  • I could not give a s*** who they bring in whilst the three clowns are still here, it'll make not a jot of difference.
I would drink a pint of Carling in a Wetherspoons on a Monday morning if it got rid of Scott

    16/1.....

...I know, it ain't funny anymore, but baring Sir Chris, we just ain't been the same since he left, we are in serious shite at the moment, and need a real leader at the helm, I know Curbs is a pipe dream, but hopefully someone out there has what we need...🤦‍♂️

Doesn't Matter who we pick, as long as Andy Scott is at the club and involved in transfers, we're doomed to failure
I'm not sure.  Scott gets a lot of stick but I'm sure he just does the negotiating, contracts, etc - and has to sign off on transfers but the main responsibility for selecting players to sign falls on Jones - think it was part of his conditions accepting the job that he has main call on positions, players and club culture (that's worked well...).
  • Jacko and if he turns us down, then Powell
Do you really think either of those two would work under our SMT, not a chance

First choice Gary rowett or Steven Schumacher. Long shot mark robins .
At this point, Michael Schumacher would probably be an improvement.
Greatest to ever do it so probably would know about football management.
I don’t think he knows much of anything these days in fairness.
  • Yes the squad isn't as good as it should be, BUT any half decent coach would be able to get them to play better than the lowest common denominator tactics Jones has employed in recent weeks.

A loaf of Warburton's bread couldn't do any worse than where we are right now.

I'd want someone that's worked with these players before so should know how to get the best out of them, and someone that's previously won promotion out of this orrible league.

    Oh, hang on...

Not any of the same old names. I would like us to look in Europe or USA or Australasia. The lack of UK managers in the Premiership should give us a clue about what to do.

I don't think it matters, Jones / Adkins we don't get the Luton / Southampton versions. I would probably take a punt on someone inexperienced next time around. Someone who is highly regarded as a coach but not been a manager yet

I'm always confused about so many people wanting Johnnie Jackson as manager. He is one of my all time favourite players for Charlton and I adore him, but he wasn't a successful manager for us. We can sit here and talk about the players and the backing he had offsetting his terrible tactics but that's also exactly what we're saying about Jones. The situation isn't going to be any different so why would we go back in for a manager who has already shown he'll fail under these sorts of circumstances when we need someone to transcend that? You can say he might have improved since then but he's also in his third year of trying to get out of League Two so I'm not seeing a huge amount of evidence that he's going to take us up to the Championship. He knows the place (like Jones did) and I love seeing him associated with the club but it's a weird one to want. At least Powell won this league with us. He might succeed but going in for a manager who failed in L1 and is currently yet to achieve as much as Ben Garner in L2 would be an apocalyptic choice on here if it wasn't our old mate.

were languishing in league 1 with a 40% full stadium and a fan base that quite rightly expects out of this league, its a tough gig

Don’t think he’d come. Doing well at a well-run club and will probably end up with championship interest at some point. Why swap that for an unstable mess that ruins managerial careers

I would have hoped so. Succession planning. A structure in place where next steps are always under consideration. The right people to make sure there's a management structure and that recruitment and succession planning is low risk. Too much to ask?

In reality, most club managers and SMT's do not have any history or connection with the clubs they are at.
In my humble opinion, we need Charlton people at the helm of the SMT, and a manager who has a history with us as a player and cares, yes, all managers are employees, and are mercenary by default, but we have had so many mediocre and below average managers for so long, I feel we need a real Charlton person to come in and steady the ship to at least make us competitive again before what we could consider to be an upgrade to be even slightly interested in the role. As it stands we are in danger of falling further down the pyramid, not only in terms of on the pitch, but in attractiveness to a manager, yes we have a great stadium for this level, yes we have a better history than most at this level, but it will all mean nothing when playing v Fleetwood or Barrow in L2 in front of 5-6000 fans.

Said this before last night but Robbie Elliot is an up and coming manager.

What will probably happen is Andy Scott comes out of retirement.
He is but he’s only recently started a new job
They said that about Cambridges Neil Harris, but that did not  stop him becoming Millwalls Neil Harris.
  • Jones has clearly lost the fans
    He has to go.
I do not think the type of football we play will improve either.
