  • I liked that GA went round shaking all the Charlton players' hands as they went towards the tunnel
Keeping his options open in case Jones gets sacked.

Oooh, it’s getting tight up at the top for those play-off places. It’s gonna be dog eat dog until the end of the season. I quite fancy a trip to Wemberlee

Said it before and I know it’s if/but/maybe - but that bloody Barnsley last kick of the game goal at Oakwell is a twat. We’d replace them in 6th now.

Was about to type "we could play until Tuesday and we won't score here" and then up pops Small to grab us a big 3 points.

The game was an abomination. It takes two to make a decent game and Shrewsbury had no interest in doing anything other than nicking it.

Our general lack of creativity shone through for most of the game. We need someone through the door to replace Berry. Yes he pops up with the odd goal, but too much of the game passes him by.

In these sorts of games, set plays often make the difference. A shame ours were, for the most part, awful. Please do not let Gillesphey near another corner - the same wafted ball to the back post on repeat is really not helpful. Said it on the match thread and will say it again, how many of our set plays ended up with a simple catch for Blackman?

Positives? Obviously the win and the fact we kept at it. Campbell played well as did Coventry. Small will get plaudits for the goal, but Shrewsbury doubling up on him definitely stifled his attacking threat. Decent cameo from Chuks and obviously good to have Ramsey back.

Negatives? Leaburn seems to have two levels at the moment "beast mode" or "completely anonymous" he was poor today. Gillesphey gives me palpations every time he has to defend and again I thought Mitchell looked off his game. Set plays were horrible and we still haven't got a midfielder to unlock a low block.

It's frustrating as I think we are probably a left sided centre back and a creative midfielder away from having a proper go at the play offs.
Can't disagree with any of that. Our set pieces are atrocious, can't believe we actually have a specific coach for them.

Exciting stuff at the end, the sort of feeling that has been spoiled by VAR in the top leagues.
Well done lads, now finish the job on Tuesday night.

I know it's all ifs and buts but throwing away two points at Oakwell at the death could come back to bite us on the bum.

I understand where you're coming from but it's one of those things that inevitably happens at least once to every team, every season - that is actually the only points we have dropped from a winning position all season which is a huge positive in my book - one thing about us which is a key difference from last year is when we get in front we STAY in front generally - it must have happened about 10 times last season where we managed to turn wins into draws.

I think it’s the fact it was literally the last kick. After coming from behind with two great goals. Anyway. We are where we are. Onwards. COYRs

Frustrating until the goal. Good substitutions . Chuks makes the difference. Onwards to Tuesday. Jones should be captain .

The biggest cheers always come when you think it wasn't going to happen.  Not a thriller, but we mostly kept composed, although how they missed that sitter I'll never know.

Glad Small finally got the goal he obviously so desperately wanted.  Crossing absolutely everything we can keep him not just this season but next, wherever we are. Someone who can consistently beat two players at once, which we see him do time and time again, is worth his weight in gold.  Opposition are going to be trebling up on him soon, never mind doubling up.

Everyone else generally did their bit, thought TC was outstanding again, especially in the first half, and Lloydy back to his reliable self.

Gillesphey and to a lesser extent Mitchell both having a couple of "moments" again, and whilst he's great at getting the ball and moving around, someone sort out Edwards delivery please.  Everything's overhit by about 20%.

Tuesday is now massive.  Fingers crossed.

Wouldn't mind Berry as a last 20-25 sub if we need a goal type player but it's clear that we need an upgrade in that role. Hopefully we either have someone very close to signing that can really push the team forward in that regard.

Wasn’t a lucky win but we made hard work of it by not moving the ball quickly enough.
Berry is ineffective. I paid particular attention to him today as I wanted to see how he contributed to the team. Sadly he didn’t. Doherty gets stuck in, wins the ball and looks to get forward. Berry doesn’t.
Leaburn was poor and would do well to follow Chuks more aggressive and attacking approach.
Got to agree that those playing alongside Aneke need to play off him better. They ought to anticipate him winning most headers or laying it off.
Anyway, an important win today and we kept going against a negative and time wasting team.
  • Not sure where all the Berry hate has come from. He was no less effective than everyone else out there today. Winning ugly is a good habit to have. #OnOn
Would like him as a squad player but we desperately need an effective attacking midfielder in his position.

This is the kind of game/result that is a proper Nathan Jones speciality. Yes he's a nutter, yes he comes up with some odd statements but his self belief is ironclad and it does affect the team and they kept going to the end.

  • Brilliant to get a last minute winner. Fully deserved although we huffed & puffed our way through eventually. Although the ref wasn’t the worst we’ve had the inconsistency from refs particularly at this level drives me nuts. It seemed he couldn’t wait to blow for a foul when we had won the ball & the bookings for our players were laughable compared to some of the fouls committed by Shrewsbury. I’m convinced some of these refs have never kicked a ball in their lives.

And we got rid of TT, who could actually deliver a ball.

When I saw this sky over the Valley with 10 minutes to go I knew everything would be alright.

I doubt very much that Bristol Rovers are relishing a trip to The Valley for Tuesday's match, and rightly so, we will wipe the floor with them, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and we ain't about to lose sight of it again...COME ON YOU REDS...👍

What a win, great scenes when we scored!
Don’t get some of the comments above that it was a crap game. We are league one not premier league, today you can’t fault the effort and endeavour just a lack of quality in the box.

One of those games where the longer it went on the more it looked like we'd get hit with a sucker punch. And we very nearly did. The better side but that wasn't saying much against an unimaginative Shrewsbury team. A frustrating game with some frustrating performances. Leaburn stood out as being particularly ineffective which given his attributes is hard to fathom.

Ultimately 95 minutes of of fairly uninspiring football forgotten in an instant. Nothing better than an injury time winner!

I thought Shrewsbury were incredibly well organised and we had little or no guile. In the end pure persistence and effort won it
