  • Got a few gigs coming up. Potentially the Skalites in Sidcup next Saturday, The Who the day after, Secret Affair at Dartford social club April 4th and The Chords at the 100 Club the following Saturday (supported by my mate’s band, Mojo Blues).
  • We saw Peter Hook & The Light at La Rochelle on Friday night. They were brilliant. I think I enjoyed it more than New Order at Manchester last year. If you like Joy Division it's an absolute must. They played all of Substance by New Order followed, after a short pause, by all of Substance by Joy Division. Peter Hook is a guitar warrior. At the age of 69, my wife and I were flabbergasted by the energy and passion he put into the show.

We're seeing them at The Troxy on Good Friday.
  • Not a gig until December, but pleased to have got 2 nice tickets for Madness/Squeeze at the O2
  • Sad news from the Lilacs, who we were seeing on Saturday, they've had to postpone their entire tour as the guitarist Sam has been diagnosed with testicular cancer.

The band named themselves after the Lilac Centre where the same lad's mum was treated for her terminal cancer.

Awful news but some positive messages coming out. There's also been a bit of a push from fans on their EP, and it looks like it's currently reached no 6 in the iTunes album chart.

Great double bill…looking forward to it already.

I saw Lauren Mayberry, the front lady from Chvrches, on her solo (with a band) tour at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush. For me, it was really good but lacked that magic spark that makes a gig outstanding. Still, most enjoyable, even if it’s hard to find a pub that sells decent beer in the area. I feel sorry for QPR fans.

  • Drink in Hammersmith and jump on the tube 1 stop to Goldhawk Road.
  • Have a bit of a run of gigs coming up. My ears aren't going to be happy.

    Spyres at The Lower Third
    Gallus at The George Tavern
Red Hook at The Lower Third (daughter's choice)
Indoor Pets & The Hubbard's at Colours in Hoxton

Particularly looking forward to Gallus. About as Scottish as it's possible to be!

  • I've got The Mary Wallopers tomorrow at Brixton.

You can get cream for that

Feel old. Genuinely never heard of them!

A poor man’s version of The Pogues for a new generation.  They’re a man down @Covered End after Sean McKenna left the band a few weeks ago.

Fantastic name, never heard of them either. Getting old I suppose.

    Agreed Tel.
Seeing The Pogues on 3rd May  :D

  • Mind you The Pogues are a poor man's version of The Pogues these days RIP Shane.

Named after a small rowing boat in the harbour of their home town Dundalk.  They later found out that the owner of the boat had named it after a sex worker from the docks. She apparently liked cider & starting riots! The band is well named 😉
  • Caught The Reytons in Barcelona tonight. Blown away. One of the best gigs I've seen since The Idles were here.
    Wow

Thoroughly enjoyed it until they sang what I thought was an anti English song.
I may have misheard the chorus but doubt it and I kinda switched off after that.

Sing pro England songs, sing pro Ireland songs, sing what you want (within reason) but please don’t sing anti English songs or anti Ireland especially when you’re in England
    Love not hate.

    Spoilt it for me.

  • The Who were good tonight but suffered a few sound issues. Managed to catch up with @Solidgone before the show, always a pleasure but was still suffering after yesterday so couldn’t join him in a drink!

  • The last Who gig?…@Davemehmet and I have been saying this for a few years now. But I’ll see you at the next who gig.

Level 42 were very good too.
