With the exception of Bromley Addicks and one of the Kent ones, none of the other supporters groups or the club have organised a face to face meet since lockdown. These YouTube meetings never have the same issues in terms of difficult questions which probably suits the club and the other supporters groups

Well it’s about time the club organized a live meeting with fans in person at The Valley.

There was a very scripted live meeting with Garner at the Valley which he clearly hated doing and where the questions all had to be submitted in advance and where read out by Charlotte.

It wasn't a very good meeting IMHO.

Sorry I forgot about that one, as it was a total farce I obviously don't count that one.

What is needed is question asked, replied, and the opportunity for the questioner to go back. The zoon/you tube meeting completely take that opportunity away

If it made a manager uncomfortable/hated doing must be a reason.

As you know yourself from Bromley, meetings with an audience and question and answer session always agood night if run correctly.

IMHO it was bad because Garner didn't really want to be there.  He was the polar opposite of Holden in that he saw himself as a coach and anything else was a distraction.  He wasn't a bad talker but he wasn't the most natural or relaxed.  He was also relatively new in the role.  He also had two of his coaches along and every question was asked of all three of them which was repetitive. 

All the questions were pre-submitted, which does have some virtues as not everyone wants to stick their hand up in a crowd of people and speak, but the questions were quite safe and when Ben did say something interesting there wasn't a follow up "Tells us more about it" type of question and it was straight onto the next question which might be a million miles from the last.

Interviews and questioning aren't easy so it's not a dig at anyone but all combined (the venue was the fans bar which isn't great either) it didn't really click into gear.

Yes, we are building a strong relationship with the owner of the ground but by their very nature such talks are commercially sensitive so we can't say too much..  We and the American owners understand that longer tenure is important but there are ten years left so we are not concerned at this point.

Chris Parkes, who is very experienced and a real Charlton man, is helping us. A Club Secretary is a vital role and we want to make sure that we get the right person.  Sometimes, the best people are already employed so there are long periods of notice to work.  Jim Rodwell and Andy Scott are both based at the training ground so keep a close eye on things.

Football is an emotional subject and we all love our club but we all have different priorities and expectations so no answer to any question can ever be not controversial.

Don't think they are a waste of time or at least they don't have to be.

I think some fans build them up too much or think that some brilliant Kavanagh QC questioning will reveal big secrets.

In reality there is some PR guff and some interesting and new stuff.

I'd rather have them, flawed and limited as they are than not have them at all.

Some people seem to think that the Chair can go all Paxman on the guests!

Maybe at the start of the event the chairperson could ask openly and out loud which types of topics or questions won’t be allowed.
