Tickets for Saturday’s first round Emirates FA Cup tie against Southend United are back on priority sale after the club's initial allocation sold out.

The club was given an initial allocation of 815 tickets and have now received an additional 1,080 tickets which went back on sale at 2pm today (Wednesday, October 30th).

So the secondary allocation is 130%+ the size of the initial allocation ?!

Can someone with knowledge of the area be a decision maker for me - coming from Liverpool St on the train and want a couple of pints before the match, will arrive a couple of hours before kick off. What’s the best station to get off at and what’s the best pub(s) to have a drink in?

Maybe you won't need to use the home stands now.

Maybe you won't need to either

    Seems a strange allocation this.

Alright, initially it was the usual away capacity, makes sense.  They have obviously thought, hold on! And given up some of the home section after seeing a money making opportunity, i will not poo poo that at all. Whatever next, half and half scarves and some banal "Welcome to Sarfend" promo?

You can either go through to Southend Victoria and find a pub in town with about a 20 minute walk to the ground or the last couple of times I've been I've got off at prittlewell station and gone to the railway tavern 5 minutes from the station and about 15/20 from the ground.

Everyone confused about the allocation needs to read this

    https://www.southendunited.co.uk/news/2024/october/30/facilities-update/

"Our original goal was to secure certification to reopen the NWQ and north-west yellow seats for our Boxing Day fixture, which would add an extra 1,400 seats for home supporters. However, drawing Charlton Athletic in the Emirates FA Cup First Round provided an opportunity to expedite the works, enabling us to increase our away capacity for this match and generate additional revenue by raising the usual away allocation of 815 in the north-east blue seats section.

Today, we received sign-off on the works from the Southend Council and Essex Police, allowing us to provide Charlton with an additional 1,100 tickets.

Going forward, we’ll return the NWQ and NW (yellow seats) sections to home fans, with full details coming soon. Supporters can look forward to refurbished toilets, refreshed facilities, a new bar, and an enhanced food selection provided by Eat Street.

We recognise that other areas of the stadium also need upgrades, and we are committed to continually improving all stands.

The completed works will increase our stadium capacity from 8,500 to nearly 10,000; a significant boost for the Club."

Thanks. I’ll go down to the Valley today to get my ticket. Living in the States does has its problems with getting tickets when it’s a tight allocation. Mind you, not been much of an issue for a while now! Thought I’d missed out on this one though so I’m a happy camper.

Crazy to think Southend new capacity will be just over a thousand short of Bournemouth ground.

yes will be down to the FA. Believe they sell rights in a more regionalised way than others. It’s why we’ve had games at weird times in recent years despite not being on UK TV

Last time I went just went to Southend Central and went to some pubs in the town. About 20 minute walk. Think the pubs nr the ground home only. Got a bit fiiesty when walked past them after the game last time.

The Last Post is a large Wetherspoons right opposite Southend Central Station, and a pub which shows sports is called The Alex just round the corner.  About a 20/25 min walk to the ground.

    Cheers chaps!
  • Railway is the best (and only) option near the ground, never had any issues in there

Southend town centre has plenty of options usual chains Spoons, Slug etc

Or if coming on the Liv St line early then Rochford is a good option 2 stops before the ground loads of more traditional pubs
  • Fenchurch Street line, you can always get off at Westcliff. There are numerous pubs on Hamlet Court Road, including The Hamlet Court, The Craftsman and Westcliff Drinks Company. All 15/20 mins from ground.

That would be my choice if you wanted a hassle free drink before.

If I order tickets on line can I collect from Southend ground on the day? I live in Norwich so can't rely on getting by post now and can't get to the valley

We probably have one fixture a season (if that) where the loyalty points system needs to get used at all. It's the fairest it can be IMO, and I have Callum right that if VG stopped giving you priority people would stop paying for membership - I know I would.

I would also bet that anyone who wants a ticket for this Saturday will be able to get one.
Probably be closer to 5 this season, Crawley, Orient, Stockport & Wrexham.

I think people are missing my point. It’s not the ST & VG it’s just the VG part. My mate who goes 1 or 2 games per season will want an Orient/Wrexham away ticket this season. For effectively £60 VG payment he will be guaranteed one. Compared to myself who is currently on 580 points and could be below the threshold come March/April.
I get what youre saying, but none of those games will sell out before they get to the 500 point mark.

The only games regular away travellers will ever miss out on are freak matches like CVPM last season, and Valley Gold made no difference in that instance anyway.

Tbf, I don't think it's poor when we only got additional tickets so late in the week. If we'd had the full allocation on sale for a sensible amount of time we probably would have sold out quite easily.
  • if brum can sell out over 3k for shrewsbury away midweek in the EFL trophy we have to be looking at close to selling this out imo
yes limited notice but it's a good day out for an away match
all those going will have fun

we will win and Bonne wont score and you can quote me on that

If them figures are true, that is a bad support only thing I can think of is we must have a lot of fans in home areas
