Reads like a free transfer, which seems like poor business.

Another one to throw on the poor scouting scrapheap.
They taken over his contract until the end of the season
  • Disappointed in some regard... Was a transfer from Blackburn that seemed to drag out for sometime, and really hoped that we'd get the version from Lincoln.

Never really worked out for him here, isnt really a Left-Back and isnt good enough to get into the Midfield ahead of others so its an understandable move - At this stage, given his limited minutes for Charlton, I'd be unimpressed at the transfer, and see it as desperation.

Thomas S signed him I think the manager was Holden ?
  • Good luck with your move. Forgot you were still here.

Would have been released in the summer anyway, we've saved 6 months of wages.

Interesting that apparently they tried to sign him before he went to Blackburn:

"Tayo is another player we have tried to sign in the past, he went to Blackburn Rovers instead, which you can understand. He had a fantastic time at Lincoln City."

Anyway, wish him luck (except against us) but I'm pleased it might free up wages.
Not surprising considering the relative proximity of Lincoln and Peterborough.

    This sounds a reasonable assumption.
A largish L1 wage, so why commit for longer than this season and see how he performs.

Expected better given he did so well at Lincoln that he got a Championship move.

In Edwards and Small it's been great to sign genuinely good left footed LB/LWBs.

Sounds like he's only signed a 6 month contract with them.

Even Peterborough didnt really want him.

I can imagine Posh fans wondering why they've bought Charlton's 3rd choice left back.

Unlike much of the dross that leaves us I think Edun could go on to do ok at Posh. He turned out to be a very disappointing signing, especially considering his spell at Lincoln, but he joins a long list of transfer flops in recent seasons.

I bet it wasn’t free, Peterborough probably couldn’t afford his wages so we’ve had to pay up on some of his contract. A player from a higher division we’d been chasing for a while, those type of players always turn out to be disappointing for us.

It actually sounds like the sort of signing we’d make!

Can someone confirm if his contract was up at the end of the season? I thought it might be longer.

I think he could be a good player. A shame it didn't work out. Has pace to burn and a big engine.

They've got a LB out until the end of the season so I assume it's cover, and they expect the other LB to be back next season.

Yes, it was a 2 year contract signed in 2023:

    https://www.charltonafc.com/news/done-deal-tayo-edun-addick

"The versatile 25-year-old, who can also operate in midfield, has signed a two-year contract, with the option of a third year".

The tweet said "undisclosed terms". A nominal fee I'd imagine.
Ronnie will let us all know in time...🙄
When does the Plymouth Herald come out ?

Interesting to note that he was the first signing made after SE7 Partners bought the club....fee ~£200k, paid ~£400k in wages, made little impact on the pitch, and now sold at only 26 years old almost certainly for nothing.

If the new owners wanted an immediate lesson in the perils of football club ownership they certainly got one here....

His debut along the wing left side with CBT I thought this looks good and then that was it he got the Charlton bug.

I'd totally forgotten about him. Never really did anything of note, left back, midfield never really made any impact

Remembered for the sweet ball in for McGrandles to get a last minute equaliser re: Pompey.....

    Farewell Tayo

Looked really promising when he first signed but got injured and could never really force his way back in - looked out of form whenever he got the shirt.
    Good luck to him.

    From the transfer rumours thread:

"Sparkes is "one of the worst players" they've ever had according to a few at work lol. "

So, no great surprise they've looked at other options...

Say what you like, the bloke never hid. Did alright in midfield on the few times I've seen him there this season. He's not anywhere near as good as Edwards and Small, so he'll probably get lots of game time at Peterborough, which will be good for him.

    Good luck, Tayo.

Wasnt up to much but wish him well.
  • For Cambridge away last season I was sat with some Cambridge friends close to the touchline, near our dugout and very close to where our subs were warming up. By the way he was looking and acting it seemed to us TE was commenting and laughing to a couple of the others about NJ and his antics in the technical area. I hope it wasn't what we thought it was and I remember saying at the time how divisive and career limiting it might be if true.
