I do find it strange that Enslin hasn't been included on the bench for a league game, he did so well in the trophy game and we currently have no wide options on the bench. Weird.
Think (like Dixon) it must be a mixture of physicality and a plan to not overwhelm youth players with too much too soon. Like Josh Laq and Dixon he has travelled with the squad to away games a couple of times, been involved where possible and then dropped back into the U21s. Feels like a pattern that suggests a plan to me
I think there’s probably an element of not wanting to leave out senior players too. If they’re training well they won’t expect to be dropped.

He’d have likely got a chance in previous years as by now we’d usually have a long list of injuries.

Another Oxford name could be Josh Maceacran?

Hasn't been on the bench for a few games or is he injured?

Hasn't been involved since Rowett came in but was only making sub appearances under Buckingham.

The midfielder could well be Jellis from Wallsall as previously mentioned.
Struck down with a mystery illness on Friday according to the main Walsall forum.
They absolutely love the bloke by the way. Not that means anything. Burton fans loved Taylor. Jones didn't.

The midfield is lacking someone who can break down a defence with a killer pass. Is Moxon that individual?
As much as it may upset the Berry haters, there is no evidence that Moxon is an upgrade. Has not played anywhere near the level that Berry has played, for a number of seasons...

Jellis would fit more into the Berry role which is what we need.

Looks an exciting player but I can't imagine Walsall letting him go on the cheap. His contract expires a the end of the season but Walsall have a 1 year option.

Nothing wrong with Berry, we just need an alternative, somebody that will run with ball at the back line IMO

Also Berry isn’t as effective if you are asking him to play a lot of minutes. Be much better starting one game and coming off the bench the next

Like I said before, at current Walsall holding out for better price and are not desperate to sell. our pull is the players personal ambition but he hasn't asked to be let go, he is happy where he is. That said Im not going to get an update from saddlers cousin again else I'd  feel like I'm being annoying. Content in the knowledge we are in the frame at least.
  • Small not good enough for championship , his final ball no where near good  enough .. as we seen over the past month or so .. has the pace and energy …. If Ramsey had stayed fit not even sure he would have been first choice ?
But like anything it will be his agent in his ear come the end of the season … another career ruined by moving to fast ? players don’t learn their trade now days it’s just money

    Where to start here.

    1. He played really well against Preston in the cup. Preston are, as you may have noticed, a Championship side, so to say he isn't good enough is ridiculous.
    2. You're talking about a kid who left Everton to go to Southampton because he feared not getting any playing time. He also went to St Mirren on loan twice so he's clearly someone who just wants to play football rather than sit at home counting his money.

Berry is another one who is certainly useful enough to have in the squad but not realistically good enough to be a promotion level regular. A younger and more consistent alternative would be a boost and Berry would still have value around the squad IMO.

Would that not tie up with what @DubaiCAFC has now said about the hold up being the club in question now looking for a replacement?

If I was Jellis, I'd want to stay at Walsall to see out the season, and win the title.

Players and managers so often jump ship in these situations, missing out on actually achieving something. He'll be in L1 with Walsall next season anyway, and can always leave in the summer as a hero who helped get them promoted.

Bauer left Charlton on a free after his contract ended, but left as a hero.

I agree. But it would really show some ambition on our part.
    I know nothing about him.
What I do know is, Walsall are flying and he's a highly regarded member of that side.

To add to that, he left Tamworth last January so missed out on their promotion celebrations, so it would be 2 years running that he’d miss out. I think he will want to win the league there and then move this summer

Depends on the dream he is sold.

2 points off the play-offs, if you pitch that he could be the difference along with another signing that gets us into that top 6, then he has the chance to jump league 2 to the champ in 6 months.

Now, I think we are a long way off of being play-off contenders, regardless of the league position. It looks positive now, but I think we have another awful run in us, failing to beat the teams at the bottom of this god forsaken league as we cannot break teams down when they sit in against us.

But I reckon I could also put together a strong argument to attract players using our current position. For instance, we are much better against the better teams who like the ball, so we would be a team to avoid if we got into the top 6.
  • I’m still hoping we land a decent forward.
Our defence is solid, especially now Kayne is back but I worry Chuks won’t make 30mins for most of the games we have between now and May……. and I think we need to have more goals available. And I don’t think we’d have that with our current forwards and no Chuks….. 🤷‍♂️

No it doesn't but I was also told that we had cooled our interest so could be Dubai is talking about someone else, potentially someone we've moved onto since.
Potentially go back in if the other deal falls through, but the last part is just my speculation

4 goals and 2 assists in a top of the table team which has scored 52 goals are respectable numbers, but lower than I was expecting.

Funny how your vendetta against Coventry has ended hasn’t it? He was the worst player in the world according to you but not a peep the last few months
