Please don’t derail what has otherwise been a great thread, full of positivity, with the usual nonsense from those who are old enough to know better.
Agreed. I would suggest that Admin remove the defamatory post and everything that follows it.

    Just one person.
    One.
    As usual.

  • I am so impressed again this Olympics with the interviews with the athletes.
Even in the immediate post event analysis they are erudite, speaking with clarity and intelligence.
Barely an “um” or “err”, it’s great to witness their passion.
  • Skateboarding on currently, Sky Brown in the third group after recovering from a dislocated shoulder.
  • the Chinese girl is 11 years old !!!!!!!

No luck on the horses today 😟

That's it from them, until we see the unfortunates used for the Modern Pentathlon for the last time as they will be replaced by an obstacle course for the athletes to negotiate in 2028. Hopefully we won't see a repeat of the mistreatment of Saint Boy that ultimately did for Annika Schleu in Tokyo 🙄
I'm surprised they haven't copied the "randomness" of the Pentathlon horses elsewhere, to add excitement. The triathlon would be shaken up if they had to use a central pool of randomly allocated bicycles, in varying degrees of maintenance  :D

Sky Brown is one tough cookie.
Sky has a brother called Ocean Brown and a British dad called Stuart and her Mum Meiko is Japanese and the family moved to the USA from Japan where Sky was born.

A very International Girl, still only 16.

I thought a lot of people used performance enhancers in the past but got away with it.
The Irish swimmer Michelle Smith reportedly used to put a whisky soaked finger into her wee wee when tracked down for a random test in order to confuse the results. I used to also think that amongst others Steve Cram was as dodgy as they come and he makes a living as a commentator.
Are you out of your mind? Serious question.

I clearly said I ‘used’ to think, following on from the comment about the Irish swimmer.

What a stupid thing to even mention? I'm not convinced you're entirely sane, tbh.
  • FFS get this knob cheese banned, it’s gone past ignore stage now.

Now ruining the best threads on here.
    Are you surprised? Same old.
  • The commentators were banging on about Joe Clarke being in another event, thought they mentioned the canoe sprint but not seeing him anywhere. Anyone know?

Not surprised, just fed up of seeing it.

Came 4th in the kayak singles then got silver in the kayak cross, if the latter is the answer you're after?

There has been discussion regarding transgender issues, and several comments about Chinese competitors being cheats. Maybe it is because they are Chinese.
    All on this thread.
I have made a comment about something I used to think about in the past, as people make comments about what they think about Chinese athletes now. Are those who make those remarks insane?
Michael Johnson has been critical of Steve Cram in relation to things he said about Justin Gatling, so discussion on these matters is something that happens.
I also said Cram was a good commentator.
Previously on Charlton life I remember a well know poster talking of Linford Christie and Tessa Sanderson climbing out of windows when testers turned up.
    Is anybody entirely sane doc?

Don't think so...I thought it was during his Kayak Cross semi final they mentioned him doing the sprint and having a chance due to his power. Must have imagined it!

Edit: Yep, watched it back. Misheard. They said he'd be good in it.
  • “Womens” skateboarding should really be retitled “girls” skateboarding - amazing from these youngsters. Hope our two go well.

To my completely ignorant eyes Sky Brown seems a cut above the rest.

Edit - as I type this she comes off of her skateboard!
  • Are Spain under-performing with only 9 medals [1 gold]?
I guess Norway sweep up in winter olympics, but surely they should have more than one medal?
  • Finally caught up with the artistic swimming as Discovery+ clearly cocked up the timings yesterday.
I cannot stress enough how blimming difficult it is and how amazingly fit these athletes must be to do it.
The commentator actually said that they train for 8hrs a day. The Aussies even live together in Perth they’re that committed to it 😳
Give it a watch folks, my favs were team USA…….they even managed to replicate the moonwalk as they performed to Smooth Criminal lol
The Chinese hold top spot after day one.

    A one sport country  ;)

I'm amazed at how poorly Germany do these days as well, considering their size and the success of previous FRG and GDR teams.

Tennis and football are so huge over there and that's not many medals available!

    Call your lawyer then.
Nice. You defame one of this country's greatest middle-distance runners based on "guesswork" and show no remorse. Shame on you.
    Prove ‘defamation’ from me then.
My comment is above for you to work on, and you seem to be a legal expert, go for it.
Is this defamation? Asking for a friend.
