Nathan Asiimwe (new contract & season loan to Wimbledon p11)

Asiimwe and Anderson have an almost telepathic understanding and hopefully it will improve the latter's distribution.4

We ought to recall Nathan, he is our player and he is needed.3

Assessment of Nathan after the Altrincham game
Nathan Asiimwe: 8
His best performance in a Pools shirt. Started the game like a freight train and Altrincham found it hard to contend with his powerful and determined forward runs. Played an important role in Nathan Sheron's goal, getting Pools up the pitch before showing the presence of mind to pass the ball back to Dan Dodds in space. Looked like he was starting to tire in the second half before he found a second wind from somewhere and ran Altrincham ragged for a quarter of an hour. Can lack a bit of quality in the final third but it feels like that will come in time while his fearlessness, willingness to take on his man as well as his speed and strength should stand him in good stead throughout his career.

Sensible decision.
Can understand Hartlepools' frustration, we'd be the same if a loan was just starting to work and they were recalled but nothing to stop him or other young players going there later in the season.
I heard a rumour that Pools London scout maybe at the Valley tonight, isn't that right @Swisdom ?0 -
The reason he was loaned to non league was he can be recalled if injuries become an issue. It is one of the issues the loaning club has in this sort of deal. Injuries have become an issue.3

I suppose a lot depends on Tennai Watson's injury as to whether he returns to the north3 -
Maybe we can get Lennie back at the Valley6

Is Nathan injured?
If not, what manner of pisstaking fuckwit leaves him out of the squad entirely when we have no fit right backs?

He's still a better right back than Small.

Lennie Lawrence very keen on getting Nathan back on loan at Hartlepool according to his after match press conference after the goalless draw at Southend this afternoon.

As to Nathan Asiimwe, I don’t understand why Jones isn’t prepared to give him a go at right wing back instead of playing Tyreece Campbell out of position. In addition, why bring him back from Hartlepool if he’s got no intention of including the lad in the 18 ?Lennie did say the position with Asiimwe “was ongoing”, so maybe he’ll be going back up north after the Christmas programme.5 -

Doesn’t sound like he’s currently in NJs plans. Talks about three right backs with Zach Mitchell (who’s more of a CB) being one of them.
Asiimwe has always looked decent on the ball, and physically has the pace and strength to play at first team level, I expect it’s concerns over his defending.
Believe Hartlepool played him on the right wing at times, so they perhaps weren’t convinced either.
“Needs a loan” is said a lot and it’s not always right for the individual (Dixon being new to English football for example) but he’s got a lot of potential and is someone who could really benefit from a good loan spell, hopefully the plan is for him to go out for the second half of the season in January. I don’t think u21 football will push him to that next level.
https://www.charltonafc.com/news/jones-we-have-be-best-version-us“Kayne is a lot closer than he was before,” said Jones. “We have had some good news, and he's out there running. That's a good thing, he's not as far away as people may think. It's a frustrating one as he was in such good form for us and was a big part of what we did. He provided us that balance on the right-hand side.
“That's what we've lacked really; we've played Tyreece Campbell out there and have tried to find a solution down that side. Ironically, the three people that can play out there have all been injured with Tennai [Watson], Kayne and Zach [Mitchell], that's been frustrating. He's in a good place, mentally as well. We've got good people here and it's a great environment. Hopefully he's back soon.”

The fact that Laqeretabua has jumped ahead in the queue is almost damning for Asiimwe
Josh hasn't looked too out of place for the most part either... Yes he's been a bit green at times, and it was unbelievably stupid from our Defence to have him marking Sweeney against Burton (especially when they went looking for a penalty), but that wasnt his fault.
Seems baffling that we decided to recall Asiimwe at all.5 -

I really like the look of Asiimwe but he definitely does need a loan. As above, I reckon he will be suited to a position higher up the pitch. His size and physicality means i think he has a decent ceiling/chance.1

It's frankly baffling that he's not even considered an option by Jones.3
