I’d think it would be quite a conversation to persuade the owners to get in an expensive striker given the options we have. Taylor would be fantastic but I’d think it extremely extremely unlikely.
I get what you’re saying but I’d hope we are always going for better players whenever we can. Now is the time to really build the squad quality after such a positive start and I have a real feeling we’ll try to do that, in a good few positions on the pitch.
  • It’d be proper greedy because we don’t need a striker (Ahadme, TC, Godden, Aneke, Leaburn, Kanu, plus Dixon too) but the more Luton stuff I’m looking at for Campbell…

the more I’m seeing that Joe Taylor might be available before the end of the window.

Heavily linked with Huddersfield - I suppose they’re still looking for their Alfie.

Kanu out on loan and Taylor into the squad? He runs his nuts off, is as fast & as strong as TC… with goals
I do wonder if we might loan Kanu to league 2. He clearly isn't going to feature much if the others are all fit and will be even further down the order when Leaburn returns.

It'd be a shame to see his career stall sat on the bench or even worse sat in the stands and he's way too good for U23 football.

Worth people remembering the division between the strikers' roles. Ahadme, Aneke and Leaburn will be expected to win physical battles and high balls and hold it up. TC, Godden, Kanu and Dixon will be expected to provide tenacity, pace and box nous to get some goals and stretch play. So really the conversation you'd be having with the owners regarding Joe Taylor would be asking to have yet another player to put in the pile where we already have four players. It's not going to happen

My cousin, who is a Dundee fan tells me they are supposedly keen on Scott Fraser?

    I’ve apologised in advance
Anyone got Frasers address?  I am taking him.

leaves us with 5 for the midfield 3 spots (assuming Tayo,Fraser and Taylor all leave)

Another one who will know the system and what's demanded of him with good experience of a higher level too, hopefully we've got an agreement in the loan to purchase him if he plays well this year

Can't say I know too much about him. Is he competition for Coventry is he more like Berry/Doc?

Sounds like a Pratley type, which in this league is a something you need. Would still like a 10. Hoping the club are targeting that position this week.

Can't see Tayo leaving, especially with Edwards being out at the moment.

A-Are... Are we going to get to Friday and it be a bit of a meh day for incomings, because our business will be done?

Wont even need to sign someone like Potts before Friday, what with him being a Freebie

It’s been said before, but the way Jones wants us to play does not really accommodate a traditional number 10.

Millwall fans cracking up and saying “good luck with him” - they had him under Edwards who wanted midfielders to get the ball down and pass it

Luton fans looking at it and saying “lump on Charlton to win the league” - they had his best form under Jones who wanted defensively disciplined midfielders

He’s a central midfielder - he is NOT a creative central midfielder but he is very good at being a spoiler. Jones absolutely loves him. I see him as Conor Coventry competition.
The man's just shut down the 'best team in the league' and we're saying he specifically - just him, not anyone else - needs competition? Come on. Campbell is in as a squad option, not 'competition' for a guy who's clearly one of our best players

Do you? What if you can have people that give Pratley's level of effort and discipline, but also manage to pass to teammates sometimes?

No one should be untouchable in this team - if there’s quality available we should go and get them regardless of what position they play.

Of course. It's a great signing as it gives us strength in an area where we can expect injury due to the amount of effort expended and engagements with opposition players. Reducing it to 'competition' with one player is ridiculous

We don't need a number 10 but we need a midfielder that can dig in but also play clever little passes, a new Kinsella.  Somebody to just slip passes through, basically Fraser with passion and workrate.

This does not make sense. Everyone of our players are squad options, and he will of course be in as competition for a position where we don’t have any back up.

Which is good thing, because competition will push them both on.

Coventry, Berry and Docherty are not exactly what you'd call uncultured cloggers, are they. You wouldn't say they don't have the 'clever pass' in their locker

Campbell is in contention for three slots, not one, is my point

The way that Jones has always spoken about loan deals, it does feel that Campbell is here to challenge Coventry from the bench rather than to oust him from the starting eleven - Its needed as well... Lets be honest, on Saturday we made three changes, two in attack one in midfield, with the majority of us a bit unsure whether the game suited Karoy or not.

We've got plenty of cover in attack, same for our Full-Backs with Watson ready to cover either if they're tiring.

But looking on the bench these last two games, and we've very few Midfielders to even come on and allow Coventry / Docherty to have a rest. Based on where he's played (Going by ButtleJr's post below), he looks like someone who can sit on the bench and act as cover for any of the three, which'll be vital as the season progresses.
