Signed a 9.5 year contract, he’ll be 34 when it expires. Release clauses have been removed.

Reported to be £500k at week.
That's a £250m contract.

So are we saying there is no chance of him signing for Charlton?9
-
That's madness at every level.

Well on that basis, they must be fairly sure they wont be relegated by the Premier League then lol.1
-
His lack of pressing against Brentford was noted on MOTD.0
-
Must be confident on the 115 charges outcome then if they can spunk £500k per week on 1 player for the next 10 years2
-
I was thinking this as well.JohnBoyUK said:Well on that basis, they must be fairly sure they wont be relegated by the Premier League then lol.
Pep signing a new 2 year deal.
3 new signings in this window, with more rumoured. Surely the first thing these players/agents ask is, what is happening with the case?
Haaland signing a long term deal.
In talks with Rodri on a new deal.
Nothing here points towards City being found guilty.4 -
To remember it may not be accurate AND also we don’t know how much ‘notice’ the club need to give to get out of the contract.0
-
City being confident also doesn’t mean they’ve won. I don’t think relegation was ever really on the cards anyway, a big fine is more likely and so they need to get deals done before0

I think they'll get a fine for the non-cooperation and that will be it.fenaddick said:City being confident also doesn’t mean they’ve won. I don’t think relegation was ever really on the cards anyway, a big fine is more likely and so they need to get deals done before0 -
and that's why he would never get into a Lee Bowyer side.killerandflash said:His lack of pressing against Brentford was noted on MOTD.2 -
I think City must have an inkling of what the verdict is , either it's a fine or they're getting off completely. Otherwise they wouldn't be spending £100m+ in this window and doing all these new contracts if relegation was a distinct possibility.1

Or a long transfer ban so they’re getting their stars tied down beforehand?MarcusH26 said:I think City must have an inkling of what the verdict is , either it's a fine or they're getting off completely. I’m sure the contract will go up year on year too.0

I don't think it's to do with any verdict, i think they're spending 100m+ in this window because their team is in dire need of reinforcements.MarcusH26 said:I think City must have an inkling of what the verdict is , either it's a fine or they're getting off completely. A combination of not replacing Alvarez, Rodri's injury, various other injuries, plus older players finally starting to look their age, has meant they've had to make moves for new younger signings. Pep has admitted he thought they could manage but that in reality the squad refresh should've started last summer.

The real big concern will be KdB…..he’s still producing the goods but how long will he be able to continue at such a superb level…..the truth is he can never be replaced, he is from another planet.1
-
Awesome player wonder whether bore factor may come into it especially if they don't build a team around him.0

100% mate it would have to be index linked, it’s a 10 year contract after all £500k a week won’t be worth much in 10 years 😂ShootersHillGuru said:I’m sure the contract will go up year on year too.1 -

Looking like it's actually 865k a week."REVEALED🔵Erling Haaland's incredible new 10-year contract is up on the £865,000-a-week total package he was previously on - but does not break £1m"
Truly hideous money.

Why can't the Charlton owners show that type of ambition, ffs..6

One of these days one of these mega earning footballers with some intelligence will actually do something interesting with all that money.
So far the most interesting has been to found a club in USA or buy into a non league club in England.
I’m thinking on the lines of political influence or something in social media or AI.0 -
Didn't Mathieu Flamini invest a chunk of his money into biochemicals or something?0
-
Rashford already does this - and he's on nowhere near that amount of money. A Ronaldo or a Haaland could do an incredible amount of good with their money... And who's to say they don't already? They just might not say anything about it.jimmymelrose said:One of these days one of these mega earning footballers with some intelligence will actually do something interesting with all that money.

Would be tremendously interesting if more billionaires invest in AI and political influence. Great. Cool2

You mean like Marcus Rashford MBE and Mathieu Flamini (as others have mentioned) who have helped to provide millions of meals to underprivileged children and finding sustainable alternatives to oil-based products, respectively. Or Didier Drogba who helped build hospitals and medical centres in Ivory Coast through the Didier Drogba Foundation. Or Juan Mata, who founded the Common Goal initiative, where players and coaches donate 1% of their salary to social causes, such as education and grassroots football projects worldwide. Or Cristiano Ronaldo who has funded hospitals, paid for surgery for critically ill children and auctioned off his Golden Boots to fund schools in Gaza. Or Lionel Messi who, through the Leo Messi Foundation, funds education and healthcare initiatives for children, builds classrooms, supports hospitals and provides scholarships in various countries (And donated €1 million to hospitals in Spain and Argentina during the COVID-19 pandemic). Or Mo Salah who funded infrastructure development in his hometown of Nagrig, Egypt, including building schools, a hospital and providing clean drinking water. Or N'Golo Kante who has helped finance schools and projects for underprivileged children in Africa. Or Sadio Mane who built a school, a hospital and funded infrastructure development in his hometown of Bambali, Senegal. Or Raheem Sterling who created the Raheem Sterling Foundation to support disadvantaged youth in education and employment opportunities.jimmymelrose said:One of these days one of these mega earning footballers with some intelligence will actually do something interesting with all that money.

That sort of thing?2
