If anyone wants to bang on just about covid, pretty sure there’s a thread about it already on here.

Phidippides did die after running from Marathon to Athens after running about 40km in 490 BC to announce the victory of the Greeks over the Persians. Unfortunately after giving interviews to all the media like the Athens sun and the Daily Acropolis, Phidippides dropped down dead* from dehydration.
They were no water stations on the route sadly in those ancient days.
*What too soon !

The problem is we can find facts that suit our positions online and when you have a position you get pointed to more facts that line up with yours. We can't know everything so we have to make judgements. I think these are harder to make nowadays and you always have to be willing to alter them.
I have chosen to take every vaccine available to me for two reasons. Firstly it is where my judgement points me and secondly I see/saw it as my duty as a citizen. I have always thought there was a risk to taking them but there was a risk to not taking them. The question has to be which is the right choice. If somebody posts a lot of links to facts, I am suspicious of it one way or the other if I can find as many or more links to opposing facts. Whilst it is harder to make judgements, you really have to try to navigate the minefield of the internet as best you can.
What was a fact is a lot of people died from Covid. Have more died or are likely to die from the vaccines? My judgement, right or wrong, says no whilst accepting some people will have died from a reaction to a vaccine. If I was asked what the biggest positive development was in our fight against Covid, The Vaccines or Omicron, I would say Omicron simply because a far more contagious but less deadly strain was what was needed. But I am applying my own logic to this and have to accept I might be wrong.0 -

Given a choice between peer reviewed scientific studies and random anecdotal 'evidence' from social media it does seem society is increasingly leaning towards the latter. Science is a bit hard to understand and debate.11
-
Unfortunately 'following the science' throws up some inconvenient truths, that many wish to ignore.2
-
I prefer Science to Faith but even science was led by Political expediency during the recent Global health issue. A big subject not for this thread.
Back on Track.
Eduardo Bove is doing very well after falling unconscious in the 16th minute of the Fiontina v Inter match at the weekend.
More tests will be needed to be certain of the cause of Bove's passing out after tying up his laces and then crashing down unconscious so early in the match.

"The yellow car phenomenon is the idea that focusing on something can lead to seeing more of it.
For example, if you focus on yellow cars, you might see more of them than usual. The yellow car phenomenon is rooted in neuroscience and the reticular activating system (RAS), which filters information from your senses and brings relevant information to your conscious mind. The Baader–Meinhof phenomenon, also known as the frequency illusion or recency illusion, is a similar cognitive bias that causes people to believe that something happens more frequently than it actually does.

So powerful and capable yet still so susceptible to simple biases.
One of the best books I ever read was Predictably Irrational by Dan Ariely. Would highly recommend for folks interested in that area of behavioural psychology.2 -

Of course these types of videos will be undermined and because they're from twitter, they're instantly nonsense to some people.
All in all, it's my biggest regret in my life taking that vaccine, and for a few people close to me who have had severe health complications (some of which never actually being diagnosed with covid or having a positive test.)
Pre-vaccination, 30 years free of any medial complications and biggest health scare was a root canal.
Post-vaccination, hospitalised with pneumonia, diagnosed with all kinds of medication and injections, can't physically move how I could previously because of breathing complications (confirmed by a doctor my health complications are directly linked), and then a lot more personal stuff. I've been advised not to train as hard as I previously have done. Usually the opposite advise you give a fat bloke who needs to drop a few stones because they're ''still trying to understand the long term implications of covid". Amazing how they authorised a vaccine for a disease they don't know the full long term effects for, yet.
I accept I'll be called a whack job etc, but this is my own personal experience, and my instinct prevented me being put into an induced coma where a medial professional overlooked my current health issues.
You are correct, these vaccines were rushed to market out of necessity, without having first undergone the usual many years of testing, in double blind, placebo controlled trials.
I find it astounding that most people are still so trusting of big pharma, Governments, politicians and the media, when it has now become so clear that we, the people, were lied to, so many times, and not just in relation to COVID.
First they told us that vaccination would prevent contraction and illness (a lie), then they told us that the vaccines would prevent the spread (another lie), they told us they were safe, yet the Astra Zenica vaccine (the one that I had) has since been withdrawn due to health concerns, so that too was a lie!
They told us that locking down young kids was necessary, when we now know that the risk to them was actually miniscule.
But the phycological damage caused to them and the loss of their education has had a terrible impact on our kids and their futures.
I too had a terrible reaction, immediately following the jab and felt close to passing out.
There's no way I'd subject myself to another.
I believe that in the coming months and years we will be shocked by what we are going to learn about the whole COVID issue.
I'll get hammered for speaking out, by the usual suspects, so I'm not going to get any further involved in this discussion.
I just felt the need to lend a little support to your views

There are many children whose lives have been changed because of the effects of the virus. I could post links to so many studies however I won't bother as it is sure to attract criticism.
I suggest that you try to watch some of the videos of the last module of the Covid Inquiry, particularly that of Professor Kevin Fong, if you think that locking down wasn't necessary.
He is one of the most respected doctors in his many roles.

There’s been links provided showing there’s been no increase in cases, whether that’s vaccine issues, Covid issues, diet issues, whatever…..
It’s literally because of increase in coverage across more sporting events. Why’s that so hard to understand 🤣1 -

The evidence that a Covid infection can cause heart attacks, strokes and much more has been known about for years now. I had chest pains last year and was referred to a cardiac clinic, fortunately all was well, however the very first question I was asked was 'have you had Covid?' I also joined the Our Future Health programme and one of the questions was have you ever had Covid', not have you ever had flu.
With regard to athletes it wasn't long ago that Noah Lyles had to be put in a wheelchair, after he ran the 200m in the Olympics, whilst suffering from Covid. Adam Peaty said that he had suffered the worst week of his life when he competed with Covid at the sane Olympics.

Obviously, this is entirely anecdotal - but the single thing all riders have had in common is elevated heat rates arlfter a bout of it. Of itself, that isn't surprising - heart rates are always elevated after an illness, after all, your body has spent 7-10 days fighting it - but in my sample of 20-30 riders over four years - it definitely takes longer than a regular illness to get it back to 'normal' range. It only stands to reason that athletes at the peak of their sport are more likely to be at an elevated risk of cardiac events. Bike riders in particular are at a high risk, due to the period of time spent on the bike compared to other sports - and indeed there have been a few riders who have had to retire or experienced serious cardiac incidents either on the bike or recovering from races.
It'll be an interesting area of research for years to come - and hopefully that research will help guide treatment and diagnosis for athletes and non-athletes alike.3 -

It is my view that the vaccination has a lottery of negative side effects and I am unfortunately in the category of getting one. No different to other medication where there are negative side effects.
I believe what we are seeing in football is a direct result of covid/long covid and/or being vaccinated.

The link you posted to the British Heart Foundation is one that have in the past referred to and it does state the following:
Research shows that Covid-19 itself is much more likely to cause myocarditis than the vaccine.
People who are vaccinated against Covid-19 also have a much lower risk of getting other serious heart complications caused by the virus, including heart attack and stroke.
That is why the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) says the benefits of having the Covid-19 vaccine far outweigh the risks of not getting it for most people.
We all need to make sure that we know what to do if someone has a cardiac arrest. Everyone should learn how the do CPR as it can make the difference between surviving and dying. Acting quickly is so important.

People who are vaccinated against Covid-19 also have a much lower risk of getting other serious heart complications caused by the virus, including heart attack and stroke.”
Therefore, athletes that have had the vaccine are less likely to get myocarditis than athletes that haven’t, inless they never get the infection. If you were a gambling athlete, you would have been better having the vaccine than not.1
