Barnsley’s away record is brilliant so I’m not taking things for granted .It’s vitally important we score first .I’m going for a 2-1 win ( Jones & Godden)3

Barnsley win and their right back in the hunt for top six.
I personally feel a draw wouldn't be the end of the world; for those of you who believe we can finish top 2 it may well put that dream to bed but 5th or 6th and handling the odd injury that will incur before the end of the season to key players will surely halt the momentum and charge up the League. It will be an amazing improvement in results from November if we finish 5th or 6th.
I will go 1-1 against Barnsley who are a fine away side, just like we are a fine home side since early December.
My mantra is it's just as important the 11 at the business end of Matches than the beginning so Nathan, the analysts and Doctor Abbott have some some big discussions on who will be at their optimum fitness with the 3 games a week in March.
Beware the ills of March !
Shit happens, and it's the favourite word on CL after a poor performance and has been for the 11 odd years I have been on here.

I said it on the play off thread, but Barnsley have the worst record in the league for condeding in minutes 76+, by some distance (they have conceded 19, the next highest is Burton on 14). Are Barnsley the new Chartlon?
Conversely, we have the best record for scoring after 76 minutes (18, Bolton are second with 16).
Even if we are 1-0 down before 76 minutes, I still believe we can do it and will win 2-1
Need to put a bet on for at least 1 goal 76 mins+4 -
5 - 3 home win2

It’s been a long time since I got up for a 3:45 midweek game, but the alarm is set for Wednesday morning.11

Watched them play Northampton on SkySports+ a week or so ago. They were honking! We will batter them if they play like that2

Home game v decent opponents who've been hanging around the promotion fringes all season, but nothing to fear here .. ideal to keep us tuned up for what will be a hell for leather end to the season and at worst, a place in the play offs .. it's vital we keep our players fit .. I am convinced that winning runs are an aid to keeping fit. A lot of 'keeping fit' is all in the mind i m o, and our lot must be super confident and mentally fit after nicking a win on Saturday .. long may it continue
Home win and ready for a hectic match at Stockport next Saturday1 -
I'd play Gilbert from the start, with Berry to come on for the last twenty five minutes or so, and also start Leaburn over Godden. With three very big games in a week, and Godden playing all ninety-seven on Saturday, he may need the rest (before bringing him back in to start on Saturday). Berry continues to be very average most games - you cannot fault his workrate, but I feel if we have one area where we could improve it's that attacking midfielder role. Again, playing Gilbert and resting Berry for this game may do him a favour to be more ready on Saturday.
The Docherty for Anderson switch is pretty obvious.
Everybody else should be OK.
I want the win, but a draw here would be OK, as long as we don't lose on Saturday too. I'm going for 2-1 with them scoring late and us hanging on...

My crystal ball is telling me that we score early and the rest of the game remains goalless. As for our goalscorer, I can't quite see as it needs a clean and I've run out of glass cleaner, Sorry.3

On the preview thread for the L'Orient game Clive posted the stats from the EFL's preview with the final one being:clive said:
- Charlton have lost just two of their last 15 league games (W9 D4), scoring at least twice in 10 of their last 13.
That's now "Charlton have lost just two of their last 16 league games (W10, D4), scoring at least twice in 11 of their last 14".
Whatever tomorrow evening's score ends up - and I hope (or is that "expect"?) it's us winning - it'll be at least Charlton 2.0 -
I'd love to see Leaburn and Gilbert get a start, but with Docherty almost certain to come back in, that would mean making three changes to a team that just keeps winning. I don’t want to mess with the momentum unless we put in a performance that actually calls for changes.
I’m feeling pretty confident about this one, which, of course, makes me nervous! But I’m just excited to see this Charlton side back on the pitch. There’s something special about this group—there’s a real sense of belief and togetherness that I haven’t felt since the Bowyer days.
Barnsley are no pushovers, especially coming off three straight wins. They’ll be up for it and will try to frustrate us, making it as tough as possible to play our game. If we stay composed in the final third, I think we’ll win comfortably. If not, it could be a long night.
Prediction: 2-0 Charlton
Scorers: Berry x25 -
Very encouraging to hear Barnsley were leggy late on and eight or nine players out injured or suspended.
I went early with 1-1 but hopefully we have a fully fit squad to pick from and 18 players desperate to get at the Tykes.

I don’t understand this ‘I'll play Gilbert from the start’ viewpoint being shared other than he can cross a ball effectively. This is a team that has now basically been starting once or twice a week for the past 2 months. They are probably the fittest team in the league. Throwing a player that’s only been with us for a month into that mix and expecting him to last the full 90-100 minutes is unreasonable and he will most likely have to be substituted around the 60 minutes mark. That will mean he won’t be on the pitch to capitalise upon a tiring opposition defence in the later stages when we most need him.

Jones has shown consistency after decent performances in picking the same 11 from those available. I can't see him changing three players as some have suggested.4

Anyone else at The Valley in mid 80s when we went 0-3,down and won 5-3? I was a student and had friends from Barnsley in the away end. Could see them jumping up and down when they scored then it all turned round and got even better when their striker got sent off. Nearly all the goals in front of the Covered End?

Gotta make sure this isn't 'after The Lord Mayors Show' type performance. A win here will really set us up3
