Only a matter of time before Coventry gets a 2 match ban because of 10 yellows. I’d be very surprised if we were not to bring in 3 players between now and Monday’s deadline.

Another central midfielder, we can’t go with just the ones we have now.

Another attacking midfielder, competition with Berry but someone who is different and can carry the ball through the middle well as well as pick a pass.

Another wide forward type who can help Small and TC. They must have pace and the ability to carry the ball, get us up the pitch, and run at players/in behind defenders.

Bring in these players and we have a real chance of doing what we want to achieve by the end of May.
Feels like we're already at last minute. com

We can debate the amount spent/not spent on players etc but the investment in new medical staff and the apparent change in culture there was worth every penny on current evidence.
Oh is Ahadme injured ? I’d hoped he’d been ditched .

Had his foot stood on by TC in the warmup at Preston , no idea how long he's out for , has probably scuppered any plans to loan him out.

Surely it can’t be that bad, he played the first 45 mins of that game

Ballooned up afterwards apparently. Guess having a tight boot on stopped it happening sooner
  • Did not notice Fiorini had moved again. Quite the career decline.

If he is injured why did they have a clear whiteboard showing no injured players for the online meeting last week? They seemed very proud of the fact we had no injured players.

The meeting was on the Thursday night and the game was Tuesday. They probably take a couple of days to assess the injury before putting it up on the board?

The meeting was 9 days after the Preston game

I wonder what the percentage is of former players from the last 5 seasons playing in a level below us within a year of leaving. My guess is very high and an indication of the dross we have had in that time...
I wonder what the percentage is that Chelsea and the likes have of their signings playing in the Prem for them or anyone else. These big clubs hoover up young talent, that are usually loaned out for the entirety of their contracts and I guess they will find their level. Some make the grade, but I'd wager a high percentage don't.

If Charlton are taking a punt on the likes of Dixon and even Ahadme, they may be found to be at lower level in their careers further down the line.

Only at CAFC would we have a list of players who are injured enough to be ruled out of an online meeting.

Dundee United potentially with a CM pairing of Lewis Fiorini and Allan Campbell 😬 , possibly 2 of our worst loan signings in recent years.....
What an endorsement for Scottish football that is.

How often do Chelsea sign established pros for their first team squad only for them to leave them and end up at a Championship club?

All they need is Fraser to jump across the street to complete the set!
200 yards apart, he'd probably not make it.

Always find Scottish football hard to judge. You'll get players like Josh Edwards has that will come down , settle in straight away and look like a class act and then you'll get some that never settle and are wanting a move back north inside 6 months.

I think there was a great post about this by someone recently (@cabbles ?), looking back at previous years players and where they went.
  • I can't imagine that we'd be comfortable letting Edun, Taylor and now also potentially ACampbell go without being pretty sure that we have at least one (if not two) midfielders come in. If either of Coventry or Docherty got multiple week injuries, we've basically got Anderson and the academy players as cover and that's it. I don't think we'd be letting players go if we didn't have the confidence we would have them replaced - even with squad trimming, you need the cover.

I hopeful that we get two - another box-to-box CM, and another that is more creative/attack-minded. Another winger would certainly be useful to provide some cover for Small and TC and/or be a "game-changer". Sadly, I still think Dixon is too raw to make a difference this season. Defensively, we'll probably be fine with what we have, but I would absolutely not be averse to backup/cover in the LCB role.

The CAM should be the one with the money spent. The others can be cheaper punts or loans - gambles that could pay off again. If we do miss out on playoffs this season, then we have a strong, strong basis for next year to build.
  • Is this a new ruling that the transfer window stays open till Feb 3 or a one off?

The date usually changes with each window, I assume based on where the weekend falls and in August the bank holiday too. Might be lined up with the window closed dates in Europe as well.
