    Jeff Smith, Motocross rider.

    Born 13 February 1934.

World Champion in 1964 and 1965 and a regular on Grandstand in the sixties when Motocross was regularly featured.

He won his World Championships on a 4 stroke engined BSA Victor. BSA were a British firm based in Small Heath Birmingham.

Britain did manufacture things successfully once upon a time.

  • Saw Robert Wagner in one of the Pink Panther films the other night, still going at 94.
  • Mary Berry 90 today
  • Carole Kaye was 90 a couple of days ago. Carole who? You might ask. You might not have heard of her but you will have heard her bass guitar as she was one of the most prolific session musicians, apparently having played on over 10,000 tracks, including many absolute classics. Google her for more info.
  • Herb Alpert is 90 today. Remember his music well, he always seemed to be guest star on shows in the seventies with the Tijuana Brass. Just given myself a Spanish Flea earworm typing this!
