Mitchell’s goal to cap off his comeback after that back pass. Clearly a popular player and at very least a decent backup centre back. Thought he had a very good game apart from that one mistake.
Fullah hitting the crossbar. Had that gone in on his debut…(it was his debut but wasn’t it?) Godden's goals. Both brilliant.
Gilbert’s passing. Sublime at times. Thought he worked hard as well, and I wouldn’t be unhappy to see more of him in the playoffs.
Watson who looks better and better. He can also pass a bit.
Ramsay, back to his best, looked at class apart at times. Edwards putting on the after burners to outpace their winger. He has pace to burn. And what a ball for Goddon’s second.
Their 20, Srajha, was like a one man defence. Might be worth a closer look.
What an enjoyable afternoon that was.
Though Srajha was awful, very poor close control and unable to do the simple things well.
I thought Goodwin Malife who played right side of their back three was the standout.
Seven academy players making appearances yesterday. Makes you feel like your Valley gold membership is worth something. Two great moments, Fullah hitting the bar and Mbick winning the ball by sheer physicality, the Burton player looked crestfallen when he got up and didn't get a foul, referee clearly thought, 'sorry son, he's just bigger than you that's all'.
Agreed. A touch of real quality. Would definitely see him as the best competition to Luke Berry, with Karoy being a better fit for the Docherty role.
Agree. I thought Karoy looked very good in that deeper role. The game is in front of him more. Not required to take the ball back to goal. Gilbert looked good, but he lacks physicality. The young lads all good.
Just seen the goals back for the first time. I must have been half-watching in the ground, I'd assumed for Godden's first he was put in by a Burton player, such was the weight of pass and absolute acreage he was in - but great assist for Watson. For Godden's second, I can't be the only one watching that turn past the defender and having a flashback to Mendonca's turn in '98.
The defender made the stupid decision to try and half block Godden's run instead of actually chasing back with him. I had to rewatch the goal a few times because it kept feeling like the defender had just disappeared into thin air. I think if I was the Burton manager I would never stop beating my player for letting a striker run through so unopposed like that
Agree, it was a poor decision to try to half block him.
The lesser know Delap, 19 year old Finn, got a rare 1st team call up and unlike his Brother Liam, is a CB not a forward. Unfortunately for Finn who had loans lower down the football pyramid at Woking and Buxton in '24' suddenly with his 6th app for Burton had the onerous job of marking Matty, Golden sniffer dog Godden who made his life a misery for 45 minute before being hooked at HT. Delap who wore 26 attempted to intercept the ball for the 2nd goal but just got turned and left with an Omelette on his face as he beat the ground in frustration.
When I watch Matty Godden live as opposed to on Sky plus games you really appreciate his intelligence and how difficult it is to mark him. Two sublime goals yesterday taking him to 21 from assists from Watson for the first and Edwards for the 2nd.
A guy on the International Addicks WhatsApp, whom I don't know, but seems pretty solid, says he was at the match and sat with Thierry Small on the train back, and TS told him that he, Jones and Berry will all be fit for next weekend.
Feels like the stars are aligning for us, doesn't it?
Fantastic but NJ won't like that being in the public domain if true 😬
Great day, Great result, roll on Wycombe and Wembley, we’re on our way UP…🏆
Not over impressed by the shite "huge" flag, was it ordered from the same props company who supplied Spinal Taps Stonehenge? Plus I couldn't read what it said in its weird (that is to say strange) font+ the badge is wrong.

I’d take it with a pinch of salt, not because of the source but rather because players might lean towards telling fans what they think the fans want to hear.
But Brownie was saying that he assumed key players not 100% fit would be rested, (and not on the bench). I don’t think it’s anything to make Wycombe plan any differently.

Totally agree. Thought Burton had really poor CBs all round.
The little dust up at the end, Watson needs to be careful, under other circumstances that could have been red possibly, there was a hand to a face. Happily the referee stayed calm. Odd thing to happen at the end of everything, though.
I was in the lower W, A block, so it was on the opposite side where the melee occured, so what made Watson lose his rage ? For those watching on TV, in the AC stand or anyone with a clear view.

Well from the covered end we really noticed him in the second half, and he certainly wasn’t awful. Good close control, good touch and hardly put a foot wrong. Put in a few really good blocks as well.

Think he fits that subsect of un-combative, positionally poor CBs who flatter to deceive because they look elegant gliding around the pitch. It's telling that we could've scored three more in the latter stages of the second half, with all our front players being from the youth team!

all I can say is thank gawd you haven't got control of the transfer cheque book. If you look at the highlights he wasn't contributing at all to defending on any of the goals.
Campbell is a major concern heading into the play offs his performances over the last 4 games have been very below par ….
Wondered when you'd pipe up with another load of drivel.
He was invisible v Wycombe and Wrexham and yesterday he looked way of the pace and very lightweight , it’s a concern
I know I shouldn't bite with our Plymouth correspondent but you dig TC out all the time. He raised the bar after his 3 brilliant performances in a row recently and personally I didn't want to hear Nathan Jones become a super salesman and say he's as good or better than the Premier players he's worked with.
He was decent yesterday in a good team performance but couldn't quite manage to emulate his finishing of recent times. TC and Small to share the load of going past League 1 defenders is best for CAFC as it's difficult for both to be doubled marked at the same time by the opposition without leaving gaps in the middle.
Like many youngsters Ibrahim Fullah, about one month on from his eighteenth birthday, will be inconsistent….but when good, very good! Having watched him a number of times, one of his trademark features is getting a goal (often a rising shot) from about fifteen or sixteen yards out, and his effort that hit the woodwork was (can I use the phrase for one so young?) classic Fullah.

That’s why I said we were saying he was a one man defense, as the rest were so awful. I’ll try to watch the second half again on Charlton TV, as maybe I got it wrong. Always possible :-)
Burton collectively fell apart, and we could easily have scored five or six. Very enjoyable game, either way. Let’s hope Wycombe fall apart in the same fashion.

I'd be a lot less confident v Wycombe if out as Brewer will get bullied by their numerous man mountains
Champ: Leeds, Burnley, Sunderland
L1: Birmingham, Stockport, Charlton
