If they could just leave a mound of earth in front of each goal, maybe 8ft high and then just turf over it?

Looking forward to seeing something green, and resembling a playing surface, assume all is on course, but that doesn't look great with just 8 weeks till we enter August, looking forward to your next and recurring updates Henry...thanks
These modern pitches can be installed very quickly, as Premier League clubs have replaced the pitch mid season. I assume that it will be the high tech turf being laid, rather than grass seed as with the older pitched?

Is this a permanent or semi permanent feature…..what’s it’s purpose?

Using my non-expert opinion and this 4 minute video from Villa Park as a guide, it appears as though we are at about the 2:15-2:30 phase of this process so just over halfway done towards a playable surface - if the video timelapse is consistent and not sped up in the last 90 seconds…

Would appear to be comfortably on schedule based on those assumptions.

    To play football on maybe?
  • Does the new pitch include new drains too?  I've not seen any photos of pipe work being installed.

It's amazing how quickly a new pitch comes together - every season Stoke would strip the pitch and as if by magic it would re-establish.

    It will be ready.

It's in the west stand car park and is, I assume, part of the new fan zone.

Hope it's perm, my kids will love it. Just be difficult to get them off to watch a game!

I'm wondering if all this will result in the pitch being a little higher than before?  I wouldn't imagine it would be the kind of slope off the pitch that you see at Old Trafford (which seems dangerous).

Not clear from my photos but there appears to be a wooden border to the pitch now.

Either that was there before but not visable or it is new.

Certainly the pitch seems to be higher than the touchlines now.

You can see the turf only being laid quite near the end of the process. Bad news for the pigeons though, as no grass seed is involved!

Someone chucked some magic beans in the pot holes hoping for a beanstalk and this is what they got.

Plenty of time I would of thought, they will be cutting that in a few weeks.

I am a bit surprised at this project given that parking space at The Valley is at a premium and what little there is, is very expensive and pulls in a nice few spondoolies!
A very nice addition for the kids of course, so there’s a good side to this.

I think I’m right in saying this was done a few seasons back……..paying particular attention to the Covered End where flash flooding was a problem from time to time.
There was a League game abandoned a few years back…..can’t remember who against?
Much to the annoyance of our opponents who were leading at the time…..a bit of luck for us as I believe we won the replay.

I seem to remember that the main issues with water logging was along the East Stand towards the Jimmy Seed.

When Leeds had the same pitch changed last season they built new dugouts, subs bench etc. I wonder if this is happening additionally

I think maybe, just maybe, that isn't a real photo.
