  • Someone will ask about The Valley as they of course should, I agree it is the most important thing for the long term of our club.  Sadly CM will simply say that the negotiations are left to our owners as they know how billionairess think so are best places to deal with RD and that will be about all we get.  It is what has been said before.

    Where was it said before?

Must have been a very well run Q & A with intelligent, probing questions asked ;)
  • Can someone simply ask if Andy Scott is still about, and if he is then, why?  Given any footballing metric, his time with us has been a complete and utter failure.  He said he would be accountable and hold his hands up if he didn't deliver. He has not delivered and instead of holding his hands up has melted into the background.

I think it would be great to read aloud some Andy Scott quotes:

“We clearly needed a left-sided player, so Matt Penney came in. Really steady player, knows the game… We’re really happy with that.”

“Michael Hector and Gavin Kilkenny… They both know how to get promoted, they both know how to win games and play at a higher standard. And [the young players] will be able to see what it’s like to be good, to have high standards and be a winner.”

“Macauley Bonne shows his ability and what he can do differently, and will allow Miles Leaburn to learn from him.”

Tbf to Scott, Leaburn did learn what not to do from Bonne

Question for the panel: would they rather fight 100 duck-sized horses or 1 horse-sized duck?

These things are a waste of time really. It’s all just an effort at PR. This isn’t knocking the SMT at all. What question can ever be asked and answered that will please everyone ? Football is an emotional subject and we all love our club but we all have different priorities and expectations so no answer to any question can ever be not controversial.
Don't think they are a waste of time or at least they don't have to be.

I think some fans build them up too much or think that some brilliant Kavanagh QC questioning will reveal big secrets.

In reality there is some PR guff and some interesting and new stuff.

I'd rather have them, flawed and limited as they are than not have them at all.
    Agreed

Some people seem to think that the Chair can go all Paxman on the guests!
Maybe at the start of the event the chairperson could ask openly and out loud which types of topics or questions won’t be allowed.
Funny enough Bromley Addicks always did this with Richard Murray and his response was "ask about anything but individual player wages"

Murray was first class at the meetings.

I'd not be surprised if Carter answers that question, Methven will want to avoid flak.
They will have rehearsed their answer already.
  • Can someone ask about the 8+8+8 strategy as it seems to be currently something like 4+16+4.

Did that set a positive tone at the very start?

I did at Bromley Addicks and got interrupted by Methven before I could finish my question with a “look,…” response

I hope to Christ that ridiculous notion is history.
The rank stupidity of shoehorning 8 academy graduates regardless of quality and the frankly absurd idea that we have 8 elite players.

    The height of bad manners.
I'd have then interrupted him by saying "I'd like to finish my question".

I expect this question has already been asked and answered but I think it would need quite a bit of searching for.
Will it be possible to listen to this broadcast at a later date on Charlton TV?

The previous meetings are still available on YouTube, so no doubt tonight's meeting will be able to be seen anytime later on YouTube.

    Thanks for that Clive.
I use Charlton TV quite a lot and would prefer that option if possible, can you confirm that likelihood or not, as the case may be?
    Cheers.

I guess the way to find out is to see if you can find the previous ones on Charlton TV

Not necessarily…..even some recently archived stuff is edited and removed quite quickly…..if I’m not mistaken.

Well let’s see what happens. Be interested if any of the few questions I’ve sent in get mentioned.

How old is Duchalet and is he still active in running his enterprises? The only advantage I can see to delaying negotiations is that he may not be involved

"Senior management team, thank you very much for joining us tonight. We, the fans. appreciate you taking time from your busy schedules to accommodate this meeting. Hopefully the dialogue between the fans and those running our club will continue to be an open an honest one. With that in mind, I'll start with a question that I feel resonates with the majority of the fanbase. What is the current timeline for stopping Charlton being shit. Thanks!"

I either hadn’t noticed or it hadn’t been mentioned that Ali Maxwell will be part of the presenting team. Having a neutral might stop it being too nicey nicey

If he wants future work from the club, then he might not want to be controversial this evening and rock the apple cart

Sure, he’s not going to crucify them and he won’t have the same understanding or strength of feeling as the fans but he won’t be as soft as I expect Charlotte to be

Hopefully the host will kick off by apologising for not having any organ grinders on the panel?
