Can understand Hartlepools' frustration, we'd be the same if a loan was just starting to work and they were recalled but nothing to stop him or other young players going there later in the season.

I was indeed present.  Hartlepool fans concensus was he was starting to come good after the previous manager got the Spanish Archer treatment (rightfully so)

I suppose a lot depends on Tennai Watson's injury as to whether he returns to the north

Maybe we can get Lennie back at the Valley

If not, what manner of pisstaking fuckwit leaves him out of the squad entirely when we have no fit right backs?

He's still a better right back than Small.

I always enjoy listening to Lennie. The man talks total sense - and is even prepared to provide a bit of injury news, rather than the Jones’ mantra of “we’re in a better position than we were last week”.

As to Nathan Asiimwe, I don’t understand why Jones isn’t prepared to give him a go at right wing back instead of playing Tyreece Campbell out of position. In addition, why bring him back from Hartlepool if he’s got no intention of including the lad in the 18 ? 

Lennie did say the position with Asiimwe “was ongoing”, so maybe he’ll be going back up north after the Christmas programme.

I was thinking about that earlier, I wonder if Jones has been pushed by the board to get the team playing more football and being more attacking. We ended the game with three strikers, started Godden behind the front two (Southend away I think?). TC and Small as WBs is another example, Asiimwe is decent going forward but TC will always offer more being natural winger

Doesn’t sound like he’s currently in NJs plans. Talks about three right backs with Zach Mitchell (who’s more of a CB) being one of them.

Asiimwe has always looked decent on the ball, and physically has the pace and strength to play at first team level, I expect it’s concerns over his defending.

Believe Hartlepool played him on the right wing at times, so they perhaps weren’t convinced either.

“Needs a loan” is said a lot and it’s not always right for the individual (Dixon being new to English football for example) but he’s got a lot of potential and is someone who could really benefit from a good loan spell, hopefully the plan is for him to go out for the second half of the season in January. I don’t think u21 football will push him to that next level.

Josh hasn't looked too out of place for the most part either... Yes he's been a bit green at times, and it was unbelievably stupid from our Defence to have him marking Sweeney against Burton (especially when they went looking for a penalty), but that wasnt his fault.

Seems baffling that we decided to recall Asiimwe at all.

I don't think we did, I think his loan expired and we decided not to extend it. That could be that NJ wanted to see if he was ready or that we weren't happy that Hartlepool were reportedly playing him higher up the pitch rather than RB. Defensively he has so much to learn and he won't be able to if he isn't actually playing RB/RWB

Defensively he's not that bad anyway, especially when playing at wing back. And definitely better defensively than T Campbell.

It's frankly baffling that he's not even considered an option by Jones.
