Who would you want IF Jones does go..?

We are kidding ourselves that we can attract anyone half decent. The SMT are a laughing stock in the footballing community. We will only attract desperate managers like Appleton or Madmen like Jones (who has a track record of unwise managerial moves). Until we get rid of Methven, Scott and Rodwell, expect another dud like Appleton and expect us to be in the bottom half of League One. Real change starts at the top and these clowns are not up to it, they’ve proven that already.

Id like us to go for Jason Euell with maybe a old head to guide him

Jones ain't going anywhere, at the very least till then end of the season, and then doubtful, he has the SMT in the palm of his hand I tell ya...🙄

I’d like to know what the biggest problem is : lack of money, poor SMT and therefore awful recruitment , poor manager .  I suspect all of them in reality .  I don’t think anyone could take this squad near the top of the league , as much as I can’t stand Jones 

Lack of money? We’re spending money, relatively lots of it for this division. We’re spending it very, very badly which is the issue. 

Part of the problem is that the real ownership and money is so far removed from the day to day activities of the club. They’ve left it in the hands of our SMT who have in the relatively short time they’ve been in charge fucked it up royally. The arrival of Gavin Carter is a step in the right direction and it is imho to him that we need to direct not anger but our concerns. He must be made fully aware of the groundswell of opinion and get that message back to the USA. I’m not at all pissed off with the yanks. I think they’ve acted honourably and with good intent. The mistake they’ve made is to leave the project in the hands of people who demonstrably are not up to it.

Suspect the CBT money paid for REG and Gillesphey, Coventry was probably free/not.much of a fee but with a big sell on.

Selling May paid for Godden and Ahadme.

So basically they've paid a couple of hundred grand each for Edwards and Mitchell and that's about it.

Half of Methven's shtick is look at how clever I'll be spending less and getting more for it.

Relative to say Mansfield  of course we are, but relative to what we should probably be spending if we want promotion?  I don't think so personally.

None of those players are playing for free. At this level (unless you’re Birmingham) transfer fees are a relatively small part of the outlay. Our salary bill is amongst the highest in the division, so money is being spent, as I said a lot of it for League One, but we’re spending it badly.

Again I'm not sure we are - obviously wages aren't advertised everywhere, but there's a few sites with decent guesses on and we're not that near the top.

I actually agree transfer fees aren't important really - wages are more important and with decent planning and good wages there are plenty of good free transfers available most summers.

They just aren't sticking the money required in (IMHO) and aren't competent enough for the decent planning.

I’m not sure what you mean, the wage bill is included in the annual accounts that the club have to publish. In the last financial year reported (which takes us to the end of June 2023) wages were something like £9M-£10M. This figure includes non-playing staff, but the squad will be the vast, vast majority of the total and that will be far higher than the majority of other clubs in this division. 

Would be interesting to know that split, wouldn't it?

Rufus would be more trustworthy than Jones right now. 

Not sure 🤔 who would take over in the current set up. Maybe Jason Pierce. Hospital pass of a job for anyone picking it up.
