As long as we don't  adopt England's style of play. The west stand patrons will be asleep by half time.
That'll be 15 minutes later than usual. I am a west stander by the way.

whats the point of having a season ticket with those kick off times?  Probably couldn’t make half the games if I had my old life.  World’s gone mad. Thanks Sky.

Exactly what I am thinking, is it worth getting a season ticket now

I bought a season ticket not fully aware of the varied kick off times to come. I like the bulk of my football to be Saturday afternoons at 3pm, now I am alarmed about what happens to my regular football, and also when I have to travel to Andorra and pay Charlton TV the £10 to watch a game.
I am not sure any information will be spelled out clearly enough or in enough detail for someone like me to be able to see every single game (one way or another) as I did last season.

Do we know how many 5.30 KOs there will be? It looks like just the first one from the fixture list, i know some will get changed due sky but can't be more than a handful ?

Depends how successful we are. If we are in the hunt for promotion then there will be a lot of games that won’t kick off at 3 on a Saturday afternoon
  • Our opening game is away at Crawley. At 17.30. On Sky

I wouldn't bother opening the away end

Usually any fixtures anywhere near the south west where I currently live take place in January or February.  I am about to move to the north west and was looking forward to planning easy attendance at a few away games.  Apart from Wigan which is on Sky anyway they are all in January or February.

    They do it on purpose.

Championship, League One or League Two fan? Your team will be live on Sky Sports at least 20 times next season! Matches will be broadcast live across existing Sky Sports channels or on the brand new Sky Sports+

For some reason he has decided to post a comment about Southend on a Charlton forum rather than the Southend one. As we are obviously very interested.

That’s going to include six midweek fixtures, four international weekend fixtures, two festive fixtures, two Easter fixtures, opening day fixture and final day fixture.

That leaves four other fixtures (two home, two away?) that will be moved through the season - with the potential for extra listings later in the season if the team is doing well.

Overall, it’s really not likely to be as disruptive as people are fearing.

That’s going to include six midweek fixtures, four international weekend fixtures, two/three festive fixtures, two Easter fixtures, opening day fixture and final day fixture.

That leaves three or four other fixtures (two home, two away?) that will be moved through the season - with the potential for extra listings later in the season if the team is doing well.

These are the games that are practically guaranteed to be streamed/shown by Sky because they fall into one of the categories in bold above:

    Wigan (A) on Sat 10/8
    Rotherham (H) on Sat 7/9
Bristol Rovers (A) on Tue 1/10
    Burton (A) on Sat 12/10
    Barnsley (A) on Tue 22/10
    Peterborough (H) on Sat 16/11
    Crawley (H) on Tue 3/12
    Cambridge (H) on Thu 26/12
    Wycombe (H) on Sun 29/12
    Crawley (A) on Wed 1/1
Bristol Rovers (H) on Tue 28/1
    Barnsley (H) on Tue 4/3
    Peterborough (A) on Sat 22/3
    Mansfield (A) on Tue 1/4
    Northampton (H) on Fri 18/4
    Wycombe (A) on Mon 21/4
    Burton (H) on Sat 3/5

Only six of these would be traditional Saturday 3pm kick offs. Two of them are opening day / final day and will be moved to accommodate the blackout rules. We’ve had this for a few seasons now on final day fixtures, but unfortunately it’s coming to opening day fixtures now too.

The other four Saturdays fall on international break weekends where the blackout rule does not apply and so can be played at the traditional time of 3 o’clock. That, or they’ll be postponed due to call ups and streamed as midweek fixtures. Either way, these will help all clubs reach the 20 game minimum with as little disruption as possible.

Everything else on the list is either a midweek fixture that can stay as a usual 7:45pm kick off, or a bank holiday where midday kickoffs or later evening kickoffs are expected anyway.

You’ve otherwise got roughly 30 bog standard Saturday 3 o’clock fixtures per season - and Sky will be looking to move 3-6 of those per club I would guess?

So you’re looking at 10-20% of Sat 3pm kick offs being affected throughout the season.

We want it to be as disruptive as possible this season if we are getting promoted.

It will only affect the season ticket holders and regular away supporters with different kick off times. Makes no odds to the ones who for whatever reasons watch it indoors.

Our new CEO and Carter was asked this question last night. The 400 - 500 grand was mentioned.

@Hertsseasider is a Blackpool fan, has posted on here for a few years now, he's just saying that there wont be many fans travelling to Crawley.

All league one matches are 5.30 league 2 3pm and championship 12.30. Is this going to happen all season
No, this is basically only for the first (and possibly last) game of the season. We will have more unusual KO times but most will still be 3pm
Home games on a Saturday afternoon will still kick off at about 3:04pm.
    And finish about 5:15.

Wigan have been getting in prem loans I see.
As it is an away game first it isn't a must win, but it certainly is a must not lose.

We are playing established sides early in the season.
If we are very competitive and get decent points in the first six matches, then as a team we will establish credibility for ourselves.
Is Orient at home (our first home game) a must win?
    Absolutely.

    Horrific

What’s funny? Obviously no change to the status quo is preferable but it feels like people are expecting games to be moved every other weekend and that’s not true.

It’s going to be annoying when a game does get selected and it’s going to be especially inconvenient for those who go up and down the country. Not trying to get away from that fact.

A top 6 team will see the fixture times moved a lot I imagine.  @clb74 has a point.
