Shocking from spurs really. Couldn't even put one past the saints in the 2nd half.1

Watching this Southampton v Spurs game - I have no affinity to either club, but when Spurs went 4-0 up after about half an hour, I was hoping to see one of those crazy games that end 8-1 or something, but Spurs seemed to back off, with countless potential attacking moves fizzling out for no reason and balls being knocked around the back. The fifth, while a great goal, was a bit out of nothing. Then the second half was similar - Spurs didn’t really bother.
Now, I get it - the game is won, see it out, avoid injuries, rest players, give youth players a run out, all that stuff. But when a team has a foot on their opponent’s neck, I want to see them kill them off. The second half was a borefest. Spurs were so superior over the whole match, but only really pushed in the first half hour. Southampton had no answer to anything that happened all night, so Spurs could easily have got into double figures. That would’ve been amazing.
Missed opportunity imo.1 -

Our season relies on us winning Thursday night. Top 4 is gone already and most of us would rather a cup win anyhow.

Didn't take long for the Saints board to sack Russell Martin.0

Thankfully Southampton vs Tottenham is on (MOTD) before that other game, so I don't have to endure how Brighton (a team that beat Tottenham, Newcastle and City) can't seem to win today.

I can never understand why fans sing "your going to get sacked in the Morning", when on many occasions including at that famous south London comedy club Charlton Athletic, Managers have been sacked shortly after a heavy defeat, before they have left the stadium.
5 points from 48 and Spurs declared at HT after being 5 up. The only surprise was Russell Martin wasn't sacked after 48 minutes of an embarrassing 1st half.
Vincent Kompany wouldn't change his beliefs in the Premier with Burnley and despite being relegated got the Bayern Munich gig.
Russell Martin may get the Millwall job or if his luck's really out the CAFC job in the new year !
The gulf between the Championship and the Premier is getting bigger.

There's ways of being relegated though. Southampton have been embarrassing, whereas Ipswich, like Luton last season, are at least competing and giving themselves a chance.0

Commentators stop calling it simulation, it's called cheating.1 -

Also for security reasons once you have been sacked you get passes revoked and they don't tend to want you on the grounds.

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk has failed a drugs test, the Premier League club has confirmed.
The Blues say they were contacted by the Football Association after an "adverse finding in a routine urine test".
Ukraine international Mudryk denies knowingly using any banned substance and Chelsea say they will work to establish what caused the test result.

Will be interesting to see if they can hold onto Iraola long term or if the next top 4 job or major job in Spain he'll be in contention for. Think the only thing I have with Bournemouth is that they've not really properly replaced Solankes goals , Evanilson came for a big fee but hasn't really produced yet.0

Wait a bit longer and we might be able to replace Nathan with Pep!!0

Christ, been so easy for Aston Villa to get in behind Man City today1

Fantastic second goal from Villa1

Fully deserved too, Martinez has had nothing to do!!2

Pep’s tactics have shaped football for the last 5-10 years. It’s refreshing to see that it looks like someone, and then quickly everyone, finally figured out an effective counter.
He’s going to have to adapt quickly because his old philosophy, with the current group of players, clearly isn’t working as it used to.
If we can move football on from Pep’s low risk strategies, rest defence and all the rest of it, then I would be very very happy indeed.2 -

Very reminiscent of what happened at Southampton when they replaced Adkins with Pochettino. Everyone hated it before they realised they had upgraded from someone doing a decent job to someone far superior able to do an excellent job.6 -
Got to love the fight for the fourth Champions League spot at the moment, with Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Bournemouth all deep in contention for the spot.
Imagine we yet get five Champions League places next season if English clubs do well enough?1 -
