  • I've found another hidden feature of the ticket page - probably not the first to find it - but I feel like I've reached Level 10 now.

The stadium map is all 'greyed' out, but block NWC is clickable, with 8 seats available at the time of typing, for the 16-20 age range. Anyone with an account, and in that age range, would be able to buy them right now.

Should never have been put on general sale whilst season ticket seats were still reserved. Give season ticket holders a day or 2 longer in the first place and then put any unbooked ST seats on general sale with the rest of the stadium.
Is 2 days not enough time for ST holders to purchase there own seats ? Realistically how long should people have been given ?

Clearly the idea was to put some on general sale during bank holiday Monday to stop the inevitable "why are tickets going on sale while I'm at work" comments. I know lots of people work bank holidays (including the ticket office staff this week!) but I can understand the theory. It just hasn't worked because of the initial tech issues/ST seat confusion

If the system was perfect half an hour would have been ample.
It is not the holders fault.

CAFC sent out an e-mail stating:

As one of our 2024/25 or 2025/26 season ticket holders, you have until 10.59am tomorrow (Wednesday, May 7th) to purchase your season ticket seat for our huge play-off semi-final against Wycombe Wanderers on Thursday, May 15th (KO 8pm)!

Unfortunately as I am now informed by the CAFC Ticket office ST 2025/26 were nor being held.

This type of contradiction is unhelpful and seriously incompetent.

Although they have back tracked on the deadline some peoples ST seats have become unavailable like mine so there is still an anomaly in getting a ticket at the moment.
Yes. It was apparent to me that they had not reserved the seats of new 25/26 season ticket holders, probably  because they don’t have the ability to overlay them on the 24/25 stadium map. Therefore 24/25 season-ticket holders were able to buy them, and did, making nonsense of the offer to 25/26 purchasers.

This is straightforward management error rather than a software issue. At best the comms message was seriously misleading.

Staff are clearly paying a hefty price in terms of correcting the inadequate messaging about how to buy your 24/25 season ticket too, creating unnecessary workload. I only worked it out myself when I switched to a laptop. The apparent scale of the problem makes it a serious error.

A system failing (not play off specific) does seem to be inadequate ‘back’ button functionality if you want to change your seat selection area.

If it is there it’s a bit hidden / non intuitive.
  • The whole thing has been a shambles but then again I'm not surprised given the experience trying to get a beer before the game on Saturday!

My advice to anyone is keep looking in throughout the day today. They were popping up every few minutes yesterday late afternoon and I managed to grab a couple.
My guess was that season ticket holders were swapping the ones they'd bought in a bit of a panic on Monday and returning them for their ST seats.

I thought about buying them on Sunday and then contacting the ticket office to get them upped to adult tickets

That’s really bad. So potentially some 2025/26 season ticket holders who didn’t have an ST this year might not get a ticket for the match (let alone being able to sit in their ST seat)?

Unlikely I'd think, as it's a designated area, and I wasn't thinking of encouraging that. But it could well be possible.

I bought a ST for my son for next season next to my current ST's.  Was quite chilled with buying mine and his for the play offs and didn't get round to it until Sunday and someone else had already bought the seat next to me which I thought would be reserved for my son.

Ended up buying elsewhere but badly communicated, hopefully lessons will be learnt.

Hadn’t received my email/tickets, after buying our three season ticket seats on Sunday morning.  As of last night the fee was also still pending on my credit card, but I did have a transaction number from the App.  Dropped an email to the ticket office this morning and they have sent them through for us.

Hope everyone gets sorted soon if they’re still waiting 🤞🏻

I would take this as a sign there'll be non-season-ticket seats drip-feeding onto the sales page across the next few days - as season ticket holders reassign themselves to their actual season ticket seats, via the ticket office, or under their own steam. Personally I wouldn't wait until Friday - keep an eye on the ticket page, especially during ticket office opening hours when there's a greater likelihood of non-season-ticket seats dropping. I may be wrong but this appears to have been the pattern over the last few days.

This. Been happening for days. Gotta be lucky and quick but seats are showing up as they become available

So, all your ST holders who were panicking so much on Sunday & Monday that you decided to buy all the non ST seats are now returning those tickets & taking up your ST seats.

    Many many thanks.

I imagine most of them bought an unreserved seat instead, so they did get a benefit just not the right to buy their new seat as they were promised. And if they got in quick enough their new seat woukd have been available. It just wasn’t reserved.

I have a wee bit more sympathy for a season ticket holder let down by the Club’s IT issues/messaging than I do for a non-season ticket holder who’s now found something else to have a moan about!  It’s not great, but perhaps people need to stop digging out fans.

I don't really know what all the hullabaloo is all about.

Anyone who wants a ticket for the home leg will get one, especially if a ST holder. Anyone who wants one for the away leg will probably only only get one if they are a ST holder as the allocation is likely to be less than 2k.

Who & when we play wont be known until 5pm tomorrow. So until then just chill yer bones & bask in the sunshine.

I couldn't make the Doncaster playoff at the Valley but the 98 one lives long in the memory.
The atmosphere around the place prior, during and after was like nothing I'd experienced at the Valley before.
    Here's hoping!
The 98 semi against Ipswich always sticks with me. It felt like the east stand was shaking when Newton scored, I honesty think for loud moments at the valley, that was the loudest I can ever recall.
This. My ears genuinely hurt with the noise that evening!

Make it louder next Thursday and you'll have the noise people from the council down!

I think another day or two for season ticket holders gives you leeway to solve problems that may or may not occur would be a learning. Also maybe a simple Q&A sheet which anticipates potential problems. As has been said, the ticket system seems to have worked, it is just the interface confused and panicked people.

What they should've done imo is this.
Monday & Tuesday. Allow season ticket holders to buy thier seats and their seats only. No extras.
Wednesday. Allow season ticket holders and VG to buy the equivalent of their ST ticket plus 2 extras anywhere they want in the ground including those not taken up on Monday and Tuesday.
Thursday put the rest on General sale.

Ashford, Kent.  No need to go anywhere near the Tunnel.....Blackwall or otherwise.

That seems a good suggestion. It means a more convoluted process for season ticket holders but I think would be much more smooth. The alternative might be for season tickets to by their tickets on Monday and on Tuesday and Wednesday, allow them to buy the extras they are entitled to (only those that have bought a seat already) but the ticket office allocate them placing them as close as possible to the season ticket seat. Then open them up the next day.

The issue is, this is not an issue usually for the club or fans.
