Shrewsbury in with a shout at winning a point at Stockport on Tuesday
Not much use unless we can beat Bristol Rovers though. Need to worry about what we do first, everything else beyond our control.

Yaya is assistant to Mancini with the Saudi national team so a League 1 game is a bit of an odd one!

Shrews pressed and defended well (until the final minutes).

We were slow, tired and pedestrian for most of the game. The ball needed to be played faster around them. Lacked creativity.

Leaburn looked like a passenger and Chuks caused mayhem but in reality was way off his best. Doc had a chance that would have been easier to score than miss.

    Tuesday now very interesting…
Home again, three points and could be in the play offs. And we owe Rovers one.
  • Back to back wins can’t argue with that. 😀👏🏻
  • Win ugly if you have to, anything to get out of this league. Repeatedly pumping long balls up to the big man isn't pretty, but whatever it takes!
I hope we learned something today.
  • Sat here waiting for the train that never comes......La la la la la la la la, la!

    Ahh who cares.

Thought we were competent for most of the match. Shrews did not threaten till 92nd minute. I felt at half time we needed to up the pace and in injury time we did. We need to do that more during the game. Touchwood we do get a signing that can give us the guile that is missing

Luke Berry is, I think it can no longer be argued with, a horrible void in the heart of our play, a waning higher level grafter turned luxury wage thief. I fucking hate him and all the players who fit this exact mould that we keep signing for some reason

Luke Berry has a Saudi grandparent perhaps  ;)
  • Well how do you summarise that?

90 minutes of near total domination against a very poor Shrewsbury team but hardly ever looking like scoring and a game that in all honesty was pretty hard to watch.

After 94 minutes Shrewsbury manage to miss a gilt edged chance that should have earned them a robbery style victory.

And then a minute later Small bangs the winner in!

    Crazy!

Was it Napoleon who said "give me a lucky general rather than a good one?" Seriously beginning to think that is what Jones is.

And after a season of pretty average football the play-offs are in sight.

    Crazy!

That’s why we love the game. Bored to tears for 95 minutes. Nearly (should have) lost it a few minutes earlier, and then out of nowhere we’re kings of the world.

Successful teams find a way to win and we did. Was it a bit harsh on a Shrewsbury team who defended doggedly? Yes. Was it a bit fortunate after we failed to create really any other clear chances? Yes. Do I give a fuck? No.

Big big result that now needs to be backed up with another win on Tuesday. As a performance, it’s highlighted, perfectly, why we need to add one or two more players in the attacking third to give some more creative spark and options to change things up. We have to get better at breaking down sides that defend like Shrewsbury did. That’s a problem for another day though, tonight is about enjoying the rewards for keeping on keeping on two games running.
Close the thread. Nail on head.

Oooh, it’s getting tight up at the top for those play-off places. It’s gonna be dog eat dog until the end of the season. I quite fancy a trip to Wemberlee

Poor game, where we huffed and puffed and created very little. To come away with 3 points is massive, and exactly what you need to do if you want promotion. Wrexham have picked up a lot of late winning goals, it's a very nice habit to have.

Not sure where all the Berry hate has come from. He was no less effective than everyone else out there today. Winning ugly is a good habit to have. #OnOn

Nope. He's heading up a new consortium that wants to buy the club.

    Possibly.

Think 'hate' is a poor choice of words. Think people are pointing out how ineffective he is and that isn't just today, it's been a while now.

Yeah, i don't hate him, I just have only seen him do anything half decent about twice and i would rather we had someone consistently better.

I know it's all ifs and buts but throwing away two points at Oakwell at the death could come back to bite us on the bum.
  • How much have we improved this season? Did a bit of Googling and found we are 10 points better off than after 26 games last season.

An upgrade on Berry is surely the one of the two signings we’re targeting? At the moment the only option is to put on Anderson (or Allan Campbell when he’s on the bench). Anderson adds energy which is exactly what’s needed sometimes, but we need a starter who can offer a combination of creativity, flair and energy.
  • Frustrating game to watch. Shrewsbury offered next to nothing yet nearly stole a victory.

Our team may lack quality but they can win ugly. Two lucky wins in a row.

Set pieces and crossing need to improve. Lots of possession but little cutting edge.

Was about to type "we could play until Tuesday and we won't score here" and then up pops Small to grab us a big 3 points.

The game was an abomination. It takes two to make a decent game and Shrewsbury had no interest in doing anything other than nicking it.

Our general lack of creativity shone through for most of the game. We need someone through the door to replace Berry. Yes he pops up with the odd goal, but too much of the game passes him by.

In these sorts of games, set plays often make the difference. A shame ours were, for the most part, awful. Please do not let Gillesphey near another corner - the same wafted ball to the back post on repeat is really not helpful. Said it on the match thread and will say it again, how many of our set plays ended up with a simple catch for Blackman?

Positives? Obviously the win and the fact we kept at it. Campbell played well as did Coventry. Small will get plaudits for the goal, but Shrewsbury doubling up on him definitely stifled his attacking threat. Decent cameo from Chuks and obviously good to have Ramsey back.

Negatives? Leaburn seems to have two levels at the moment "beast mode" or "completely anonymous" he was poor today. Gillesphey gives me palpations every time he has to defend and again I thought Mitchell looked off his game. Set plays were horrible and we still haven't got a midfielder to unlock a low block.

It's frustrating as I think we are probably a left sided centre back and a creative midfielder away from having a proper go at the play offs.

I liked that GA went round shaking all the Charlton players' hands as they went towards the tunnel
I thought his side were set out really well for what it's worth. They could survive
