  • Peter Perrett at Islington Assembly Halls last night was amazingly good. His son Jamie is superb on guitar and they have the great John Cowsill on drums. Mixture of Only Ones classics and stuff from his excellent new LP. PP in great voice.
  • Franz Ferdinand at Shepherd's Bush and The Wombats at the O2 coming up for me next month
  • Got a few coming up
    - Soft play, Village Underground. Small gig for them, will be sweaty
    - Wombats, Earth hackney.  New album launch(ish) gig

Managed to get pulp tickets at o2 for June also.  Really looking forward to seeing them inside an venue for the first time (always outdoors before)

My daughter will be extremely jealous about the Soft Play tickets. Was ballot only wasn't it?

No.  Brit Week tickets did go on general sale via the Dice app, but sold out in minutes.  There is a prize draw still running for a couple more days: https://britsweek.warchild.org.uk/prize-draws/soft-play-prize-draw?utm_source=earned_website&utm_medium=landing_page

Soft play, despite the name change, still one of the best live bands on the circuit, even if I am too old for this shit.....
  • Seeng the Absolute Stone Roses at The Pelton tonight.
  • My first gig of the year was on Monday, the Spanish band Hinds at Concorde 2 in Brighton. They were enormous fun - they're playing the Electric Ballroom in Camden on Tuesday.

More coming up this week - Personal Trainer at the Dome in Tufnell Park (not been there for about 30 years!) on Wednesday, the Bug Club at the Electric Ballroom on Thursday.
  • Marilyn Manson, wasn’t a huge fan but liked some. Very surprised how good it was last night.
  • Seeng the Absolute Stone Roses at The Pelton tonight.
Craking gig, James Rodwell was in there
  • Kasabian this Tuesday at Shepherd's Bush Empire,

  • Will be seeing Sparks in June , always a good night out .

I’ve got tickets as well. Looking forward to it.
  • Kasabian this Tuesday at Shepherd's Bush Empire,
As I knew (only decided to go last minute). Kasabian without Tom, is like Oasis without Liam.
It’s got no attitude or swagger.
Just Serge prancing around singing when he felt like it, which wasn’t enough.
The audience sang more than him.
9/10 for the audience, 7/10 for Kasabian.
  • That's sad to hear as they were a great live band
  • Just got tickets to see Manic, Charlatans and Ash. It's all about the nostalgia circuit from now on!
  • State Champs and Broadside at The Forum tonight. Not my cup of tea, but making the sacrifice for my daughter.
  • I saw Junodream at Electric Brixton last night. I went on a friend's recommendation and thought they were excellent, playing their biggest gig to date.

Note: I took pictures when the lighting was either red or white, and definitely not when it was red and blue.

  • State Champs at the Forum last night. Accompanied my daughter, not really my thing, but they are very good at what they do. Just a shame they are followed by a load of wankers. Daughter took an elbow to the side of the head when a fight broke out in the most pit and the security waded in to break it up.......and the less said about the much hyped support band (The Home Team) the better......utter shit.
  • Personal Trainer at the Dome in Tufnell Park on Wednesday were great - strange to be in that venue for the first time in about 30 years but good to see it back in use again.

The Bug Club at the Electric Ballroom were great fun, but it was a strange crowd - a little band of hyped-up mosh-pit idiots doing their best to barge into everyone else. I nipped to the back for the encore and it looked like it might have got a bit nasty towards the end.

  • Love the lineup
  • I went to see Black Foxxes at the Camden Assembly last night. My advice is don't go to this venue. We arrived just as the band came on, climbed the stairs and ended up on the top stair in a short corridor leading to the main area, unable to see the stage at all. Tickets were still on sale for the gig yesterday, but the venue was either vastly overbooked, or someone took a backhander on the door. It was, to be frank, dangerously packed. We left after five minutes and went to the pub; I still haven't seen Black Foxxes!

Sounds like a similar experience to when I saw Declan Welsh there a while back. It's a very small venue and it was insanely busy. Literally couldn't move. It's also like a sauna.

Not in any hurry to go back there TBH.

  • Great line up, just a shame it’s at Hyde Park, probably the worst concert venue I’ve been to

Not been to the Tottenham stadium or Olympic park for gigs then?

Saw REM there a few years ago and it was pretty good.

Last couple of times I’ve been there, the sound has been awful and the queues at the bar/food were ridiculous.

I saw REM at Twickenham in 2008.
A few years ago I thought I’d not heard much from them for years.
I searched on google and they disbanded in 2011.
