-2 or 3-4-3 is better balanced.... I hope
CBT off I think
Derby quietly confident he's joining them0 -

If CBT is off glad I never bothered today tbh or for the foreseeable0

Very weak team - will take a draw ...0

No JCH for Posh ...0

Really can’t see us going to a 3-4-3 in the long term with our squad of about 100 midfielders.
But have mentioned with the extra quality we are looking to bring up top, and to get the best out of May (who has been amazing anyway) I wouldn’t be shocked if we are planning for a 3-5-2.Assume if so they have planned this with CBT always likely to go.1 -
Looks like a 433 to me with Edun in midfield and Thomas at LB. Can’t see a situation where we finally change our formation with that level of player but then who knows with Appleton0

That team.... fucking hell.1

bye Corey and thanks for the memories3

I don't see how it's still not the same formation with Thomas at LB.0
