We shall see if that’s the case tomorrow night
On the plus side though. They can get through at least half a dozen more questions with Paul Ellliott not being announced to attend. Why use a thousand words when 10 will suffice
Show some balls guys and address a live audience in one of the lounges at The Valley. You would get to feel how the fans really think face to face, and questions just put to you with out you knowing the question.
Have some balls next time and do it just like the old owners and directors did.
At least Murray, Alwen,Norris , Ufton and Collins plus Lennie Lawrence the manager had the balls to face the fans.

It wasn't a very good meeting IMHO.
What is needed is question asked, replied, and the opportunity for the questioner to go back. The zoon/you tube meeting completely take that opportunity away
We tried Zoom at Bromley but I wasn't a fan.
It was good to get Graham Tutt from the States on Zoom as it wouldn't have been possible otherwise and we had Chris Powell while he was away on England duty and that was good because it was Powelly but I much prefer the in person Q & As as you can see the body language, hear the room react and follow up on answers.
But it gets harder and harder to have our meetings in the format that we prefer.4 -
I predict smooth talking of foundations, building blocks, working behind the scenes and on going discussions re the Valley.2

So pointed questions are best. For example:
‘have any conversations been held with RD since your last update AND by when do you expect to either have progressed a sale or renegotiated the lease?’
Is the pitch better or worse than the contractors indicated it would be AND are you spending more money on it this summer? What’s happening with the long term search for a new club secretary?
There are many but some more specific points might force some answers (or holes to dig themselves).5 -

These things are a waste of time really. It’s all just an effort at PR. This isn’t knocking the SMT at all. What question can ever be asked and answered that will please everyone ? Football is an emotional subject and we all love our club but we all have different priorities and expectations so no answer to any question can ever be not controversial.0

Yes, we are building a strong relationship with the owner of the ground but by their very nature such talks are commercially sensitive so we can't say too much.. We and the American owners understand that longer tenure is important but there are ten years left so we are not concerned at this point.
Is the pitch better or worse than the contractors indicated it would be AND are you spending more money on it this summer?
We are disappointed with the pitch and have been speaking to the contractors about it. New pitches don't always look their best after one year. This summer we played a pre-season friendly very soon after it was laid and we've then had unusually wet and cold weather. It looks worse than it plays but work will be done in the summer. What’s happening with the long term search for a new club secretary?
Chris Parkes, who is very experienced and a real Charlton man, is helping us. A Club Secretary is a vital role and we want to make sure that we get the right person. Sometimes, the best people are already employed so there are long periods of notice to work. Jim Rodwell and Andy Scott are both based at the training ground so keep a close eye on things.
Anyway, great result at Bolton, any questions for Nathan?

If it made a manager uncomfortable/hated doing must be a reason.
As you know yourself from Bromley, meetings with an audience and question and answer session always agood night if run correctly.0 -

All the questions were pre-submitted, which does have some virtues as not everyone wants to stick their hand up in a crowd of people and speak, but the questions were quite safe and when Ben did say something interesting there wasn't a follow up "Tells us more about it" type of question and it was straight onto the next question which might be a million miles from the last.
Interviews and questioning aren't easy so it's not a dig at anyone but all combined (the venue was the fans bar which isn't great either) it didn't really click into gear.0 -

is all that can work. The point being if it’s too open then we stand less chance of learning anything.0 -

Hoping the recording is made available on the clubs YouTube channel as whilst I'd love to watch live the 3am start on a Friday morning is a bit much. No commitment I hear you say. Yup, I must try harder! For those watching live I hope it is informative.2

I have become so cynical about this stuff these days.
I suspect any pertinent question that slips through will be met with obfuscation or even annoyance.
I expect platitudes and a defiant reaffirmation of their commitment to their "jam tomorrow" "project".
I don't trust the SMT and their motives.
No doubt some will be taken in by the Directors spiel and will gush about what an all round good egg Gavin Carter is.
Just win games.7 -

Nug said:As someone who has both my ISA and personal pension with Vanguard I have pretty much the whole lot invested in US and Global index funds. I’m concerned with what is going to happen with a Trump lead US and how that impacts the global economy. I’m 55, not thinking I’ll have to touch either until I’m 65ish, although you never know right. What should I be looking at to spread the risk a bit? Bonds? I get so confused with the vast array of them and when I look up the data they seem to perform so poorly. Any thoughts on what might be a good area to look at. When people mention cash is that a Money Market Fund? For years I’ve always just stuck with index funds and done pretty well at it.11
