One for the bookies there, don't think anybody saw that coming.

Hopefully Josh Kerr can follow in Keely's footsteps and live up to the hype and deliver the gold.
    Agreed.

But he's not the most likeable fella on earth.
Exactly that. I just can’t get myself enthused with Kerr
Talks the talk a bit too much. Still an Olympic silver is an amazing achievement.

Kerr will be disappointed to come second, but delighted it wasn't to his big rival!

Terrible tactics from the Norwegian really.

(says me sitting on my sofa)
I'm thinking he didn't think he could beat Kerr without trying something different. it was certainly ballsy to try and lead it from the front but you could see he was beaten at 1200m. superb tactics from the Yank though, fair play

Absolutely! The third favourite was 20/1 just before the race and I assume Hocker a little bit longer than that

great, very fast 1500 .. the two main combatants burnt each other out and to an extent handed it to the Hocker .. BUT the American has form, had to be up with the pace and has run the race of his life (so far) .. super race

    The steeplechase is nuts.

    3,000m you say? No problem.
Over hurdles you say? Go on then.
What, one of the hurdles is landing down into a pool of water? What kind of sick person are you?!

Josh Kerr doesn't look too upset as he had to go with Ingebrigtsen and he went past the Norwegian at the right time but unfortunately the fast finishing USA Hocker saw the door open on the inside lane and he stormed pass to claim an unexpected Gold.

Josh Kerr sounds a decent guy in defeat and it was a quick time, yet Hocker was like a rocket on the last lap.

Apparently God carried Hocker down to the finishing line 1st which seems so unfair for any Atheist runners.

And ran an Olympic record.  That wasn't a win by default like some will report - as you say, ran the race of his life.

Feels like it could be double bubble for Alfred in the 200m with Thomas 2nd and Neita 3rd if she brings her A game and can beat Brown USA.

Frustrating that GB get a 4th place double in the women's sprints

Unlucky for our girls there  People still can't get anywhere near Flo-Jo's world record. Can't think why

Was it flo Jo's 100 or 200 that was possibly wind assisted? Appreciate that's probably not what you meant

No Double for Alfred but gets the silver with Thomas the 200m specialist getting the Gold with Brown just beating Asher-smith and Neita for Bronze.

Yet another dodgy bit of judging in the boxing. So many politics involved.
  • The Brockley sign has been updated.

  • Bit baffled again by the judging again in that fight. Richardson scored well with judges in second round yet they still gave the fight to a frankly knackered Mexican in the third.

The 100 - 10:49. Wind gauge was clearly faulty - it read 0.0, despite reading about 5.0-7.0 at other points in the meet, and with the long jump gauge reading about 5 at the same time. You can see hair and race numbers flapping around in the wind whilst they were in the blocks

I don't understand the judging in the boxing at all. I thought Richardson had that after the final round where the Mexican fighter didn't seem to offer much at all.

Scrap the boxing. Does nobody any favours other than the judges banks balances.

am I imagining it or was the boxing previously scored based on number of scoring punches were landed? i've got it in my head that if 2 out of 3 judges pressed their button at the same time then it scored, most punches landed won
