Alfie May- Progress at Birmingham

  • Alfie is really very good.... at one specific thing. When the set up and formation are right to give him chances then he's always a goal threat, and that's a very useful tool to have.

But he's very used to being the big fish in the pond (justifiably so given his record) and maybe that’s where he had issues with Jones.

I'll risk repeating myself from before the season, whether selling Alfie was good business or not ? we will see at the end of the season but its undeniable fact that he didn't want to be here anymore and it's probably true that Jones wasnt distraught to see him leave. Now the fact he wasn't Jones main man in the team may have been a contributing factor to May deciding to leave but you only need an iota of sense to see that it wasnt the main or even a large reason for going, again - 31/32years old, wife from the north of England who takes most of child care responsibilities, never earned a huge amount, offered life changing contract and playing for a team which is pretty much nailed on to achieve something - I don't blame him.

But ignoring all the reasons, if we achieve play-offs this season it was good business. As for anyone saying play-offs isnt good enough we need to be top 2, have a bit of humility. just because we are a big name in this division doesnt mean we have an automatic right to success and there are teams just as big with more financial resources. I'd love to get promoted automatically but its a bonus, also Alfie being here doesn't guarantee automatic promotion, just like it didnt guarantee last season for us or previous season for Cheltenham

  • Just 48 miles so next door really

I think fantastic touch is pushing it .
See Kayne Ramsey booking last week
  • Both 1 in their last 7 so maybe 👀
2 for Ahadme really. He has scored at both ends so please don't discredit our gass.
  • "Keep Right On" Birmingham vlog with 2 fans rate AM as 8/10 Stansield gets 7.5 and 8
  • He is definitely not a bad player. I would still have him. Better than a few options we have at the moment.

Took one for the team, can't fault Ramsay...🙄
  • I didn’t know Motown was found in Dublin, you really do learn something new, every day!
Surely you've heard of Smokey O' Robinson !

Stansfield misses out on England U21s tonight due to an injury.

Alfie might be getting more minutes if Stansfield’s injury is a more serious one..
  • 1 goal in 8 for Alfie now
  • Both goals Tuesday night were from AM assists. If you don’t score them, make them

  • Birmingham must be regretting getting him now , they look like they’re struggling
Any thoughts on Alfie’s goal drought though?

It’s a new season and he’s at a new club but the rule from last season still applies…

If Alfie May stops scoring Charlton stop winning

Didn't he get a couple of assists last week?

    He did. Your point being?

Obsessed. Let it go mate. He has gone.

So we can keep bumping this thread when he’s doing well so people can have a moan but if he goes through a dry spell it’s “obsessed” to talk about it.

Let it go? Nah I’m alright.

  • You ok babe. Cheer up. Everyone else is celebrating getting a point against the mighty Wrexham on our big day out and you're bringing up some chap in Birminghams stats 🤣
  • He'd still walk into this team and be the best player, so I don't see why his goal drought is being highlighted. All strikers go on droughts, unless you're at the top top level
I’m doing it because he went through a goal drought here last season and everyone found a way to blame everyone else. Alfie was, still is for some, golden boy.

Now he’s in a better team it’s valid to point out that it’s still happening.

This is the player he is, he will go through hot and cold spells whether he’s at Cheltenham, Charlton or Birmingham.

I’m good! You’re the one replying to stats, maybe it’s an obsession I’m not sure… :-)

I'm buzzing mate. Nicked a point and our xg looks good. Couldn't care less about some fella for Birmingham. He has gone mate 👍
  • Well he’d play in his industrious way and score and create a touch more
  • How would he do that? We’ve already got a player who scores goals at this level, at about the same clip and for cheaper.
Alfie May is hands down better than Godden.  Not a fully fit Leaburn but come on now Callum.

    Behave!
