So. Just found his level? Or de-Charltonised??
Elliot Lee for instance dropped down and is now back in this league, above us, has also picked up more man of the match awards and goals than all of our midfielders combined.
He was absolutely naff for us, but obviously something clicks for him there. It doesn't always work that way, cause Charlie Kirk is the opposite example of Lee, but I do believe some players just move to us at the wrong time and Gilbey might have been one of them. Looking like there is a chance we

I'd luv it if NJ turned it around. Luv it, but I've seen our last three games on Sky, from start to finish.
I have been heavily criticized by others on here for stating the following very early in the season however when you look closely……….
“We will finish 7th to 12th”
“Ahadme is a hopeless player”
”Wrexham will finish above us”
”Jones could be gone by Christmas”There is absolutely zero pleasure in being “proved right”. I would LOVE to be shown up as a fool who knows nothing and see us romp to promotion. I was ecstatic when Jones changed the formation and we produced that wonderful performance against Birmingham neither of which I had thought would happen.
However; I find it very bizarre when season after season, window after window, people start lauding signings who they had never heard of prior to then joining and praising our board for clever recruitment and savvy business - based on a look at their Wikipedia page or a handful of other clubs fan’s tweets, instead of watching them play and commenting on what they actually see.I watched the Pompey friendly, and by the end of the Wigan game it was pretty clear and by the end of the Orient game absolutely clear that Ahadme and Campbell were clearly going to be a substantial downgrade on any strike force containing Alfie May, who almost instantly last pre season you could see was a great footballer.
Yet for weeks and months and even very recently there were still people intimating the contrary despite the clear evidence before their eyes.Luke Berry played 17 games in the Prem last season don’t ya know!
I may be a saddo but I watch A LOT of football and have seen plenty of games including the likes of Docherty, Ahadme for example.
I’ve not previously seen either of those two perform as poorly as they have in a Charlton shirt so far. Docherty looks lost being asked to do a job he’s not suited to & Ahadme is there to nod in crosses that our midfielders aren’t capable of swinging in.You telling me Charlton fans have been hunting out Burton Albion and Cambridge United live streams? I know things have been bad for us but sweet lord Callum. If you have been doing this then I’m inclined to agree with your self assessment!0 -

In the last 3 windows, 3 different managers have gone out and recruited entirely different profiles of player.
I don't know if Jones is the right answer any more, but I honestly believe that the constant changing of manager and recruitment strategy is doing more damage than any amount of hoof-ball tactics.
Jackson, Adkins, Garner, Holden, Appleton were also "not the right ones" to commit to. The experienced managers like Adkins were 'past it' or 'living off former glories', the young ones like Garner were 'naive' or 'unproven at the level'. Appleton didn't care enough, Jones can't control his emotions. They're either too stubborn to change their tactics, or they switch things up and get accused of not knowing their best XI.
There always seems to be a reason why it won't work, and always this implicit belief that a new manager with different strengths (and weaknesses) will bring the best out of this club. But when it comes to speculating on who that manager should be, there is zero alignment across the fanbase on what we all want.
I sometimes wonder if the reason why we only seem to do well with club legends in charge is because they're the only people with enough credit in the bank to avoid getting sacked when the team goes through its inevitable troughs in performance.3 -

You believe we got promoted because Charlton are unique and those managers "got the club"?
Nothing to do with those managers having quality players no?1 -

Nothing to do with those managers having quality players no?All 3 of those managers operated under very difficult circumstances of varying degrees and for varying reasons but no, they weren’t blessed with loads of quality players just like that. Powell a bit, but not when he arrived, and he was careful when he selected the players they signed that he followed the Curbs mould of personality, “hungry / angry”, team ethic, desire to succeed for Charlton and Charlton being seen as a huge opportunity for all of them.A lot of why they succeeded, and actually I’m pretty sure all 3 would say this (certainly curbs and Powell) was underpinned by the unity with the fans and the people in the club around them, and the support this gave them to drive us forward.Contrast that with a Welsh geezer who clearly doesn’t respect or like our fans, things he’s bigger than the club and has signed various players cast off from Luton and sold the only
player we had who was literally from the area, was practically a Charlton fan and felt like one of us grafting for the club on the pitch which clearly Jones had no concept of or respect for.3 -

Sorry but this kind of thing just sounds superstitious. The unity with the fans was most probably created because we were playing attractive football with decent players. The opposite of what we have now.

Barely got a murmur out of the covered end when the drummer tried to get 'Nathan Jones' red army' going. Even had 2 groups have a barmy near me over one of them singing it. He's lost the vast majority of the fanbase, and it would take a miracle to get people back on side.

He’s not getting sacked, we can’t continue going through managers every 10 months1

The reason is still with us.1 -
Leaburn was a bit better today in terms of giving defenders something to do. He should have scored at least one and should have won a penalty. People are worried he will go in January. I can't see anybody being interested unless he sorts his game out. We do know his potential and a step in the right direction is positive. But his career is not a guaranteed rise to the top anymore.0

I understand he can't dwell on the negativity as he has to think about confidence within the squad but he could avoid saying things like we are the best in the league at this etc... It is treating us like idiots. I would probably say something like we are getting there. I know it doesn't look like it sometimes but we have to take small steps in certain areas to get where we want to be. Complete bollocks I know but not as much bollocks as what he is coming out with every week.
I can see we are a bit better defensively but we are terrible offensively and that is not just the strikers to blame. Every Charlton fan can see it too. It isn't because I am a football genius it is because it is obvious. If I was running the club I would want to find out what his plans to put it right are. As a fan it is probably best not listening to his patronising bullshit! If you believe a word of it you need your bumps felt!1 -

I have been veering from he should be sacked to he should be given more time. At the moment it is more time. There are two reasons for this, not entirely positive. Firstly, I don't trust the SMT to make a decent appointment so what is the F*ng point. Secondly, I have reminded myself not to listen to his inarticulate press conferences, which wind me up they are so full of bullshit and just give him a few more games to make things better. Hoping that he is actually trying to do this rather than being satisfied with where the team are and what they are doing now. Rather than hear his words I will continue to critically watch his team and see how that goes in what is left of December.1

I’d have Gilbey and Lee in our team all day long now.0

We could try and get the MK band back together - Fraser, Gilbey and that other flop with the blond balding head who's name I've now forgotten - that's how much of an impact he made.5
