My out laws live on Anglesey, there’s no pub in their village.
I was hoping to pop over and meet up with them for this one but all this nonsense has put me right off.1 -

queued for 25 mins to get in, but considering how busy thought service was good today. Really nice atmosphere and buzz in there today.Still breaks my heart paying £7.40 for a Peroni!1

Fanny Fanackapan said:I am SO angry after reading this announcement , just 24 hours before the flood gates open & the thirsty hordes cram into Crossbars to take advanyage of this "wonderful offer".
So, the regular fans, the lifeblood of our football club who support through thick & thin, rain & shine & whose matchday habits for EVERY Saturday home game are to meet their friends & family in the one fans' area available under cover where they can sit for up to 3 hours before ko & catch up over a drink or three , will face disruption to their plans.
Many of those regulars live over an hour's drive from SE7 , others arrive by train , some may have seen this "offer", others won't .....Who will take my bet that Southend tickets for next Saturday will go on sale tomorrow, meaning more milling around the Ticket Office area earlier than usual on the last matchday before the seaside trip.
Forward planning with the FANS in mind, my ars*. But what's new ?
OK, this post is motivated by our own long term plans for tomorrow but with many others in mind who will also be affected.
Some weeks ago, I heard from sillybilly /Jim that he was finally coming over from the IOW for the first time since his life changing operation in 2021and wondered whether we could meet up before ko and that he would love to put faces to CL names /say hello on the day to some of those Lifers who had supported him at the worst time in his life.
Arrangements have been made for 12noon in Crossbars.....
What an absolute mess once again with little if any thought for the faithful.
Just to sell more beer.
All that said sorry to hear about your friend, did you try contacting the club to explain the situation and see if a place could be booked ?2 -

Suffice to say your fellow Lifer enjoyed a very special day thanks to the efforts of those who SUPPORT one another .....maybe something you aren't familiar with.
Without doubt, you ARE Lyle Taylor Mk 2 ....

Arrived 12ish and almost every table in Bartrams was still free, fan zone was very busy and massive queues for Crossbars when we walked round 1.30 ish. Great to see The Valley so full, despite the circumstances.0

Glad your friend had a good time, sincerely.Whilst your comments could be upheld the fact is Jean’s husband has health issues and I believe some others in her regular group are not the fittest as well.Add into the mix that Jean was laying on a special day for Malcolm (silly Billy) I can fully understand her anxiety about securing a table because all those mentioned could not have stood for the duration
Coming from a certain age and generation the only snowflakes that Jean, her party and myself are familiar with are the ones that fall in winter.
I suggest you take a look on the cancer thread and familiarize yourself with Malcom’s story before making any further muggy comments.15 -
The Chicken George in the fans area is very good according to my brother.2

Ah, thanks for that support, eaststandmike.
However, the Lifer we helped on Saturday WAS sillybilly but his name is Jim ...Think you're confusing the name as Malcolm is RedMidland who we'd absolutely love to have with us once he's well enough....and if we can nab a table
Jim had his leg amputated back in 2021 and has been fighting his own battle since then, albeit not connected to the evil disease we all fear. He's doing fantastically and although a tiring weekend took place, think he thoroughly enjoyed seeing all his pals again.
Onwards & upwards indeed !

Absolute snowflake behaviour...............sounds pretty muggy to me.
I didn't leap in with two feet yesterday because I was in a dark place & I'd have probably got the thread closed.
You should have just stuck to your 2nd paragraph in your original reply & left it at that. There was absolutely zero need for your first paragraph.
I'll say no more.
Delighted Sillybilly had a great time. Just gutted I couldn't make it.3 -
