  • Lost my crystal ball so no idea how this game will pan out. So for absolutely no reason I’m predicting a 4-0 win.
Meanwhile in the real world, I suspect our lack of punch up front is due to a lack of flair from the midfield. Plus our wingbacks centre’s have been poor so far.
I predict whoever is our most influential player on Saturday will get clattered - HARD by Pratley, (bless his cotton socks).

Some of the talk is about their dodgy keeper but in order to put this to the test we’ve got to have some attempts at goal 🧐

Is Meantime Fans Bar the same as Crossbars? If so I emailed the club monday and they said the Fans Bar opened at 10am. A little different from the information on the link

Only 1800 tickets sold for Orient as of this morning. They brought 3k last season and would surely have done over 2k again if this hadn't been moved for sky

Very disappointing but predictable, given the early kick off and the fact that the game’s on Sky. I reckon that Orient would have filled the Jimmy Seed Stand, like they did last year, if this was a non-televised 3 o’clock.

I expect the level of home attendance will also be affected, particularly for those living a fair distance from The Valley.
  • Plenty  of lovely one touch football between Clare and Pratley  in their own half.
    Sideways, Sideways, Backwards.

Slightly surprising though. It's not as if they have far to travel.

Blackwall tunnel being closed won't help either

Cue a 25 yard pile driver from one and a diving header from the other!

Factor in the Blackwall tunnel closure as well.

I think we'll win 1-0 with a late goal from a defender and everyone will be moaning about losing May

That was so last week !

I'm very much looking forward to Sean Clare having to deal with the new high press.

And if the Blackwell Tunnel wasn't fucked.

Back to the team that won 1-0 last week with the view that Godden will be back against Bolton.

At home, I think it would be nice to see a little bit more of an attacking bench, we don’t need 3 defenders really. But who would come in for one of them I am not sure.

Orient will try and make things difficult and I’ll be interested to see how Anderson fares against the experienced Pratley.

Ultimately, our home form is going to be so important to any success we have this season. A winning start is crucial.

Need to fulfil any early dominance with goals. It's still just the second league game but a lack of clinical finishing or even a lack of chances being created will cause Nathan Jones and lifers some sleepless nights. Same side as at Wigan and a one nil victory again but not a game to ease the doubts.

Not sure if you guys are aware but Spurs' Jamie Donley, who made 4 subs appearances in Ange sides last year, signed on loan for Orient today.  Not sure whether he made the signing deadline for tomorrows game but if he did, definitely one to keep an eye on.

He was a key part of our very strong U21 group last season.

    Balls hate 12.30 kick offs
  • 2-1 by end of first half followed by some desperate (and probably dire) defending to see it out with no change in the second half. No insight just a realisation that whenever I truly consider a game my guess is always hopelessly wrong.
  • Not sure about this one. On paper it is a chance to show what we can do before more tricky games come along. But we do not create too many chances. Honours even, 1-1.

Who's in goal for our opponents this week?
I hope it's Mr Clumsy and not Mr Mean.

It was Mr Tickle last week, hopefully by the end of the game their keeper will be Mr Angry.

Normally on holiday for the first home game of the season. As both me and the lad are going am expecting a slightly turgid 0-1 reverse but hoping for a thumpingly aggressive front footed 3-0 win
  • I’ve felt confident about this one all week but with six hours to kick off, the doubts are creeping in. It feels like an important game to win.

Leyton Orient have a dodgy keeper - also at fault for goal in cup game - plus Sean Clare at right back. If we can't score a couple against them we are in big trouble. I predict a fairly comfortable 2-0 home win - no idea who will score our goals though. If Pratley gets any game time he must be odds-on to get a yellow card!
Their keep is someone had an eye on for a couple of seasons now and suggested we look at him.  I’m pretty sure he will come good and is just settling in.

he’ll clearly get changed in a telephone box against us!

I hope for a strong, decisive win.  2-0

When you look at our upcoming home games….this one sets the tone somewhat.
    Bolton
    Blackpool
    Birmingham
    Rotherham

3 of those 4 are likely to be to be our toughest home matches all season so it’s important to go into them with momentum. It’s also a chance to make a statement to the bigger teams in our league.  We want them to come here, not have a nice time, and to leave thinking “shit, Charlton aren’t messing around this season”

    that starts today!
