Definitely put us on the back foot but… our defending was shocking all game.This time last season I was seriously worried about going down. Today I wasn’t until I got to the ground and the game kicked off. Once again we are on a tipping point

Just another Saturday. First half was mostly awful saved by moment of magic from Leaburn. Second half we started brightly but faded a little which was unsurprising as we were down to ten men (thanks Doch) but we created chances to draw and even win, but spurned them, and with a last second free kick, created one of the most pathetic routines ever.
There is no creativity in the middle, and the rest is pretty meh. Burton will be a gas!2 -

Sometimes in life, you just have to put your hands up and say you are/were wrong, in this instance, I was wrong about Jones.
I had 100% confidence it was a good match. I never expected us to play liquid football, but I thought we would defend well, attack in groups, and have chances to score, especially from crosses and set pieces. I am seeing none of this, and tbh, we look mentally fragile. I don't know how it looked at the game, but from the box, the teams body language, and work rates were awful. They all look unfit, which is odd because Jones swore we would have a fit team, who play with a lot of intensity that we could be proud of.
If we lose to Burton on Tuesday night, I don't think anyone could complain too much about him getting sacked, if he follows that up with a loss away to a team in the league below, it's time to go.
Sorry Jones, I like you, but I love Charlton, and you're truly making me hate watching my team.

In the pre match Nathan Jones insisted that once it all comes together, which he insisted had happened in spells, we would all be blown away.
The injury situation is dire, but the continual promise of jam tomorrow is now not working.
For the most part the individual players are doing their best, and for the most part they are decent enough, but for the most part they are not an actual team. Teamwork is supposed to add more to the sum of the parts, our teamwork diminishes the sum of our parts, that is down to the manager.
After a couple of long breaks without games, given the injuries, there is still time to create a coherent team with what is left and available. Yesterday I have little to complain about with regard to the individual showing of each player, but they all seemed to be in a personal bubble rather than part of a well structured group.10 -

Funny, not you personally Seth, but just adding to your post, I rather like Jones and the way he acts on the touchline, the passion and intensity he shows does sometimes boil over, and if you have a silly ref, like we have had in the last couple of games, then he leaves himself open to bookings...seth plum said:P.S.

A good 15-16 hour round away day, that could have ended up being a complete disaster had we not made a quick decision to get a £50 Uber to Leeds on the way home to get the train.Biblical rain made it a very poor game of football, but the teams involved were both lacking quality.
Its a pretty stark indictment on whatever is being trained into these players tactically when we actually looked better with 10 men and having to throw away the plan that we actually set up with going into the game (whatever that was).7 -
I think he really wanted Berry but the rest i agree with and dont think much extra money has been put in for transfers by the owners whatever CM saysRedmidland said:

Only caught the second half as away, but thought that second half illustrated how poor both we and Huddersfield are atm. I do not expect them to be in the shake up and if we do not resolve the imbalances and shortcomings within our squad early January, we are are destined for another season in this sh*t hole of a league.
Will NJ recognise our lack of creativity, that one or two of his past players are not going to make a difference at this level even if they served him well in the past and how quickly will a few of our injured players return? Getting those questions right and with a bit more luck on the injury front should help us improve.As others have said, the loss for a few weeks now of Lloyd, Kayne and I think the different dimension of Chuks off the bench have made us very mediocre at best for now.I would leave Jones as-is but this window is a bigger one than I had expected for the reasons above and if results nor performances improve, the rest decides for itself.0 -

I agree, but I don't see why it has to be a binary choice. I'd prefer some middle line where we have a manager that shows an appropriate amount of interest and passion without costing the club money and becoming a distraction. That said, with some of the dreadful football dished up this season we do sometimes need a distraction.eastterrace6168 said:

An enjoyable day out spoiled by the football and having to spend £70 on an Uber to York as the trains were cancelled
The hoofball is appalling, we looked better with 10 as playing Docherty is like playing with 10 and we should have probably nicked a point with the headers but we didn’t

Watching the match on CTV I felt sorry for Leaburn, he has skill, he never gives up and he is playing with a load of dross. I think his contract is up at the end of the season and who could blame him if he went elsewhere.6
