My favorite baseball commentator used to talk a lot about TWTW: The Will To Win. This team has it in spades. Never get their heads down. Never get too low. Just keep plugging away in the belief that a moment of quality will shine through. It did again today via absolute basic route one football.

Same. Got an assist today with a brilliant flick on. Had some good touches. I think he's finding some fitness and form again. He's looking a bit more like the old Chuks where he looks to set others up as well as score. He tried to play Mbick in late on when he was 20 yards from goal and that showed real growth for me. 2-3 weeks ago Chuks would have had a go himself. This time he was looking for a teammate. The ball didn't come off but still. I love that absolute unit.
Haven't got round to marking myself yet, but a quick check on the players marks thread looks like I must have been watching another game judging by the marks being given to that absolute prat of the alleged ref...🤦♂️
Nice to see the Valley relatively full. Thought the atmosphere was a bit flat. Covered End superb as always. At one point they started a "if you love Charlton stand up" and it genuinely looked like about 80% of the stadium (excluding CE) remained seated.
Got a team in 4th, chance of autos and people still don't back the team other than when we score. Hopefully in the play-offs (if we don't sneak 2nd) we can vocally back the team a bit more as a one off at least.
They did their homework, TC was marked out of the game, and no TC, no party. A great Chuks knock on gave us a good chance and I think most people expected Godden to bury it, great finisher.
Hopefully that's enough of McIntyre now and either Gillesphey will be back or Alex Mitchell can come into the fold.
Oh and what is Tyler Roberts doing playing for them. He was head and shoulders above the rest of that team and was everywhere. Not sure how he’s ended up there. But would be very happy to look into his availability in the summer.
Early start from Weymouth but Bank Holiday traffic behaved and Charlton made it worth the effort to get back.
Been a critic of Berry but that was the best performance I’ve seen of him this season and the first time I think he’s been man of the match.

We've had so many strikers over the years I’ve had no confidence in that position but as soon as I saw it was Godden I knew he would slot it home. What a second half to the season he has had. I’ve no idea how he didn’t find the net with that header from two yards though.
Getting to the tense part of the season and you can see from the results around us there are no easy games. We’ve also got tired players. It’s fantastic to eke out a win with a bigger crowd.
Respect for Northampton, thought they put in a real shift and no fan could fault their effort.
Not a fan of the sarcastic cheers from some when McIntyre was subbed. Yes he messed up, but this squad have been supreme over the last 4 months and deserve 100% backing at the mo. They’ve earned it.
Onto Wycombe. Big win for them today. Cracking game in prospect.

Their 15 was also in refs face gobbing off constantly - think he wanted McIntyre sent off as we was still having a go after they scored.
Knew the ref was going to be shite when he booked Coventry for a non- foul in the first couple of minutes. Said at the time there will either be 12 bookings or he'll only penalize us and let them off which is what happened.
He didn't at the time. Was pleading his innocence like mad. But that just footballers for you I s'pose.
As he should. Always put doubt in the referee's mind and he'll possibly give you a borderline one in your favour later
I understand the theory, but that only works when there's any room for doubt. To paraphrase Curbishley, short of actually catching the ball and handing it to the ref with a signed confession, he couldn't have made it more obvious
I stick to the mantra that I like Small and TC switching back to their natural side at some time during a game. Good call to replace McIntyre who made two big mistakes, one leading to the penalty and a miss kick back pass that we managed to survive.
Lloyd Jones wins so many headers in defensive and attacking the oppositions box. Gutted for Thierry that he didn't get an assist from Matty's header which rattled the crossbar. Chuks can't time his jumps but at last he did a flick on that Golden Godden anticipated with a run and sublime finish.
Charlton fans struggle to realize the Huddersfield 4-0 was an outlier but this group is highly motivated by the manic Nathan and two sublime goals in a game where we had to grind out the result after the bizarre hand ball.
Not a great fan of putting on 3 subs in the 87th minute when they have to get up to speed but we just about managed to see the game out against plucky Cobblers who according to their fan on the train missed our loanee Terry Taylor, who he rated highly.
A very tense and, at time, scrappy and disjointed performance but 3 points is all that counts at this stage of the season and, whilst Northampton will feel hard done by, we probably just edged it in terms of opportunities created. As we well know, there are no easy games in this division - who, for example would have predicted that Wrexham would drop points at home to bottom 4 Bristol Rovers who were on a 6-game losing run ?
Berry’s fine volleyed goal should have settled us down but it did not and McIntyre handed Northampton an equaliser with a completely inexplicable handball shortly afterwards. What he was thinking of, only he knows.
I thought that Northampton were the better side in the first half, defending resolutely and aggressively when we threatened occasionally on the left through TC. We were shaky at the back and, with Coventry and Docherty below par, we found it hard to play through the opposition’s press; to compound matters, their players were sharper and more aggressive in picking up second balls.
The second half resumed with Northampton in the ascendency and, after a few more panicky moments at the back, Nathan hooked McIntyre, moved Edwards to left centre-back, Small to the left, Campbell to right wing-back and stuck Chuks up front. We certainly looked calmer at the back after the change and, after Godden hit the underside of the bar from close range following Small’s fine run and cross, Chuks’ excellent flick on put Godden through for the winner.
I thought that, at the back, Jones, Edwards and Mannion all had decent games. Ramsey fell a little below his exalted standards and the less said about poor Tom McIntyre the better. Quite why Alex Mitchell can’t make the squad is a mystery. Let’s hope that Macauley Gillespie’s muscle injury isn’t too serious, as he was most certainly missed today. Assuming he’s not fit for Monday, I wonder if Nathan Jones will leave Josh Edwards on the left of the back 3 and introduce Watson on the right.
MoTM Berry had an excellent game, finding pockets of space in advanced positions and bringing others into play with passes along the turf rather than in the air. Aside from his goal, he had two other respectable efforts in the second half.
Up front, TC had a quieter game and was well shackled by some tough and resolute defenders, whilst Godden displayed his usual quality and provided the sort of cool, match-winning finish we’ve come to expect of him.
Let’s hope the players came through the game without any knocks and are in good nick for Monday and the first of the five or six big games coming our way over the next five or so weeks.
We're so incredibly inconsistent. Northampton came to do a job and got away with it for the most part. Their goal was a stupid error from McIntyre. Overall we were still much better than them.
TC needs to be quicker with his decision making and more alert on the break, add to this that our team need to look for his breaks and we could have a really good player. We almost need him to study Lloyd Sam in League 1 footage.
Anyway kids had fun and we won so onto the next one.

I found it tough between Berry and Mannion but Mannion edged it for me. Although I called the penalty to those around me - player was obviously set up to go to mannion's right. I think most keepers would have read that.
Not sure how a player backing into Mannion holding the ball wasn't a foul, will have to see a replay but was shocked with the refereeing.
Was only a few months ago Dad told me about his cancer diagnosis at The Valley. In the months since, he has undergone major surgery and beat this bastard disease! And today was his first day back.. absolute machine! And 3 beautiful points to top it off. Beautiful day!
We are mathematically in the play offs as a minimum.
We need to keep our good form momentum and (hopefully) chisel out 3 wins whilst Wrexham and Wycombe mess up against us and at least one other of their matches.
If Wrexham and Wycombe don't mess up we do it via the play offs.
